Think I might have blown us £100 this week with my starman extra striker selection...  Adebayor! Against 10 men, he returns zip!

Had Arsenal 4 at the back, including Vermaelen 8-) , and Jones alongside them 8-) . Added Vidic :D

Midfield of Walcott, Ramsey and Silva, Nani added....lacks a goal, Arteta or Bale added would have been nice.

Hernandez  , Gervinho :) and RVP :) up top.

Oh well, reasonable start in the monthly, though Hernandez will make that one unlikely :(

Just noticed that Vid has moved into 2nd place in our Mini League, but I also noticed that he has 9 Man City players in his team

Not sure if that's against the rules though :D

TURN OF THE YEAR REPORT CARD.

Edmonson has taken over at the top with his Arsenal 8 and is looking at Pa's £25 first place prize, but let us remember how quickly Ashers came tumbling from his lofty perch after being up there for so long with his Fulham Block. :|

Edmonson's £25 Manager of the year award (if presented at this moment) could possibly go to The Pom for taking his Swansea 8 into second place, a worthy feat. Let us however not forget Doofyman who has rewarded the League with a £100 win with his Sunderland 8. Both could be contenders.

Currently in 8th place and hoping to collect the Elkmasters coveted £25 'Octopus Prize' is Ronny, but this changes on a weekly basis and could go to the last game of the Season.

Zimmermans £25 Prize for the highest positioned team out of this lot. Blackburn, Bolton, Norwich, QPR, Swansea, West Brom, Wigan and Wolves could also go to the Pom with his Swansea Squad, but that's highly unlkely to happen, is it

Dunce of the Season: Vid for creating his Team using 9 Man City Players  (and they said that it couldn't be done)

Anyone in this mini-league got a clue what to do now :(

Along with three others I pledged a £25 prize in this.
The 4 were

Pa £25 to the winner
Edmonson £25 to Pa's nominated manager of the season
Me £25 to the manager who finishes in 8th place
Zimm £25 to the winner of the 8 teams he nominated at the start.

Obviously Pa's prize no longer exists
Edmonson £25, perhaps we can change that to the winner?
I can still pay as planned
Zimm can still pay as planned.

On a personal note, I'm quite willing to call it a day with this mini-league and forward my £25 I pledged onto Vid to go towards monies already collected (I think that I read that it was going towards the cost of Pa's headstone).

Obviously everyone needs to agree, thoughts please....

I think we carry on. As you say, edmo's money goes to the winner (could be himself)! Both our prizes still stand.

I think John would want the interest and game to carry on.

As for his memorial fund, I've already contributed towards that as has Edmo I think.

Happy to go with the consensus though.

It was John's baby and pretty sure he would want it to continue, I will take over the £25 that John was putting in to the winner so the game prizes can remain the same :D

Doofyman is currently in the lead i the Feb monthly.

Do we allow him to make changes to focus on that or does he have to keep to the rules?

His choice but as any winnings were to go into the group pot it would make sense for him to chase it, not having the required number of players would then invalidate him from the competition prizes (is he in contention for any?), 2 birds in 2 bushes, none currently in the hand.

I'd be happy to enter this next year (prizes are immaterial to me) following the same or a tweaked format as long as competition, teams and ML all carried mention of pa.

Doofyman must have a shout as 'manager of the season' as Pa had mentioned. Perhaps the best way to do this one now, is for me as prize sponsor, to stick up 3 nominations and then everyone can vote?

Doofyman had already made 2 transfers in his side before seeing monthly update, so perhaps missed the full opportunity to chase the monthly. Who knows though a couple more Sunderland cleans....

I think it would be good to carry this league on next season, "The Pa 8 Cup" it should lend itself to someone winning a prize in the main game, wdt or monthly. Perhaps we can tweak the rules to allow managers to go 'off course' to chase monthlies without invalidating their line up. A wildcard allowed between 2 of the windows. Maybe also allow 7 players from some of the dross sides, so it becomes more even on the draw.

Maybe a discussion for another thread.

But perhaps some sort of handicap based on unused funds?
Say at 35ppm?
So my team costs £40m I'd get 350 points.
No idea on current totals whether this figure is realistic (gone on the fact that 40-50ppm seems to be the usual figure wheeled out as expected vfm).

It would have to be based on the average cost across the season.

I'm quite sure that pa would have grasped that idea with both hands! Either the idea or your neck :-)

About time we had a table update for this. Shock  Horror  JPK has stormed into the lead with his very nicely priced Spurs 8.

Doofyman is laying best claim for Manager of the Season, doing wonders in the current monthly with his Sunderland 8, not sure about dodgy Greek at the back  !! He has already bagged a WDT ton. Surely someone else will do us proud this weekend??

The Pom is easily the best of the dross, Swansea still going great guns.

Doddsy sitting comfortably in 8th place, maybe a surge of Liverpool clean sheeting in the cups v championship fodder will push him out that money spot :(

Doofyman bags another wdt £100 win. Well played Gary. 8-)

And also goes back top of the monthly with not too far to go.....

Next season would be good to try and have teams as good as they can be in the actual game, as Doofyman has shown, prizes should be possible. Therefore not sure I favour a handicap system for leftover funds. If everyone was willing to commit 2 teams, we could have 1 drawn from top 10 pl teams and 1 from bottom 10. Then 40 teams in the league, more chance of wdt and monthly wins :D

The Pa 8's League

All teams named Pa 8 Liverpool, Pa 8 Arsenal etc.

Do you think the handicap would encourage people to submit poor teams?

There could be an element of taking a better value player + some extra points for leftover funds, rather than an 8m gun that soaks up the budget. However maybe we're talking Aguero at 5.5m v Rooney at 8m, so accept it doesn't necessarily lead to poorer teams, down to opinion, however as a rule the pricing reflects the quality / riskiness of the player.

Yes, rules state that all prize money won from this league is split evenly.

I personally think we should donate the two WDT wins to John's headstone.

pa102aw wrote:

If any of the individual teams entered into the League should win prize money for a Seasonal, Monthly, WDT, or any other individual prize, this prize money will be divided equally between all of the participating members of the Mini League. Obviously if the Sun change the format of the game for this Season then the above may have to be ammended accordingly. All Team Names when entered must contain the Nr 8 in them. For instance 'Pa 8 Mince' ..............STRICTLY ONLY ONE ENTRY PER FISO MEMBER

I was always up for 7 players from the same team, I think pa always had these teams in mind with a wdt attempt
