Got watching a little telly this morning before going to work and thought of a tv programme i'd like to see, so I sent a short e.mail to a geezer at the BBC.

Probably rubbish, but has to be better than Alan Partridges 'Arm wrestling with Chas and Dave'

e.mail :-

Hello,

I was effing channels on Sky today, when I came across an episode of Himalaya which I really enjoyed. A bit later I saw a kids programme about a family living within the Arctic circle in Canada. Last night I caught the US apprentice and recently have enjoyed watching your documentary 'Tribe'.

So what ?

Well, my idea is that all these programmes are linked by extremes - the cold - the heat - the excesses of big corporate business - the harshness of living at altitude. I was intrigued as to how each of them would fare in the others world and what an educational experience it would be for them all to experience a week in the life of the other. 10 people from 10 very different environments all experiencing each others world.

1. Extreme cold
2. Extreme heat
3. Extreme altitude
4. War zone living
5. Excessive living- the Trump, Hefner big business type people
6. Living in a monsoon environment
7. Extreme poverty
8. LA gangland, drugs, violence and prostitution
9. Monastery
10.Jungle life

I think this would be captivating, intriguing and fantastically educational. Once it was done with adults, perhaps a follow up with children ?

Just my idea, probably rubbish but i'd watch it !

Cheers for your time

If you see it on telly, it was all my idea !

Can't see it catching on unfortunately. A good idea but all the 'fish out of water' stuff goes down to the lowest common denominator. Bigoted idiot losers on 'wife swap' and bimbos trying to do a 'job swap' or whatever.

Can't believe Peaches Geldof was allowed to be the one to try and find out what life was like as a Muslim. The world is mad...

Hmmm, maybe. Peaches Geldof in a warzone would be good fun though and Hugh Hefner in a monastery

BBC made a big success with the Michael Palin stuff and it caught on with an audience that wanted to be educated and this was my idea really.

I see what you say but I would hope the BBC would have a bit more class about them. :?

Job swap with Jimmy Quinn (ex Shrews and newly appointed Cambridge boss) and Jose Mourinho. I'd watch that!

Palin's ones and The Tribe have all been about one person seeing various things. Yours is a nice twist and maybe the swapping person each time could be accompanied by the Palin type presenter so they both experience it and 'Palin' can also experience the other person's discomfort etc.

The idea is growing on me...

For me personally sounds a good idea but they would have to be people outside the mould because normal people would just be boring. They would have to have something extra to make it interesting TV.

Not seen it, but what I do know is that there are lots of programmes about people living in harsh conditions, but I am certain I have never seen a programme where a group of people, all from the harshest of conditions, get to experience the extremes of somebody elses life.

I think it would be great fun to watch.

What would the poor African tribesman think of the Alaskan eskimos life ?
What would the man from the jungle/rain forest think of the rich businessmans life ? Imagine a group of 10 of them, let loose in the excesses of Las Vegas !!
What would the man from the dryest place on earth think of life in the monsoon areas of Bangladesh ?

How on earth would they describe their experiences to their families and friends at home ?

Have you seen 'Holiday Showdown' on ITV, Shrews? It shows 2 families going together on the others favourite holiday for a week each. Normally, of course, the 2 families hate each other and the holiday. And sometimes they are from vastly different classes as well. Think of a family who love sitting on a beach, going on holiday with a family who love walking and/or museums. Your idea sounds like an exteme extension of that programme.

Karrde having to join the rebels?

Hardbody having to take a dump in public?

Murf having to be a wolf, ( in sheep's clothing?)

I am not sure if anyone noticed this but on Ceefax the other day there was a page saying that the BBC are about to make a programme on how six women experience each others lives in some of the worst extremes on Earth. :D

Not quite what I wanted but similar.

Presumably, this programme was already in the pipeline when I wrote my e.mail to them...........or was it ? :?

It would of been nice of them to acknowledge my e.mail at the very least !
