Annual Full Membership to the Leeds Golf Centre. Apparently it's a really nice set-up/course according to one of my friends who is a member at a Leeds course nearby. Worth £859 now according to their website.

Well done Knotty :)

You should be able to get someone to buy it (although are you sure that the T&Cs allow for a prize to be transferred?)

It's a nice, friendly club (my children are all members and I have played it regularly). On the other hand I don't think it's worth anywhere near £859 at the moment (in terms of pricing I would have thought that £500 was still on the expensive side). There are a huge number of much higher quality clubs within 3 miles where you can become a member for around that or less eg Sand Moor, Moor Allerton, Headingley, Leeds (Cobble Hall) and Scarcroft.

There are even good pay and play options (Roundhay, The Village). I am a member at a club just up the road which charges around the same price and is a different league in terms of quality.

It's also probably worth pointing out that this year they are undertaking fairly significant changes to the course and therefore I expect that the course/play will be disrupted (although they will have to manage this carefully to ensure that there aren't grumblings from existing members). These changes are designed to bring the course up to a higher standard and to try to attract more members. At the moment it is still a little bit on the easy side and there are too many holes that are a drive and a short iron. They are introducing more water and redesigning all but 3 or 4 holes.

Having said all of that they have invested a lot of money in the course and facilities over the last year and the Par 3 course is nice. When all the work is done it will be a very different course.

Chrismar comes from Leeds, not sure if he plays golf though. If he doesn't this might encourage him to take it up and he could then join the rest of us for the Fiso Golf outings. :D

Congratulations knotty - definately 'king' of the YP game.

If transferable, you can always flog it on ebay! :)

Thanks for the congrats, guys.

Not sure about transferring it, will need to wait and see what they say when they get in touch I guess.

Nice, info X-Man. To be perfectly honest (not playing golf and so not interested in it myself) I'd be more than happy with somewhere around £250 for it.

eBay defo been considered and will be tried (if allowed).

6 weeks on and still no sign of prize, not even a confirmation e-mail from anyone, be it either the Yorkshire Post or the Leeds Golf Centre.

:(

Sent an e-mail to the "contact us" on the website and got a 1 line response from Silent Manager (on 9 Jan) to say that they would take it up with the game sponsors etc but heard nothing since.

Any ideas?

seems an obvious thing to say, but have you tried contacting Yorkshire Post or Leeds Golf Centre direct rather than relying on SM to do it?

I have some email contact details for the chap at Leeds golf center who sorts all the prizes.

When I get home I will dig them out for you - he was quite helpful when I claimed my swing analysis prize.

Have sent you a PM with 3 email addresses at YP that were used when complaining about late/non delivery of 2010 game prizes from De Vere Oulton Hall (not that they seemed then to be at all bothered about De Vere's poor attitude towards providing the prizes).

Finally managed to get in touch with them and am collecting the prize on Thursday (22 Mar). They have already agreed to just give me a voucher that I can pass onto someone else, given I don't play.

Full Annual membership is £859 (per their website).

I have put it on eBay (reserved at £250, don't mind disclosing on here). Have run it for 7 days from now.

eBay listing
