Mate of mine got an interview and eventually a good job on the back of saying he loved drinking beer on his CV. The spelling mistakes would make me put a huge red cross through this though.

Interestingly that sort of thing was covered on one of my training courses. Saying that if I had a client that enjoyed a "drink" then to make sure I matched the candidates to match that

fyi, one of the smellling pistakes was "iam a amiture xxxxx".

High risk strategy that though - I wouldnt recommend it!
Change that - I think he got lucky , was a totally stupid thing to put on a cv!

A friend of mine put down 2 comments on his UCAS form. (University entrance form)

"I enjoy frequenting public houses and enjoy the taste of real ale"

and

"I work weekends on a chicken farm. The smell was terrible at first. But they soon got used to it"

Got into Farnborough tech

Interesting point that. Not everyone wants a metronome, do they?

Training courses for CVs. Teaching people to mislead employers is a little underhand,I would say.

It wasn't a training course for CV's, just a basic training course in recruitment consultancy.

But I have been on some very interesting course in the past that have been *ahem* let's just say - far from ethical :|

I might be exaggerating when I say they are far from ethical, but definitely some tactics that you wouldn't want to use......

I'll give you one example -

When cold calling to try and speak to an MD or FD - should you come across a snotty / hard to get passed gate keeper, when she asks you what it's about you could say "IT'S ABOUT MY WIFE". Apparently you should use a nasty tone when saying it as if to say that the MD/FD is having an affair with her (your wife). Switchboard person would put you through without announcing your call as wouldn't want to interfere.

*disclaimer* I have never used that tactic!
