And no I am not referring to the Peter Cook and Dudley Moore sketch

I am inbetween jobs at the moment so am making do with the occasional days worth of temping jobs. Today I had an assignment, when I was offered it last night I was told it was to do some landscaping for a company a about 20 miles away. I accepted the offer as I thought it could be quite fun to do a bit of gardening and get paid for it.

I wasn't however expecting what was to come! I have spent the entire day bending down and picking up stones in a field! It was on a construction site where they were going to be building a new playing field. The company that was used to provide the top soil prior to the grass seed being administered hadn't seived the soil properly and there were rocks and stones amongst it. The Landscaping company I was working for had been hired to sort out the mess. There is likely to be enough stones and rocks still onsite to keep people working on it for the next 3 days   thankfully I have an interview tomorrow so can't go back!

Now, I am an office boy by trade so you can probably imagine what pain I am in right now!!! :(

Any way, whats the worse job YOU have ever had to do?

Catching turkeys for artificial insemination was interesting. Straightening loaves of bread probably the dullest (i sh1t ye not - whole night shifts in a bakery spent straightening loaves of bread as they came down the conveyor into the packing machines, which couldn't cope if the loaves went in at an angle)

Putting 99p stickers on pot plants.

Lasted 45 minutes before boredom set in.

Working in a factory pushing 6 pack of liter lemonade from one conveyor belt to another for 8 hours a day as shift work. Really mind numbingly boring with just the sound of machines everywhere

Sounds a right laugh if you'd put one on upside down. :o

Worst thing was that everyone else was in their 50s and had Classic FM playing.

Work experience aged 16. Worked at Pretty Polly (where they make women's tights etc) and earning the princely sum of 79p/hour !! My job was carrying black bin-bags full of partly-made tights round the factory. When I started I could pick one bag up at a time, and when I finished 5 weeks later, could carry 5 bags in each hand.

Mind-numbingly boring and also deafening from the constant noise of the machines.

Made me appreciate office life. It can be noisy, but not as noisy as a factory.

Egg collecting at a chicken farm every holiday from aged 16 to 20 + a year off after uni - I once did 16 weeks from the Saturday I came back from uni to the saturday I left without a day off. 46c was the hot test it got with nylon overalls, face mask and wellies which were emptied out from the sweat. 3 x 2 hours a day collecting with plenty in between - for the 1st week I had to wear a weightlifting belt to support my back.

Attacked by chickens who did not want eggs taken - hands were covered in blood non stop. Attacked by cockerels.

If I was there when the birds were taken out - it was sh1te shoveling and then creosoting everything that didn't move.

The only good thing was how fit it got you - by week 4 I was running to and from work (4 miles each way) and not eating anything until the evening - when I would have to eat 2 meals!
