still not available why not join us in a mini-league at Playerboss?
If you already have a Playerboss Team, simply enter this ID number: 56. Get your
team in by 2pm today to make sure you score from the start of the competition.
For more information on John Beresford's Playerboss fantasy game then check out
FSN 33 below. If anyone still wants to join us in a TFFO
mini-league then just email us with the
email address you entered TFFO under. 2. New Prizes for posts to the FISO
message forum Courtesy of the ITV Sport Channel, we will
be offering a free Mitre football to, in our opinion, the most interesting or
useful post to the FISO message forum
from the period 7 September to 30 September 2001. The winner will be emailed
within 1 week of the month end and needs to provide their address to us (no one
else will see it) so we can post the football to you. We will also confirm on
the message forum who the prize has been awarded to. We reserve the right to
present more than one football if we believe more than one person deserves a
prize. 3. Update on the Dream Team Golden
Gamble! In FSN 34 I gave you 12 reasons why an entry
to The Sun's Dream Team competition via
their Golden Gamble could pay huge dividends. You may have noticed that Sereni and
Finidi George of Ipswich (playing Ipswich today) and Dudek,
Liverpool's new number one goalkeeper, have been added at the last minute to the
other post kick-off additions of, Stam’s replacement, Laurent Blanc
(reportedly confirmed by Ferguson to start today) and new Fulham striker Steve
Marlet as new additions to the list of players. These players were not
available to entrants as at 18 August and picking them could lead to collecting
the huge weekly or monthly prizes! Registrations for the Dream Team competition
close today at 3pm so it really is your last chance to get a team in. 4. Daily Telegraph Fantasy
Football It appears everyone has their packs and PINs
now but as highlighted on the FISO message forum one
TFF entrant believes there could be a software error on the website which means
team values are not added up correctly, so do take the time to check your total
team value manually (particularly if you are close to the £50m limit). We also
see that the TFF weekly password is being posted on the message forum
(http://www.fiso.co.uk/forum/philboard_forum.asp?forumid=3) which
is appreciated by a number of people. Transfers need to be done by 3pm today to
be effective for today's kick-offs - don't delay as there will be a large number
of people making transfers which may make their servers slower than normal. 5. 1966

September Chelsea 3 Arsenal 1 Derby 0 West Ham 0 Leeds 1 Bolton 1 Leicester 0 Ipswich 2 Liverpool 1 Aston Villa 0 Man Utd 1 Everton 2 (well maybe) Middlesbrough 1 Newcastle 2 Sunderland 3 Blackburn 1 Tottenham 2 Southampton 2 Charlton 1 Fulham 1 FSN 34 5 September 2001 Fantasy Sports Newsletter 34 Contents: 1. News update; 2. Reminder on PlayerBoss FREE entry prize; 3. Why you should take the Golden Gamble! 4. Online Simulated Fantasy Football
Management Games; 1. News Update a) A very useful suspension news page
as highlighted by 'Rich' on FISO's message forum
is at Soccernet. Remember
to keep your eye on the message forum
as we will often post information here rather than wait for the next
newsletter. [Congrats also to Rich (aka Rick) for getting his Daily Telegraph
Super League into 8th place as at the last points update!]. b) The 'Fans of FISO' mini-league in TFFO is
still not available as 'Tele' and his IT staff haven't yet removed last
year's 25 team limit - fingers crossed for later this week or early next. If
anyone still wants to join us then just email us
with the email address you entered TFFO under. c) Premierwin Update: As mentioned last week, the final tables are
up on Premierwin.com,
with 'The Spooky Mob' top of the main league and 'Little Angel 2' top of the 10
week table. The Liquidator of Football Manager Limited, the company that ran the
game, has confirmed verbally to us that the team managers will imminently
receive their £1 million and £100,000 respectively. So it appears that we do
have a £1m fantasy football winner after all and the payout
will no doubt be of immense relief to the winner. We will see if the winners are
prepared to talk to FISO about their experience although anominity may be
paramount to them. d) SAS
- Soccer All Stars SAS, probably the leading 'role-play'
simulated fantasy football management website, is closing down for the time
being. 'Scream King', the Development Director of SAS, has taken this very
difficult decision due to time comittments and sincerely hopes that the
site can be resurrected in the future. Many thanks 'Scream King' for the
enjoyment SAS has given plenty of fantasy football fans! e) Daily Telegraph Fantasy Football As highlighted on the FISO message forum there
are still a number of people waiting for the packs and PINs to enable Stam etc
related transfers to be done. Fingers crossed that The Telegraph won't let
people down. f) Fantasy Football games with start dates
of 8 September are: g) Webuser magazine Look out for tomorrow's issue of Webuser
magazine (Thursday 6th September) which has a special review of online fantasy
football websites and hopefully will carry a piece about FISO.co.uk. Web User
has a cover price of £1.20, is a best selling 'internet content' magazine and
is published every two weeks. If you are interested in taking out a yearly
subscription to Web User (at £26.52 for 26 issues less any special discount) or
other Internet related magazines then click here.
International subscriptions are available. h) Head
On - Jaap Stam See what all the fuss was about in Jaap
Stam's autobiography with a 40% discount via Amazon. 2. Reminder about the free entry
prizes for the Playerboss.com game Only 1 day left to win the two free entries
to the PlayerBoss game (worth £9.99 each) . These go to the two best (in the
opinion of FISO) 'posts' on the FISO message forum
from when it was launched on 11 August until 6 a.m. GMT on Thursday 6
September. You will be notified on the 6th of September and must email your team
details to the given PlayerBoss email address by 2 p.m. on Saturday 8 September
to enter their game. No FISO team members can qualify for the prize and you must
be eligible to enter the PlayerBoss game e.g. over 18. 3. Why you should take the Golden
Gamble! Okay, I know the Sun's Dream Team competition started
on 18 August BUT I'll let you in on a little secret - I enter most of my Dream
Teams via the Golden Gamble. Why? I hear you ask - when most teams have an
extra week or two head start! Well, I'll tell you why: a) Each manager is only allowed a maximum of
3 transfers per season (i.e. in 38 weeks of hectic football) and they can only
be carried out in early January. I know this frustrates so many fantasy managers
who struggle to see more than one month ahead and are often left helpless due
to real-life events. The Golden Gamble allows you a 3 week insight into the
Premiership season - if used correctly this can be an enormous advantage. b) There are weekly prizes of £1,000 and
monthly prizes of £4,000 - think how much effort you have to put in to win
these types of sums over an entire season! A week runs from midnight
Thursday so look at those fixtures as many have already been re-arranged and see
if you can spot an 'easy' week! The rules say that the prize is only rolled over
where there are NO eligible games played in that week. c) Don't forget the £100k first prize, with
£50k for 2nd, £20k for 3rd and £5k for 4th - it is not too late to catch the
early starters. d) There is also a £4k prize for the
best mini-league which is free to add your team to - just need 5 teams to count
- so why not enter 5 for the price of 4. e) The weekly prize is for the team that has
moved the highest number of places in the main league - so if you start at the
bottom you've got plenty of places to move up! f) There has only been games in the month of
August so the £4k prize for September is still completely up for grabs! Why not
look at the fixture list for September and work out a team on that basis? g) All the UEFA, Champions League,
Worthington Cup and FA Cup games are yet to come which all score in the Dream
Team league so we've really had very few games so far this season. A number of
teams have also only played 2 Premiership games due to other commitments. h) A large number of good players have yet
to score many points. For example: Barthez (-2), Carbonari (0), Radebe (0), M
Elliott (-4), Rowett (-8), Taggart (0), Babbel (2), Henchoz (-2),
Hyppia (2), W Brown (1), R Johnsen (2), G Neville (-2), Silvestre (0), Ehiogu
(-5), Southgate (2), D Richards (1), Doherty (6), Blanc (0), Van Bronckhurst
(3), Parlour (-3), Merson (3), Jensen (0), Lampard (0), Petit (3), Dacourt (2),
Izzet (0), Wise (-3), Barmby (0), Murphy (0), Redknapp (0), Smicer (0), Scholes
(-1), Speed (0), Hutchinson (3), Poyet (0), J Cole (0), Jeffers (-1), Ginola
(0), Bartlett (0), Euell (-1), Radzinski (0), M Stewart (3), Scowcroft (0),
Robbie Keane (0), Kewell (3), Fowler (-1), Litmanen (0), Cole, Solskjaer &
Yorke (all 0), Boksic (3), Nemeth (0), Ricard (-1), Shearer (0), Pahars (0),
Laslandes (3), Rebrov (0), Sheringham (5), Kanoute (0) and Marlet (0). There are a number of Man Utd and Liverpool
players in there who will have plenty of Champions League games to catch up. i) Major absences from the season: Westerveld
(not first choice for Liverpool anymore), Stam (sold to Lazio), M Ball (sold to
Rangers), Silvinho (sold to Celta Vigo), Lebeouf (gone back to France), Richard
Rufus (injured for 6 months) and James (out for most of the season). Think how
many teams already entered are now at a great disadvantage! j) There are two new players
available for selection which were not there on 18 August – Stam’s
replacement Laurent Blanc at Man Utd and new Fulham striker Steve
Marlet have been added to the lists. No sign yet of Sereni and Finidi George
of Ipswich or Dudek, Liverpool's new number one goalkeeper added to the Dream
Team list but it is worth keeping an eye out in case they are added by Saturday.
If Blanc and Marlet score well in one week then Golden Gamble entrants will
stand a huge chance of winning that week's £1k prize. k) There is a euphoria over Owen (and
Gerrard, Beckham et al) at the moment - knowing The Sun they're likely to get
good ratings just for stepping out on the pitch (assuming they don't mess up
against Albania)! l) Not many people will be looking at
entering teams this late - so take advantage of the lack of serious competition. Registrations for the Dream Team competition
close this Saturday at 3pm so it really is your last chance to get a team in. I
will be making the Golden Gamble and I do think FISO subscribers ought to think
seriously about doing the same. It costs £5 for one team or £20 for 5 teams
and the potential winnings are big. All I ask is that if a FISO subscriber wins
a prize then they let me know so I can report your success. 4. Online Simulated Fantasy
Football Management Games Our long overdue review of recently
submitted online simulated fantasy football management games (or Sim games for
short!) is here! SSFM
- Sky Sports Football Manager As this is clearly going to be a major
Fantasy Football event with the online version happening in September to
coincide with the boxed CD version, we will be dedicating a separate newsletter
to SSFM. itsagoal is a free to play On-line Football
Management Game.100% HTML. No plug-ins, Flash or Java. Games are played Monday

on the website: 'You will begin with a club which is nothing more than just a
playing field with a shack for an office - courtesy of your recently departed
great granduncle whom you love dearly but never knew existed. Even better, he
has also left you $20,000 in cash!' James Purcell's Fantasy
Football This is
a free fantasy football management game in its first season and has a structure
of 2 leagues with 5 teams in each. It features a league and cup

Playerboss.com game - on offer from FISO; 3. Interview with John Beresford from
the newly launched PlayerBoss.com; 4. Coming up on FISO's FSNs. 1. News in brief a) Many thanks for the 'sack-loads' of
applications to join the 'Fans of FISO' mini-league in TFFO. As soon as 'Tele'
and his IT staff remove last year's 25 team limit we'll input everyone in! Tele
has promised to organise this pretty soon so hopefully you'll see the results
sometime next week. If anyone still wants to join us then just email
us with the email address you entered TFFO under. b) A very useful injury and suspension news
page as highlighted by 'Scotty' on FISO's message forum
is at SoccerUpdate.
One of the best we've seen this year! Do keep your eye on the message forum
as we will often post information here rather than wait for the next
newsletter. c) New pages on FISO: Latest Premiership Football news headlines -
Teams: Arsenal to Ipswich Latest Premiership Football news headlines -
Teams: Leeds to West
Ham Latest Division One Football news headlines
- Teams: Barnsley to Notts Forest Latest Division One Football news headlines
- Teams: Portsmouth to
Wolves These pages gather the latest relevant
sports news headlines from top sports sites and are a great way of checking on
the latest news. Just click on the links a couple of times a day to ensure you
don't miss out on news concerning any of your players - if a story interests
you, just click on it and you will be taken to the story in full in a new
browser window. The links are available from our home
page as well. d) Premierwin Update: The final tables are now up on
Premierwin.com. Appropriately enough 'The Spooky Mob' is top of the main league
and 'Little Angel 2' is top of the 10 week table. We have no news yet on whether
the team managers will receive their £1 million and £100,000 respectively. We
will see if we can get an update from the Liquidator in time for the next
newsletter. e) Fantasy Game Rating/Feedback A topic recently started on the FISO message
forum by 'Stewart' asks
people to rate the online fantasy football games on the evidence so far this
season. Which ones do you think have been run well? Which ones have had
problems? Which have been fun to play and which haven't? FISO (and the games
webmasters) would be very interested in feedback on this area so please do
contribute. It is very very easy to register - just choose a username and a
password. f) FISO's Premiership Player Database Our Player Database has been updated for the
evidence of the first couple of weeks of the season. With many people looking at
their transfers for the next round of matches on 8 September, the database
provides an easy way to check on players that you could bring in. See how we
rate Goalkeepers, Defenders, Midfielders or Strikers by listing them in rating
order or check on the best rated players per team. Do remember that our rating
assumes the player is fully fit and playing in the stated position. g) PC Football Management sim games to
launch: Now that the 2001/02 football season is
underway Eidos Interactive and EA Sports are about to launch their extremely
popular (and addictive) Football Management games. Championship
Manager 2001/02 and FA
Premier League Manager 2001/02 are both hugely enjoyable games and will be
released in mid-September. Pre-order the games now, if you fancy you can manage
your club (be it from the Premiership or Division 3) to glory then you will
truly enjoy either game - they are both really superb! h) Perl and Cookies! Can anyone help MysticMoose on his cookies
problem with Perl on the Fantasy Sports Webmasters section of our message forum? i) Leaderboards Appearing in 28th position in Telegraph
Fantasy Football is the irrepressible Tony Murnaghan and in the online version,
TFFO, is that last year's 3rd placed Mark Nunn making an appearance in 9th
place? Last year's 15th placed Angus Moon definitely pops up alongside me in
84th place. TFFO has about 27,000 team entries this year. 2. Free entry prizes for the
Playerboss.com game on offer from FISO; PlayerBoss.com have kindly offered two free
entries to their game (worth £9.99 each) to the two best (in the opinion of
FISO) 'posts' on the FISO message forum
from when it was launched on 11 August until 6 a.m. GMT on Thursday 6
September. You will be notified on the 6th of September and must email your team
details to the given PlayerBoss email address by 2 p.m. on Saturday 8 September
to enter their game. No FISO team members can qualify for the prize and you must
be eligible to enter the PlayerBoss game e.g. over 18. 3. Interview with John Beresford (Bez) of PlayerBoss.com by Chris King (CK) and Ian Wild (IW) of FISO on 30 August 2001
Bez: It started when I was injured at
Southampton, me and David Hughes got together and thought we'd do our own game.
The first attempt was called 'Big Money League' but it never got going as we had
big technical problems. You can bet we learnt a lot of lessons from that!! We
brought a few people in, hired a database and a front end company and started
again! For me, football is about the players AND
the fans, this is what PLAYERBOSS is about, the chance for the supporters to
play the pro's. I think fantasy football is excellent, it gives you an interest
in games that previously you just wouldn't have watched! I didn't realise it
could be so addictive - just ask the wife!! CK: Have you played fantasy football games
yourself? If so which? Bez: Yeh, I played the Sun game, but I
didn't use my name - just learning (and no, didn't win any of the prizes). I
didn't like that fact that someone else could change the scores by giving them
man of the match. IW: Do you think you would have been a
popular fantasy football player choice during your main stints at Portsmouth and
Newcastle? Bez: You're joking...in that Newcastle
defence?? No seriously though, if you look at the stats it wasn't half as bad as
the press made out. I didn't get many goals, but I would have got a few assists?
(CK: Sorry Bez, don't remember you being on my short list!). CK: How long has PlayerBoss taken to get off
the ground? Bez: Well, if you count the first attempt,
it's about two years - since the injury. IW: How many people are involved in running
PlayerBoss? Bez: At the moment we have a staff of six,
but three of those are temp. Swany (everyone's best mate [Soccer AM]) is
involved, he got quite a few of the players involved, and over the months
another five to ten pro's have been involved. CK: The involvement of the pro footballers
(via the mini-leagues and prizes) provides a unique angle to the game but do you
think the actual game will be enjoyable and challenging for people to play? Bez: Well this is a big thing for us. We
looked at the other games, let's just say that some are better than others! We
then drew together the best aspects of the games we liked. PLAYERBOSS is quite
simple, but we feel it's very fair. There's nothing worse than one of you're
defenders getting subbed in the last minute and then losing a couple of points -
so with us, they score. We also didn't like negative points for bookings. The
challenge is whether to for a strong 11 and a weak subs bench or a more balanced
side. We've got a great idea for next year, and that should take it to another
level. IW: How did you get the big names involved?
And did it mainly start with players that you have played alongside (for example
Beardsley at Newcastle, Le Tissier at Southampton)? Bez: Yes, I've just called a few of my old
team mates up, Swany did the same. Again, we want to develop this and have a few
more ideas for next year. CK: What made you choose a squad based game
with 25 transfers? Bez: It makes the game more interactive. The
more you can 'manage' your team - the better. CK: Do you think the Supporters Mini-Leagues
will be popular? Bez: Yeh, I'm really happy with that, but
we're struggling to get all the team represented - so if you're reading this and
support one of the less popular teams - get registering!! Like I say, it should
be really interesting come May. We were worried that people might register crap
teams then say they support their rivals side - but this hasn't happened. CK: Are you going to miss the Vintage MG
Convertible when it is handed over to the PlayerBoss 2001/02 winner? Bez: Yeh, I can't say this one is worth a
lot of money - but I've collected MG's for years now and you don't like to see
them go. Our problem is that the site was launched later that we would have
liked and I was away in the States when it launched. This meant that it's had
very little publicity. There's very few people entered a teams, so they've a
great chance of picking up the prizes. Next year we're looking to link up with
regional, and/or national, and/or international newspapers so we won't need a
big marketing budget. This year it's about getting the game out and people
playing. IW: What other prizes are up for grabs? Bez: Well it's up to the fans really.
Because of our network, we can get hold of all sorts of football gear. We've
actually appealed on the site for ideas. We can get signed shirts from numerous
players, but there's no point in getting a Cantona signed Man U shirt as a
monthly prize and only the Man U fans will be interested. We think we'll get a
list of available shirts and ask the winner to take their pick. I want to take
this further though and offer a round of golf, or drinks before a game, that
sort of thing. Did you hear what Swany's put in? (CK: Yes we did and
we hope it is shrink-wrapped before being posted off! Personally I'd prefer the
round of golf.) Editor's Note: To suggest prizes go to
FISO's message forum where
a Topic on this subject has been set up by Andrew Burns of the PlayerBoss team. CK: Can the Pros win any of the prizes
(they'll probably be sort of a bob or two!)? Bez: No, they're just for the fans. But if I
win outright...then I'll have a re-think and may keep the car!! CK: What is fantasyfootballcheat.com about? Bez: Basically it's a service for everyone
playing fantasy football. We offer a team selection service, a newsflash service
and a player database for the biggest and best fantasy games. We didn't go as
far as we would have liked due to copyright issues. We do charge for access, but
it's a comprehensive and one stop shop for fantasy fans - supplemented by FISO
(of course). (CK: Glad of the competition! I started FISO in March 2000
(with IW's help) because of the lack of information out there for the fantasy
football player so the more the merrier!). IW: Which team did you enjoy playing for
most: Manchester City, Barnsley, Portsmouth, Newcastle or Southampton? Bez: Certainly not City, I didn't see eye to
eye with the manager and I left determined to prove myself elsewhere. I had good
times at all the other clubs, but it won't surprise many to say that the Keegan
days were fantastic. It changed when Dalglish came along and I was disappointed
because I felt that I wasn't being given a fair crack of the whip. CK: We see you're currently registered with
Ossett Town. How often will you play for them? Bez: Well I can't play for five weeks as I
got sent off last season. I couldn't believe that, but as it happens I'm in
Singapore from Saturday and I'm not back until October. I've a few mates at
Ossett so I've registered with them and hope to play a few games when I get
back. I just love the game and nothing beats playing. IW: How did you enjoy your first goal for
Newcastle, a penalty against Barnsley, the sixth in a 6-0 win in April 1993 Bez: It was special because it was against
my old team - just as well I scored. I wouldn't have taken it normally but Coley
got a hat-trick and it turned into a bit of an exhibition game. IW: How did you feel when your proposed move
to Liverpool from Portsmouth fell through? Bez: Sick, but these things happen in
football, it didn't turn out too bad for me though. Yeh, you wonder what it
would have been like, but there's no regrets. IW: Even though you were injured, you came
on at Peter Beardsley's testimonial and played for a few minutes. How did
it feel to take the pitch that evening ? Bez: Brilliant, I only was on for a couple
of minutes but I couldn't have missed out on that one. The crack in the changing
rooms was excellent with so many ex-players turning up. My mate Rob Lee recently
had his testimonial but it was only the present squad who played. If he'd had a
few of the ex-players I'm sure he'd have had a few more turning up. To be fair
the game was planned as a serious pre-season warm up game. CK: If you could only pick one goalkeeper,
one defender, one midfielder and one striker for a PlayerBoss fantasy team (with
no restrictions) who would they be? Bez: Barthez, Ash Cole (or Harte), Bowyer
(Beckham), and Hasselbaink. It's tough, but that's what it's all about. IW: If there was one rule in football that
you could change what would it be? Bez: I think the games gone a bit soft,
referees are blowing up for minor things - and I think this also frustrates the
fans. CK: How will you be determining assists or
do you use an outside source for the data? Bez: We do it ourselves, or should I say the
guys in the office do it. Firstly, we want to keep control and secondly the
outside sources charge a lot! CK: Is there any advice you can give our
readers who are going to enter a team in PlayerBoss? Bez: Yeh, get a team in before September the
8th, you'll have a great chance of winning and a great laugh when you see some
of the players selected by the so called pro's!! CK: Any last message to our readers? Bez: Yeh, let us know what you think of the
site, if we get some good idea's I'll try and sort out a prize or two. The cost
is £9.99 but you can also qualify for a free £10 bet and then there's the
prizes. If you organise your own mini-league and get eight or more mates to
play, we'll give you £1 back for each team. (CK: people can use the FISO
message forum to provide
feedback). Cheers, Many thanks Bez and we hope that PlayerBoss
is a success. 4. Coming up on FISO's FSNs. Definitely a whole FSN dedicated to the
online soccer simulation games recently submitted to FISO for our review! The
start of the EPL season has gotten in the way of this and apologies to the sim
fans out there. FSN 32 23 August 2001 Telegraph Fantasy Football Online news: If you've entered the Premier League
game on TFFO then please join our mini-league - 'Fans of FISO' - simply send us
an email confirming your email address used
in the TFFO competition (we DON'T need your password i.e. we don't want to be
able to access your team). We will use your email address to search for your
team(s) and then add those present to the 'Fans of FISO' mini-league. If you
don't want us to add all your teams then simply let us know but don't worry if
you've a low score - we're looking for quantity not quality! However, if you've
been following the FISO tips then you should be doing pretty well. For example
top scorer on the first round of matches was the very cheap Per Frandsen of
Bolton who was highlighted in FSN 28 as a top scoring midfielder. To access the mini-league option simple
click on Manager's Office in the top left hand corner of your main team screen. The
'Fans of FISO' mini-league is not visible just yet but will be visible in the
middle of next week and will show each person's name, team name and weekly,
monthly and total points score as well as position in the FISO mini-league.
There is NO cost to enter our mini-league - we've paid the set-up cost
ourselves. Names that we recognise on the top 100 TFFO
leaderboard (before last night's points update) are Mike Jones (with Jones Boys
Two - Mike is an ex-Sky Sports Football Fantasia winner) (21st), Tony Murnaghan
(37th) (as featured in FSN 21), Andy Luckhurst (44th) (Sky's Fantasia winner 3
of last 4 years), Chris King (44th) (well I'm not going to give up my title
without a good fight!) and Rich Kellard (53rd). Apologies if I've missed anyone
out. Before we get onto a summary of real-life
fantasy football that have recently been launched or have an entry deadline
coming up, if anyone has any fantasy sports queries or problems then please use
our message board. The
FISO team will be monitoring the board throughout the day/week and it will
enable us to deal more efficiently with any problems or questions you have on
individual games, players or on general subjects, if these are posted on the
board rather than emailed to me. So war commenced in earnest on 18 August but
if you missed it, don't worry there are plenty of other battles that are yet to
start. We take a look at ones you might like to join over the next few weeks. 1. Telegraph Fantasy Football Online - TFFO -
Nationwide League Remember Fantasy League's Classic game goes
into its play-off stages in mid-November and the teams that qualify for the
Champions League play-off will be those towards the top of their 10 man league
at that time. Each 10 man league is set up with other people who join the league
at a similar time to you, so if you are trying to win the main competition prize
you are not disadvantaged by joining late. In fact perhaps it is an
advantage to join during September or October? OFL challenges you to pick a 15 man squad
from a budget of £70m with the ability to play your team in various
formations. You can only pick 2 players from each club. If you want to prove
your management ability then this is the game for you and is well worth at least
one entry costing £10. Not only do you get the chance to win the first prize of
£10,000 (which is after the 'Champions League' play-off) but you get access to
lots of football statistics and the promise of a FREE email on Friday afternoons
containing team news and injury information. As highlighted above, your entry is placed
in a league of 10 teams (all who joined the game at a similar time to you) and
your position in this league at mid November will determine whether you go into
the Champions League, UEFA Cup or Inter-Toto competition. The subsequent play
offs mean that the ultimate winner won't necessarily be the squad accruing the
most points over the season as you're playing off against other teams in each
play-off competition (there's a separate £1,000 prize to the manager with the
most points over the season). Your team changes can be made up to 15
minutes before kick off and you have 20 transfers for the season. A Fantasy Football website dedicated to the
League of Wales has been launched. It is FREE to enter and play, and has a 1st
Prize of £5,000. With £150,000 to spend, you can use your own skill to select
your team online from all the current League of Wales players (with no more than
3 from any club), or pick a random team automatically selected by their
system. 45 transfers per season gives you plenty of scope to adjust to injuries
and form. Scoring commences on 24 August. 4. Ladbrokes League Premier The Ladbrokes League Premier kicks-off on 1
September (no games til 8 Sept though due to Internationals). Entry fee is £5
per team with a first prize of £10,000 on offer and prizes are all the way down
to 6th. Build your team with £75m to spend. To access their fantasy sports
pages simply click on Fantasy on their home page. 5. Soccer
Site's Fantasy Football Scoring commences on 28 September and there
is a £5 entry fee. Prizes are £150 plus £1.50 for every entry (i.e. 500
entries and the winner's prize will be £900). Monthly prizes on offer as well.
Unlimited transfers carries out once a week give the game an unusual twist. 6. Pickateam Scoring starts on 1 September and you pick
15 players from your £70m budget with no more than 2 from every club. Various
starting formations available. Top prize is a trip to the World Cup. Transfers
limited to one per week but do cost as does team entry. As advertised on Channel
5 apparently. 7. PlayerBoss As highlighted on our message forum. Scoring
starts on 8 September. Select a 16 man squad using £80m with 25 transfers for
the season. 8. The Daily Star's Soccer

Finally, The Sun's Dream
Team game did start 18 August but late entry via their Golden Gamble is
available between 3pm 18 August and 8 September which enables you to consider
player form. You however do not accumulate the points scored in those first
week(s). The Golden Gamble can be very useful given the lack of transfer
opportunities in this game. We did also come across the following two games (Lycos
and Premiergoal) before the start
of the season but did not highlight these to you. Both charged significantly for
each set of transfers you did and therefore whoever was prepared to spend more
on his/her team had more chance of winning. This is not how we feel games should
be run. Additionally Premiergoal were highlighting a first prize of £100,000
but this was subject to 32,000 paying customers entering. In our opinion this
was highly unlikely. Check them out if you wish! Again please see each competitions own full
terms and conditions of entry before joining. Next week sees the long overdue review of the latest in soccer sim games! FSN 31 17 August 2001 It's almost your last chance to get your
entries in before the EPL season kicks-off, so to make sure you haven't missed
one of the newspaper games, we've covered them here for you. Most of the games
have online entry so if you're not able to pop out this lunchtime and buy a
paper, we've included the online link. Want to check out the latest soccer news headline
or interested in the latest Arsenal,
Chelsea, Liverpool
or Man Utd news to
confirm rumours on your player picks? Then try these links out. They contain the
latest headlines from a number of major sports websites and are updated every 15
minutes. They're a very easy way to see the latest news from across the world
rather than relying on just one website's sports news. Need help on score predictions for the
Premiership or can't remember whether a Premiership player is injured? As the
season progresses, we'll be expanding our message forum
to include this information. UK Newspaper Fantasy Football Competitions Please note the prize and entry details for all games are for
