FS Record: Would be alot better but for Andy L & E !
SM - when you next read this just wondered if the leaderboard could have the managers name as well.

Can everyone pull together to get SM to turn off visibility of others teams!

It is stupid, unfair & ruins a sporting element of the game.

All a mini entrant can do is make the transfer very close before kick off, hoping the multi can't replicate in time. A multi can probably cover all practical options regardless. But worse is if a mini player only has zero transfers left...sitting duck in super-glue now that it's known.

Perhaps they can't change rules now, but surely this is in everyones interest (even for a multi v multi).

Only in the multi interest.
It evens the playing field for single entrants which is all to the good imo.

Now that the important post above is out of the way

I'm focussing on the season prizes, if only for the 1st month. Then when I see how bad they are all doing, I'll use them 30 in a flash.
I suppose I still stuck some Everton & Spurs in there, hindsight shouldn't have.

Didn't consider trans so far, plenty of time to win nothing yet

I see S Long is not listed as player yet.

I'd rather not have teams visible. But everyone knew the rules when they entered. You can't just go changing the rules now because you think they're unfair. Its a very slippery slope if that ever happens. The rules are the rules.

Before you know it you'll be asking to have Obertan reclassed as a midfielder :P

Just giving my support to the main bug bear remaining.
Rest is trivial

Although I only have three teams and really don't like the visibility, and didn't know about it until after I'd entered, I'd also be totally opposed to a change now that the game has started, as YTM would then certainly be on your slippery slope to mob rule.

Let's lobby for all managers with more than 20 teams to be disqualified on the grounds that its unfair on those of us with smaller entries.

We've already mentioned visibility of other teams earlier in the thread - it may be new to the ytm game, but it's always been a feature of sm games, it's just the way it is.

No-one on this thread seems to have brought up the absolute most important issue - THE SITE WAS DOWN THIS AFTERNOON, "server too busy" apparently for most of the crucial period between the chelsea and manu matches. I recall wasting too many hours of some hot summer days in 2008 trying to access the metro site to make transfers for their euro game, also run by sm. We had many apologies, and then assurances at the time that all would be well, but the game collapsed (and indeed was abandoned unfinished) as the servers could not cope; i'd like some cast iron guarantees that we're not all wasting our time, and money, with this game too.

They obviously can't give any guarantees. In fact inefficiency of their web-site during the entry period made me believe that it would be a miracle if we got through the season without a few cock ups of the type that you describe and others. Hence my small entry, as I don't mind wasting a few quid, but I'd really resent a lot of time wasted.

Even if they complied with your request Bruce, your name still wouldn't be visible.

@ striker - agree.

@ mharv - see this thread silent-manager-t86980.html
i had issues with silentmanager at the time as had been doing quite well in the euro game, up until it went the shape of a pear.

@ bruce (bear) - agree, though names will probably be in the comic at some point during the week.

@ anyone moaning about teams being visible - change the record, it's a feature of silentmanager games, as it is ofl games and maybe some other providers too; if you don't like it, play something else.

@ silentmanager - please could you ensure that the site does not go down again and that your servers are equipped to deal with an even higher traffic level than you had bargained for. Were this a totally free to enter game, the customers might not have good reason to complain, but now that we're in the pay-to-play market with some proper prizes, i think we deserve an efficiently run game accessible at all times. Other games providers have clearly had troubles this weekend, even the previously excellent ism; you have the opportunity to make some gains in the market, if you can sort this out.

Thank you, that is all.

Well, for now anyway.

steve

I did mention the site being down but no one replied.

Its stating the obvious that that is the main issue with the game.

It just can't be allowed to happen. Makes the Daily Mirror look like a complete joke.

Now its happened once Silent Manger should know the problems and get them fixed. There really is no excuse for it happening again even once. Even if it means spending a little bit of money, go to the Mirror and get it sorted.

Hi All

Sorry for the lack of response over the last few days - obviously we've been pretty busy over the first w/e. Responses to a number of points are as follows:

Site not available yesterday PM: Firstly, you're right there was a problem and sorry for those affected  . To explain - this was not an issue with the database server (which is the area affected by traffic, which we and other providers have had traditional load problems with). If anything this would have been affected Saturday where we witnessed the highest concurrent traffic load over the w/e. The situation which occurred yesterday PM (which from our logs was approx an 1 1/2 hrs) related to one of the web servers not re-freshing 'app pools'. The site is managed by a number of web servers which is why some of you would have experienced this problem and others not. We re-fresh 'app pools' every 24 hours, this has been moved to every 8 hours to avoid this issue happening again. We operate a load balance solution - so this should not have happened, we're investigating now why the traffic from the non web server was not distributed. No excuses - just an explanation and an apology to those affected.
Number of teams: There are a large number of teams in the game - 100k +. A lot as some of you have already identified are swelled by the 'free' teams
Display of manager names: We'll switch this on today.
Points Processing & League Displays: As outlined - we will as a rule aim to have these updated within 3 hours of matches finishing and due to the weekly prizes a full QA match centre check within 48 hours. The leagues can take a little longer to update - with 100k+ teams we usually would expect leagues to update within 4 hours after points have gone into everyones teams.
Customer support: We appreciate some of the feedback on the forum. Emails will be dealt with in a 24 hour period within a working week (Monday to Friday) - but if you have a pressing matter or a non satisfactory response please do call us on 0844 8804 573. We do try to respond to email queries as detailed as we can, but it can be difficult for us to interpert the 'issue' in the way the context of the question is written, so sometimes over the phone it's easier to get a better understanding.

We hope the above points covers some of the key points highlighted over the last few days. We'll review this post again tomorrow and respond then...in the meantime, any direct questions do please feel free to call.

Thanks

A table for the £1000 prize bottom ofthe league would be useful...£1000 being at stake and no-one knowing where they stand at the moment.

Looks like the Thames Ditton Didllers are at it again.

No sign of my 11 quid contribution - so the teams that I paid for remain inactive.

Check it now Mil

I have had a couple of wins over the years but I'm not sure if any of them have given me the satisfaction that I feel looking at my bulging virtual wallet :D

You're almost making me regret that I got frustrated and gave up far too easily in trying to open a sQuid account. :D

Haven't kept an eye on the leaderboard this weekend, perhaps they didn't update Sunday's games until today because of the bank holiday

Hi,

This is just a little update on the situation of the "bottom league" (we will come up with a better title, don't worry). We are working on bringing it into the game as soon as possible, but it requires quite a radical rewrite of our leagues system, as you can imagine. We are still on target to have this up by the end of September at the latest, and your patience is appreciated.

Thanks,
SilentManager
