Just trying to gauge some opinion on when I should start thinking about this. I'm thinking of waiting until gameweek 20 or so, but any opinions welcome.

Also welcome any suggestions on how to improve the best side-game on FISO that involves golf. 8-)

It is a cracking side game Da and I am generally keeping my FPL sidegame powder dry in order to help our defence of the Cup 8-)

Should the start of the FPL Cup be a consideration? In case Canary goes off on his 100 transfer bag again  and knackers out the likes of Stuart El_Pappleby who have to play every rubber to cover for him

Get the terminology right.

It's only a rubber in Davis Cup. You're barred for that. :D

Ahem.

But from 1993 until the Saturday foursomes at Oakland Hills when he asked to be rested, Montgomerie had played every rubber of every match.

Go and dig out the threads from last year - it was an awesome side comp, and YODa led the US, under Trevor Immelxman's captaincy, to an absolute THUMPING of the Europeans

It would appear that for once I am not to late to sign up for a side game. If you are thinking of starting it off for gw 20 then I am in time!

A cracking comp ! I was lucky to be a vice captain (losing) but the ryder cup had me checking my opponents score on the wap in the pub come singles gameweek. A sign of a good side comp or a drunken saddo

Da, i'd save this one until GW 20, 21 - starting Jan to beat the Jan blues.
About half the royal rumblers will be eliminated by then.
Base the qualifing criteria exactly the same as last year for tradition.
No guaranteed places for last years crop, bleed the fresh blood etc

I wouldn't start it now especially with the global sailing side comp about to start.

^^

Sums up pretty much exactly what I think about this comp. Looking forward to it later in the year. :D (Unless of course you decide to start it early)

Sounds like an interesting side game, will have to have a look at last year's thread(s) about it. Hopefully i can join in and boost the Europeans with some more Irish blood, and maybe even knock in the winning putt a la McGinley :D (although, i'd probably bottle it n knock it into the water!)

I qualified for that team like everyone else, and much like Jean Van de Velde was dismayed at being left to rot on the sidelines and got annihilated in my singles match due to lack of practice.

Besides which i am technically the only major winner since i am claiming Aknels masers title by default since i was leading it and no-one outscored me afterwards. Bloody OBN.

Shouldnt this only be every 2 years? I cant believe we have to defend it so soon.

Maybe non-qualifiers can run a Walker Cup alongside it!

I spouted similar stuff last year about making the winning putt since the Ryder cup was in Ireland and all that. I also used the name Shawdraig Harrington as my player name. Thing is that I don't think I won a single point!

Nope you didn't! :) Was reading the thread earlier, very poor, but your performance can only get better! well, unless you don't qualify for the team at all :)
maybe you'd be better off aiming for the captaincy
