Saw a long driving show a while back. The guy could hit it 400 yards ................... amazing power, but he said he was no where near pro standard as he couldn't get close to their short game standard
He is at the London Golf Club this weekend. Won the World Long Drive Championship with a 414yd drive. When he tried to hit it longer he broke his right toe and tore all the muscles in his right foot.
As per another thread, I was playing with this certain Long Drive Champion when I won my one and only longest drive in a club competition in 2000 - admittedly, he was only 15 or 16 at the time (and probably missed the fairway) but I must have still hit the ball longer than I do now (and benefitted from a change of wnd direction!)
When I left Bridgedown (now The Shire) in 2001, we were both playing off a seven handicap - but was well-known even at that age for being able to clear a water hazard with a carry of 300 yards. He hardly ever plays a full 18 holes now - just concentrates on eating (8,000 calories a day) and pumping weights to hit the ball even further and is also a fitness instructor.
