Is the BetterFPL extension making Chrome crash?

Post by Mav3rick »

I *think* that the BetterFPL plugin is making my Chrome tabs crash out with Javascript going into somesort of loop. Is anyone else having the same issue? My PC has literally just finished installing the Windows 10 Creators Update, so it could be that that's caused the problem too.

:evil:

Mac here running Chrome. I'm having only the FPL page crash - all other tabs are fine. FPL page runns on Safari no problem.

Hadn't considered it might be the BetterFPL plugin.

Won't be able to check till wednesday on work PC.
Couldn't it be that it attempts to access GW39 fixtures?

Seems to crash most reliably for me when accessing the watchlist on the transfers page. If I disable the plugin, then everything is fine.

For me, it reliably crashes whenever I try to enter text into the player search box on the transfers page.

Seems like it's not handling the blankers and doublers. The bug messes up in case of DGW i suppose. Is there any other extension for chrome available?

I'm not aware of any that do the nice things that BetterFPL does :(

it did NOT crash in Chrome on my PC for BGW26 nor DGW27 tho
We already had blankers and doublers earlier in the season, no problems reported

I repeat, my strongest candidate for a bug, is that having to display traffic-lights for next FIVE fixtures, it attempts now to access GW39 data and forgot to write any IF in the code to avoid it

I can't check it till wednesday tho
I can say it didn't crash for me friday, with all the blankers and doublers already in place, it regularly displayed lights for the next 5 fixtures in FPL order from thr Fixtures tab in the player's info.
I also used the Transfers page, searched for players filtering by club or position, went in the List view too. Only I didn't check a Watch list

The only thing changed since, is that the deadline passed and now GW39 entered the 5-gws scope

I think you may be right MoSe. If I profile the page using Chrome then I see thousands of these error messages:

Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'difficulty' of undefined
at Object.addFixturesToListPlayer

Which is referring this method:

for (var i = 0; i < 5; i++) {
let fixture = player.fixtures
let fixtureElement = $('<li/>', {
class: 'diff-' + fixture.difficulty,
title: fixture.opponent_name + (fixture.is_home ? ' (H)' : ' (A)')
})

fixturesContainer.append(fixtureElement)
}

There's a for loop going over 5 iterations, but there's no concept of a maximum (i.e. 38).

Just downloaded it and tried it out, Chrome crashed 3 times and it's never done that before.

Removed it and no problems.

Can confirm it's crashing Chrome.

Just wanted to say that I've re-installed this extension at it's better than before (and doesn't crash Chrome).

One of the most useful features is a quick add/remove to/from the watchlist, which has always been a bit of a PITA. There's a few features I could live without (it has some sort of projected points thing which I don't like) but apart from that it's a good addition to the main FPL site IMO.

The developer is even taking feature requests on Reddit so if you have any ideas let him know :D
