I turn it on to wash, and it makes the sound like it's takin on water - then 10 seconds later, a gargle occurs like when it's just finished emptying itself of water and the dial flicks forward.

The washing machine then just sits there looking at me blankly. So - no water is getting to the drum.

I've checked the water feeds, and undid both of them slightly where they join the washing machine, and water leaks out - so somewhere between the connection and the drum I'm guessing there's something I can hit with a hammer to make it work?

Take the back off and hit everything between the water connection and the drum with a hammer.

Then go to Comet and buy the cheapest new one with an all A rating that isn't that make which everyone tells me goes wrong (can't remember which make - maybe Hotpoint - have a look at the front of your broken machine)

A few questions Mark.

1. Make and model no.
2. Have you tried restarting everythig?
3. Does your washing machine have any preinstalled virus protection? Norton antivirus is quite good.

Couldn't resist sorry

PS I know more about PCs than I do Washing machines

Take the waste pipe off and check if it is blocked. Sucking will help.

Agreed. It can be a bigger of a job as it could be well hidden but in reality it needs to be done much more often than most people do it. It's not enough to just do the bits you can access easily. You'll need to take the back/side off and trace the route the outlet pipe takes and locate the main plastic filter thingy.

CAUTION: You will probably see some horrible, horrible things in there. You have been warned. :D

Contrary to Murfs advice, sucking did NOT help - and now I can't get the taste out of my mouth.

OK - I can see the filter and just need fingers like ET to unscrew it. The phone & MSN keeps going, it's like people can SEE that you're busy, so I've given up for the day.

If the filters okay, then you probably have pump failure if it isnt emptying the water.

If it's an old machine your best buying a new one

I can't help, but believe or not there is a washing machine forum!!!!

http://www.washerhelp.co.uk/

It also has reviews should there be a need to buy a new one.

I'm amazed no one has suggested buying an Apple Mac washing machine

Fixed. Me good ol uncle, who some of you may know on here as Stormy. He's not sure how - he just had the top off like me, but I swear he touched somethin and the water started a-swillin.

In a post-fix interview I asked him what his secret was.

He replied....love.

Clean grunts for me tomorrow!!
