Chelsea ratings a little harsh especially with more West Ham players getting '7' ratings than Chelsea  Infact then I noticed Sears Star Man  Only watched a part of the match but surely a non goal scoring forward should not get SM in a match neither he or his team scored and they lost 3-0 :?:

Freddie sears - star man if this is correct my custom will be gone for next year and I urge others to follow suit, this is about as bad as David Dunn getting it when losing 2-0 to everton

Some of the scores and star men this season have been bloody ridiculous

scoring is subjective, over a season you win some and you lose some!

Agree, but not much consolation when its costs you 450k if you finish 2nd due to the questionable ratings week in week out.

I do wonder if these reporters actually attend any of the games..

I beg to differ.

Sears seemed to be the only man WHU had on the pitch at times.

I thought he had an excellent game.

Jeeezus H Christ. Rooney 9? I've seen players score hattricks and not got a 9.. Everton shut United out, Rooney was a 7 imo, and if his name was Aleksandar and he played in blue it'd be a 6 at best even if he knicked a goal or two.

I'm on your case sun, I know your game.

p.s. Bolton ratings seem about right, was at the game.. missed the first goal as popped for a pie. :P

How the hell does Sears get starman playing 4 a team that loses 3-0, same as Dunn getting it against Everton last week, I would love 2 know has The Sun got any jobs going as a reporter at prem games, hard enough 2 even be in with a chance of a prize but when u see some of these ratings whats the point, plus why is it when Pep Reina keeps a clean sheet he only ever seems 2 get 6/10, yet when he concedes gets a 7+, Think next year will stick with the daily mail were ratings don't come into it....

Reminder. However, ifthey see Lampard's goal as a complete fluke and Sears being more influential than Drogba then maybe a regular reminder of criteria is required rather just being told at the beginning of the season.

Player Ratings In The Sun
A unique component of Dream Team scoring is the points awarded based on the player ratings published with match reports in The Sun.

At the beginning of the season each reporter is issued with strict guidelines – which we have reproduced here.

Any player given a mark of seven or more by our reporters gets three points in Dream Team. And the Star Man (i.e. the reporter’s man of the match) picks up a five-point bonus.

But what are the criteria used by our reporters in calculating those all-important player ratings?

The player ratings are calculated taking both general and specific positional considerations into account.

The criteria are:

Involvement In The Game
If during the overall course of a game a player does not make a positive contribution to his team, then he should not normally get a rating greater than 6.
Inspirational Play
A positive effect on other team members merits a higher rating. Because Dream Team points are allocated for specific events - goals, cautions, clean sheets etc. - there is no need to take these into account in the player rating, unless they stem from the specific positional consideration given below. By way of example, a striker might score two goals in a single game and gets ten Dream Team points for doing so. However both goals could have been complete flukes and, those aside, the striker had no other material involvement in the game. In this case he would not merit a rating of seven or more.
Goalkeepers
Ratings for goalkeepers additionally take the following specific positional criteria into consideration:

Confidence and concentration
Command of the box and set-piece control
Aerial effect
Shot stopping
Minimising the goal as a target
Building offence from defence
Defenders

Ratings for defenders additionally take the following specific positional criteria into consideration:

Protection given to the goal
Confidence
Clearing the ball from the danger area
Set-piece performance
Aerial ability
Tackles made and possession won
Building offence from defence
Midfielders

Ratings for midfielders additionally take the following specific positional criteria into consideration:

Defensive contribution
Winning and retaining possession
Offence building and creation of goal-scoring opportunities
Work-rate and work off the ball
Attacking power
Goal attempts
Strikers

Ratings for strikers additionally take the following specific positional criteria into consideration:

Work-rate and work off the ball
Offence creation
Positional awareness
Creation of goal scoring opportunities
Achieving one-on-one situations
Attacking power
Goal attempts
All criteria have both positive and negative elements and the final rating awarded by a reporter is a combination of these. The Star Man award goes to the player deemed to have made the greatest contribution to the performance of the team.

FS Record: Won 2 works games last year in Sun and The Star
I believe in the N.o.t.w Lampard got an 8 .Different reporter ? I don't think so .All 22 of my works mini league have had enough of stupid scoring system.WE don't enter to win but run our own sweepstakes as I imagine many others do.Sorry Sun , you've lost the plot, next year we will try one of the other fantasy games out there.A bit unfortunate as over the years this forum has been superb .
