Tough call but i'd go for Molinari, Rose and Donald

Rose as he's showed form and holes a lot of putts, Molinari for his enthusiasm and confidence not to mention his form and natural partnership with his brother and Donald for his Ryder Cup record.

Harrington has not got points the last two cups and Casey..................... not showing great form and i just dont like the guy!

I think he'll go for Harrington, Casey and Donald

Who would you pick?

Harrington, Molinari and Donald, I just don`t think Rose has the spine for it, Harrington will produce, no question.

I also think that's who he'll go with. I'd personally pick Molinari instead of Harrington on current form, but very much doubt that Monty would consider leaving out a three-time Major winner.

I would like to see the Molinari brothers in the team!

I'm a bit disappointed in Casey, Donald, Rose and Harrington going off chasing the Fed-Ex money, I know Monty won't cut off his nose to spite his face, but I'd love to see Molinari, Dyson and Gallagher getting the nod. :)

But that won't happen so I'm expecting Harrington, and Rose to make up the 12 with E. Molinari as the surprise package.

Edoardo Molinari, with brother Francesco, they're World Champions as a pair, could be as potent as Seve & Olly.

Paul Casey, bags of experience and great Matchplay player.

Rhys Davies, Welsh - don't underestimate the value of a local player, course record holder on the 2010, one of the best putters on the Tour.

Missing out -

Harrington, poor record in the comp and no consistent form to speak of for 18 months.

Donald, just doesn't play in Europe enough

Rose, same as Donald

Simon Dyson, one of the hottest players in Europe right now - could he carry that to October, who knows ?

The other big question is 'Does Pavin pick Woods' ?

I think he'd love to leave him out, but I'm not sure the sponsors / TV companies will let that happen

Be fair to Donald, he came over and played a long stretch - successfully - earlier in the year, including the Wales open at Celtic Manor.

Harrington didn't produce last time out - perhaps it was just too much after winning back-to-back Majors?

Rose had a good round today but his best form is a while back. He may have a good rapport with Poulter but that would be a double gag for Monty.

Perhaps the decision hinges on Dyson. If he does well enough he can knock Jimenez or Hanson out the team. He was in good form last year, hitting form again now and did a decent job in last year's Seve Trophy. If he gets in at the expense of Jimenez, I think the latter will get a pick given experience and decision to cancel going to a family wedding to play at Gleneagles.

Edoardo Molinari should be in really. The 'brothers gambit' after their WC win is such an obvious one, but maybe only a perverse fool like Monty would ignore it. Fact is, he'll lost whatever credibility he has left if he picks all 3 wildcards from the US Tour after his big noises earlier in the year.

Casey's nailed on for me. Came second to Poulter in the World Matchplay this year and always a tough competitor.

Reckon Harrington's in too - looks like he's coming back into form and he is a 3 time major winner.

And I don't have a scooby about the last one! :P Rhys Davies an interesting call but with so many more experienced players / higher ranked players available doubt he'll make it. Easy to make a strong case for each of Donald, Rose and Molinari.

In Hanson and Molinari he already has two rookies who could freeze on the big occasion.

I expect Monty to therefore go for experience, after all, who would the US fear more, Harrington, Casey and Donald or Dyson, Molinari and Davies?

Tough on Rose, Dyson and Molinari, but you can't beat having already experienced the Ryder Cup atmosphere.

Good point but Molinari less likely to freeze with his brother there and Eduardo lacks nothing in confidence

Thats why i'd have him and two experienced.

They seemed to do ok in the World Cup

What do you do if they win 5/4?

Its the same as you do with anyone: Harrington has about 2 points from 9 in the last 2 Ryder Cups n'est pa?

Does Molinari's recent statements smack of confidence or someone who might rock the boat a bit. Room for his ego alongside Poulter's in the dressing room, especially if he is selected ahead of Poulter's best mate?

Who is Europe's premier pairing likely to be, or the two or three pairs that will play 3 of the 4 matches on first 2 days? Any player you think will play 4 out of 4 in first two days?

Westwood's calf likely to restrict him to maybe 18 holes per day?

I think McIlroy and McDowell, then probably Poulter and Rose would be the strongest pairings, could cope with 4 out of 4 if needed.

Allows the rookies to be rotated in with the likes Westwood, Jimenez and Casey.

I think Donald / Casey is also one to send out first up. Or Fisher could slot in with either of those.

If Monty goes Harrington, Casey, Donald....we could be one natural pairing short, hoping a couple of team mates click during practice.

Edoardo Molinari now a 2x winner on the 2010 European Tour, closing with 3 birdies to win by 1.

He must be a pick. To do otherwise will make a mockery of the European Tour and perhaps hasten the drain to the US.

If he does get the nod, Donald would arguably be the most likely to make way - but he's just birdied the first three holes in The Barclays! It's a no win situation for Monty, methinks...but I do hope Molinari makes it in.

Yep, Molinari for me now, great closing 3 holes.

Casey, Molinari and Donald.

I reckon Monty had Harrington in there prior to today, but has just scrubbed him out.

Donald, Harrington and E Molinari now confirmed.

I sussed Donald was in when I saw Torrance quoted as saying he would pick him - a week ago he said he'd drop him

They should pick the top 5 from the European Tour Points first and then the World Rankings - wouldnt have Hansen and Jimenz then :)

A bit of criticism coming out so far for the Harrington pick - ordinary Ryder Cup record, poor form and little commitment to Europe. Experience and three majors on his CV I suppose got him in. Rose was one of the few positives for Europe two years ago and is playing well, also considered a natural pairing with Poulter so perhaps a bit unlucky to miss out.

Will be a lot down to how the rookies perform, it's a new look team, and also the American line-up - I think if they pick Tiger it will play into Europe's hands.
