League's Classic Game Last entries for the Fantasy League's
classic game is
11.45am on Saturday 17 November and the last game of qualification will be the
IPS v BOL game @ 4pm on Sunday 18th November. Where you stand after the update
on Monday 19th November morning will determine which Cup Competition you
will be entered into (and what level of prize money you will be battling for). The ability to set a team up now aimed at
players in form and the fixtures over the next month or so should be an
advantage over August entered teams even though they will have had 20 transfers
originally. Hopefully you will get that bit of luck to finish in the top 3 (or
top 7) of your 10 team mini-league who all start scoring from the same time as
your team. Apologies for indicating in the previous
newsletter that transfers would be 16 for this month - that newsletter should
have gone out in October. Read
about Fantasy League's and FISO's joint 'League of
Champions' Friends & Enemies League which was set up at the start of the
season to see which of last year's FF Champions was 'top dog'. Andy Luckhurst is
currently leading the way. Good luck to all FISO subscribers over the
weekend whose FL Classic team is on the border of top 3 or top 7 finish in their
10 team mini-league. May the goals and assists be with you! 2. Hot Topics on, and Prizes

Unsubscribe 1. Is November the Time for
Major Transfers? With one quarter of the EPL season over, are
there some signs that the fairly predictable nature to the start of the league
is about to change? So far this season a Leeds clean sheet with goals conceded
by Leicester, Ipswich and Man Utd (amongst others) and points scored by
Hasselbaink, Henry, Kewell, Pires, Ziege and Robert in each game, seemed the
norm. A number of recent management changes with a turn in form for West Ham and
Leicester and Owen's return to fitness and Angel's re-found scoring ability,
combined with the resolvement of a stage of European matches and some
International friendlies coming up, could be the prelude to some rather
different results. This weekend's fixtures throws a number of this season's top
performing teams against each other (Leeds v Spurs, Liverpool v Man Utd &
Newcastle v Aston Villa) and with a fortnight's rest because of the
Internationals, late November may be the time to undertake major surgery to your
teams and draw ahead of those that prefer the more conservative approach of
preserving transfers! 2. Latest news on, and Prizes

5. The Original Fantasy
League Remember, the usual season long competition
is not the main point of playing Fantasy League's classic game.
The top point scorer for the full season will win £1,000 but the main prizes
await the winners of Cup play-offs. The latest you can enter is 11.45am on
Saturday 17 November and the last game of qualification will be the IPS v BOL
game @ 4pm on Sunday 18th November (i.e. not the Charlton v West Ham match at
8pm on Mon 19th November). Any entrants
during November will have 12 transfers for the season (rather than the 20 you
would have had for an August entry - see below for clarification on transfers).
The ability to set up a team now based on the next few months fixtures and still
have 12 transfers is likely to be a big advantage over
teams that entered in August and may prove vital when it comes to the round
robin and knock out stages of the Cup competitions. So with 2 weekends of
action left before the Group Stages kick-in select your time carefully to enter
the action over the next few weeks and with a bit of luck you may well be
able to defeat the earlier entered teams when it comes to the latter stages! 6. New Fantasy Sports Game
Reviews - Sky Sports Football Manager Below is a copy of a Press Release on SSFM
from earlier this month: 'Sky Sports Football Manager is the ultimate realistic,
multi-player football management game
Launching
5th November 2001, Sky Sports
Football Manager brings the biggest brand in football to the most realistic
and the first genuinely multi-player football management game ever. Sky Sports Football Manager is a massive multiplayer football
management simulation game that lets thousands of people run their favourite
football club from the top five English divisions, while competing against other
on-line players for the coveted title of “Sky Sports Football Manager of the Year”.
With Sky
Sports Football Manager you can manage your favourite football team,
whether it be Manchester United, Stoke City or Yeovil.
Buy and Sell players, select and train them, and compete in a league
against other managers – real people,
not just computer artificial intelligences.
Manage a real club, choosing
any side from the Premiership, the Nationwide leagues or the Conference.
Play with real-name footballers in proper leagues. Sky Sports Football Manager comes complete with transfers,
suspensions, injuries, promotions and accurate statistics on thousands of
worldwide professional footballers. Training,
transfers and tactics are extremely realistic, and the skill, ability and
behaviour of your players at the start of each season are fine-tuned to match
their real-life counterparts. That’s where you take over… Sky Sports Football Manager is considerably more satisfying than
fantasy football type games, purely because it’s more realistic.
It actually gives you a taste of what it is really like to run a top
team. And in line with the sport,
you are joining a broad and passionate community, competing against thousands of
fellow managers, experiencing the emotions, banter and glory associated with
real football. When you first play Sky
Sports Football Manager you
start at the entry level, Bronze 3, which is where all managers start their
careers. Players gain promotion through outstanding performance as a
manager, moving up to the higher Bronze and Silver Worlds and even to the elite
heights of the Gold World if they are good enough. The best managers of the season will play in
the ‘Gold World’.
The Gold World is the top level of play within Sky Sports Football Manager and is made up of the Premiership,
the Nationwide divisions 1-3 and the Vauxhall Conference – in all, 114 teams
which play the exact same fixtures, on the same days, as real live matches.
This is where players get to find out who really
is the top manager – move over, Sir Alex! Sky
Sports Football Manager will be a subscription-based service.
Versions of the game will be distributed both online and at retail.
The Sky
Sports Football Manager programme and the game statistics can be kept
current through online updates. The game has also been specifically designed to
exploit emerging wireless and digital technologies to expand players’
accessibility and gaming experience. The
service, which combines a standalone program running on a PC with an integrated
website for content and community operations, will launch in the UK in November.
Sky
Sports Football Manager will
be available on a monthly subscription of £6.99. Billing, customer care and online support will be managed by
N.I. Sports, with Intel providing a fully managed hosting environment.' 7. Premiership

4. Arca and Team Boss games As highlighted on the FISO forum, the
Sunderland midfielder/defender Arca has been scored incorrectly in the
PlanetFootballTeamBoss game. FISO raised this issue with Sarah Goodacre at
TeamBoss and her response was as follows: SG: 'Your users are correct! We are aware of
this problem and correct points will go on site next update. This was due to a
mistake in the player pool that we received from OPTA. Arca was entered as being
a midfield player, but is in fact a defender. On the original Team Boss site he
receives defensive points - the same feed is uploaded into the planet site which
is why the points are incorrect for a mid field player. 5. The Original Fantasy
League - Why You Should Enter a Team by 17 November! In case you haven't noticed, the usual
season long competition is not the main point of playing Fantasy League's
classic game.
The top point scorer for the full season will win £1,000 but the main prizes
await the winners of Cup play-offs. Each team entered from August through to
2.45 p.m. on Saturday 17 November 2001 will be placed in a group of 9 other
teams that all start scoring from the same time. The position of your team in
this 10 team mini-league as at 9am Monday 19th November determines which Cup
competition your team goes through to (top 3 to the Champions League, next 4 to
the UEFA Cup and bottom 3 to the Inter-Toto Cup). Your team is then placed in a
6 team mini-league where you 'play' each other team in these Group stages on a
round robin basis. If you week's/weekend's score beats your opponents score then
you gain 3 points, a draw is 1 point and 0 for a loss. The top 3 after this
round robin format goes through to the knock out stages where the winner of the
Champions League section wins £10,000, the UEFA Cup £5,000 and the Inter-Toto
Cup £1,000 (cash winners also win match tickets). So the latest you can enter is 2.45pm on
Saturday 17 November and the last game of qualification will be the IPS v BOL
game @ 4pm on Sunday 18th November (i.e. not the Charlton v West Ham match at
8pm on Mon 19th November). Any entrants during this month will have 16
transfers for the season (rather than the 20 you would have had for an earlier
entry - see below for clarification on transfers). The loss of only 4 transfers
is likely to be a big advantage over teams that entered in
August and may prove vital when it comes to the round robin and knock out stages
of the Cup competitions. So with 3 weekends of action left before the Group
Stages kick-in select your time carefully to enter
the action over the next few weeks and with a bit of luck you may well be
able to defeat the earlier entered teams when it comes to the latter stages! 'Hi, I am told that new teams on the site are
still displaying 20 transfers for the season but the database is telling us they
only have 16. I am assured that the displayed figure (of 16) will be corrected
on all teams by the weekend. Charles' 6. New Fantasy Sports Game

we're looking for more! Whilst we have 7 of the top 15 overall teams in our

co-founder of FISO, who also walked away with £500 for the 2nd best performer
in September plus £100 for best UK manager and is currently placed 3rd overall.
Ian first got me interested (or is that addicted?) in fantasy football so can I
just take a 'moment' here to reminisce? August 1995: my first ever works fantasy
football league and run by my good friend Ian. 1995/96 was the year of Yeboah
and Les Ferdinand and the arrival of Zola and I had a lot to learn about playing
fantasy football, with Ian Wild taking the works league in style. Next year was
a different matter, yours truly walking away with the title and a short step
away from better things with a 3rd place in a National Newspaper competition
followed by 1st place in TPLO (now TFFO) in 2000/01. Our collaboration in early
2000 led to the launch of FISO.co.uk, a website for online fantasy sports fans!
18 months later with user sessions exceeding 2,000 per day at peak times
and with over 1,000 subscribers to our newsletter (which was launched in March
2001), the results of the hard work put in is there to see. Congratulations Ian
on the prize and I hope that if I can't defend my TFFO title, you can fend off
the competition and take the win. Anyone else want to tell us about how and
when they first started out playing fantasy sports then post a message to
our forum. The forum was

football in those 2 months, this is the place to get an opinion about a game or

& WWWATT Ltd Many people will have seen (possibly from
the FISO forum where it was highlighted on 5 Oct) that the Team Boss crowd have
built a fantasy football game for
Planet Football on which scoring starts on Saturday 13 October. This promises to
be very popular so we've carried out an in depth review of the game below and
asked Team Boss to tell us about the company behind the Team Boss games, WWWATT
Ltd. I spoke to Sarah Goodacre, Fantasy Football
Project Manager, for WWWATT Ltd earlier on this week. This is what she had to
say about WWWATT Ltd: I hope that the above statement by Sarah
helps people understand who is running the game. Our understanding of the rules of the game
are as follows: Entry cost - £3.99 for 1 team, £10 for 4
teams, £20 for 10 teams and £30 for 20 teams. Squad system - pick 18 players using £100m
and pick 11 to play each day in a 1 GK, 2 FB, 2 CB, 4 M and 2 S formation. Make
