If there is anything you'd like to see on fiso during 2010 then please feel free to make your wishes known below.

This could be content, forum functionality, statistics, applications etc etc.

Best wishes for Christmas.

I wonder if anyone would be in favour of a motoring forum ?

Presumably a lot of people on here drive and a number of things could be discussed, from car faults to accidents, insurance claims to speeding fines.

Pretty much everything else seems to be covered.

There is so much going on throughout Fiso that perhaps we should have an "Events Reminder Forum" so that you can check easily what is happening (meets, golf, etc) under the one roof. :D

I like that Pa - A calendar perhaps with dates of events and cut offs for entering and doing transfers for the games.
Easy to miss the last day of something

Making hidden Forums not so hidden.

We, the Fiso Poker Society (Currently the 3rd best Poker Forum until Jan 24th 2010 where we hope to go better  ) very nearly missed out on representing Fiso in the APAT Poker Forum Championship due to APAT being unable to locate our hidden Forum. Thankfully they eventually found us after PM's and passwords, so the Jolly Boys outing is back on :D

Point is half of this Forum probably dont know where to find us let alone APAT who use this competition to advertise themselves within the Poker world. We'll all be kitted out in our Fiso t'shirts and hoodies :D and during the Tourney no doubt enquiries will be made regarding Fiso and we may get a few visiters who visit the Casino Forum, find nothing on Poker and leave. They might hang around but may never get the chance to read djshawks poker blog or find out how bad Nutties taste in music actually is

I get the point about people not wanting to read poker posts but theres plenty of junk at the top of 'new topics' as it is. And you dont have to open every single thread if you dont want to

Change the "New Posts" icon function so that it doesn't display if subforums have new posts. The example I'm thinking of is the OFL forum, which quite often indicates that a new post has been made, but when I click on the link it is one of the many subforums with a new post.

Hope that makes sense.

Personally, I'd make all hidden forums fully visible. FISO has so many forums now that having an extra few putting posts on the "Latest Posts" link isn't going to hurt anyone, and I'm sure some of the "hidden societies" would appreciate some more exposure!

The annoying 'mouse over´of a title of a thread to give you a starter, but then it does not go away, but follows you around the screen

A Customisable latest posts ability. So I can exclude poker/cricket etc if I want to.

The 'ticker' feasture on another site is a good idea, (plots runs of easy/difficult games) am sure the brains of FISO could expand on that and come up with our own 'operating system' as it were.

Also, the quoting feature tends to add lines of space, which makes posts very long if quoting a quote of a quote etc. I've tidyed a few up moderating but some code might be an idea.

Changing the Dumbledore status to Moderator is probably a good idea, but there is chat about the benefits of that ongoing.

Just a couple of idea's.

I think the Calendar is a great idea. Perhaps colour coding events as well (ie real-life events, fantasy game entry deadlines, FISO mini League entry deadlines as well & Major sporting events)

I would also love the FISO Golf Society to be open to the masses (although that may in itself mean the demise of www.thefriendlygolfer.com, which probably hasn't had the success we would've hoped for)

The choice to 'reply to sender' and not to 'all' when replying to a PM that was sent to you and a number of other people.
At very least the default should be to the sender only, with the option of sending to everyone if you wish.

Calendar sounds useful, and maybe all those who organise games etc could add their various deadlines?

The 'mouse over' thing is handy - and on my machine it doesn't follow me around as has been mentioned...?

This is the kind of Calendar I had in mind where you can add new events, single all day events and recurring events. You could also view it as a Daily or Monthly Calendar. :D

I agree if it is configurable by users, rather than a Generic one, with irrelevant stuff on.

If there is some real whizz, it could be automated with a button to include with FPL GW's, SDT transfer windows etc...

A Google Calendar might be the way to go - separate calendar started by appropriate moderator for said section, and then a list of them and how to subscribe somewhere. That way people need only subscribe to those they want to subscribe to - lest the calendar becomes over-full with stuff about TFF and FPL and we can't see when the next FISO poker meet is.

It's a biggie but I'd love to see a proper Fantasy Football game that could one day take over the world. The newspaper games are all going down the toilet in various ways so why not go for it now?

I know it is a lot of hassle and effort (not mine) - which is why the current Fantasy Manager is very simplistic - too simple to do the job of providing a game I'd like.

The TFF of a few years back would be a good starting point!

No MOTMatch, proper thought about KCs, limited transfers per week to make proper MOW/MOTMonth comps.

FA Cup debatable for me....

It already exists Murf - FPL with 2.2 million players around the globe. Bigger than all the other FF games ,free or paid for, put together.
There has been a mass migration from other FF games to FPL this season, and far more will follow next season, due to it's newly discovered popularity among minileague admins.

If the newspapers with all their revenue, resources, and readership following, can't compete with FPL, "amateurs" have no chance of doing so.

I know you tried FPL and couldn't get to grips with it,but I'm sure you would if you persevered, and joined in the sidegames !

FPL's the future and it's here now for anyone to join this very week and have fun for the second half of the season.Don't delay, sign up today ! :D

Im on it this year as my only game, but still dont rate it that much. Too much effort required for that one and not very easy to grasp.

for me the best format is the OFL game. Very easy to understand rules, very easy to grasp but the site is not its best.

I think it would be useful to have a Sticky of the achievements of FISO Members and the superleagues in the various fantasy games.

Would not take long to set up would be easy to maintain.

If people are visiting the site for the first time it might be a good hook and help them appreciate the depth of potential knowledge etc on the site and this might be a good site to hang around.

Assumes people would be happy to share the info of course.

I suggested years ago that FISO run it's own version of Fantasy Football incorporating all that is good from the Newspaper Games and omitting the bad. We have enough computer experts on Fiso to set up the game, and for the first year or two we could run it internally until we find our feet. I suppose we would need some sort of Gaming Licence but I am sure that if we got the go ahead we could manage in the first year around 5,000 Fisoers paying £10 a head and hope to double that number in the second year before eventually taking on the Media Games.

Other outfits actively promote their Fantasy Games on Fiso and recruit members from here, so why don't we go it alone. "Carpe diem". :D

One issue with this is that unless it was open to editing the Mod (or whomever) would need to make all of the changes themselves. If it's left open for changes than there's a potential for it to be messed up by others (as happened with my Metro mini-league spreadsheet). That said, I agree with the idea.

5000 Fisoers paying £10 each to enter a FF competition and 10,000 Fisoers paying £10 each in year 2 ? Pie in the sky I'm afraid, pa102aw
You'd struggle to get that many playing if it was free to enter, let alone having to pay £5 or £10 to enter.

People are already quitting some of the established FF games despite them being free to play.

Furthermore,do you think that if Fiso's FF game proved sufficiently superior to existing FF games to attract such numbers, that the newspaper games producers would not follow suit ?
