I am sure there will be various comments and observations over the next few days on the Volvo so post them here.

Starting with . . . .

Quote:
Miguel Angel JIMÉNEZ 3UP after 5 against Charl SCHWARTZEL

Not a major shock if JIMÉNEZ beat SCHWARTZEL but that's a good start from the spaniard

Good to see that R Goosen was keen to honour his commitment to appear at Golf Live this weekend! Might pop along and ask him about it all. Today's play confirms that the big hitters really like this course. Edfors looks in good shape to beat Schwartzel, and McIlroy may have to improve to beat Colsaerts. Though perhaps not. Who knew that Noh is second in the Tour Driving Distance stats?! He'd be a sneaky pick, if he could do anything else so well!

My combined tours spreadsheet told me Noh was 2nd in Distance which is why he is in my NCG team.

Other Stats on him are :-

Driving Accuracy (Rank 190th @ 45.2%)
Stroke Average (Rank 116th @ 71.73)
Putting (Outside top 200)

Watched Noh at Wentworth in the PGA last May, he seriously bombs it off the tee, just needs a decent short game and he would contend every week.

I'll file him with several million others then

Saw a long driving show a while back. The guy could hit it 400 yards ................... amazing power, but he said he was no where near pro standard as he couldn't get close to their short game standard

He is at the London Golf Club this weekend. Won the World Long Drive Championship with a 414yd drive. When he tried to hit it longer he broke his right toe and tore all the muscles in his right foot.

As per another thread, I was playing with this certain Long Drive Champion when I won my one and only longest drive in a club competition in 2000 - admittedly, he was only 15 or 16 at the time (and probably missed the fairway) but I must have still hit the ball longer than I do now (and benefitted from a change of wnd direction!)

When I left Bridgedown (now The Shire) in 2001, we were both playing off a seven handicap - but was well-known even at that age for being able to clear a water hazard with a carry of 300 yards. He hardly ever plays a full 18 holes now - just concentrates on eating (8,000 calories a day) and pumping weights to hit the ball even further and is also a fitness instructor.
