FS Record: Best TFF 116th in 10/11, 2010/11 Record - TFF 116th , Metro -110th. £260 of winnings from Side Competitions
I gave up on this game in November, after the Fantasy Football Gods, seemed to decree that most of my players inmy two teams should get injured as well as their replacements, leaving me with No transfers left in Mid November.

This was the game which I performed in best last year (Joint Metro/Daily Mail) and I finished 283rd. I do feel though that I never truly cracked it.

I have periodically took an interest in the last few months and now have a team around 2700th. In other games I have had very good seasons, Best team is 149th in the Telegraph and I have a team that is 139th in the Metro game.

I am looking at What Is The Best Formataion (Initial thoughts for next Season) and from looking at the Points Per Million figures, I would Say 4-5-1 seems to be the way to go.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?

with the 1 sub shouldn't the question be 'how many players in each position in the 12 man squad?' as formations are interchangable dependant on fixtures, I preferred a maximum of 2 strikers so 451/442/532/541, scoring the least points per goal and generally costing alot I didn't feel strikers held much value

My feeling is that you can pick the top strikers when they're in form, for example there've been periods where Drogba, RVP, Tevez, Rooney have each been good value despite the lower points per goal. Maybe this has been exaggerated this year because of the general poor performance of the usual big point-scoring expensive midfielders (Lampard until recently, Fabregas and Gerrard). There've been times when I've had 3 strikers in a lot of my squads, but at some other times most/all of my squads have had just 1 striker.

I'd say my base squad formation would be either 4-5-2 or 5-4-2 (which both leave you quite flexible substitute-wise) but that's very changeable depending on injuries and form. (For example I had a 4-6-1 squad which became 3-6-2 last night via Bale  Tevez. I also think I remember having a 4-3-4 in one squad for a week or two  )

I'm not sure there is a 'best' formation really. I'd guess most of the teams at the top are a bit of a mixture with most swapping around a fair bit over the season. I've been mostly 4-6-1 and sometimes 4-5-2, same last season.

I'm with Reds with the 452 as the most flexibile formation and tend to use it as the basis for all my teams. It really depends where the value lies though and it's been a strange old season with midfielders misfiring as Reds says but also defenders caning the points on occasion and strikers having semi purple patches.

Interesting that Art advocates a 461 though - do you rotate your strikers moving your captain using a transfer in this formation Art?

I wouldn't say I'm a 4-6-1 advocate particularly, that's just how it ended up. I wanted Lampard, Fabregas, Malouda, and Nani and to have them all didn't leave that much for two good forwards. Plus there were a few cheap midfielders like Essien, Song, Nolan so that's just how it worked out.

No, I didn't rotate the forward as captain at all. I started with Drogba, swapped to Tevez then when he got injured to Van Persie. My captain was nearly always Lampard or Fabregas while sometimes transfering in various players when they were injured/not playing or whatever.
