The No Hits Club
How many FISOers are still yet to take a transfer hit this season?
I've now reached week 10 without taking one (which I'm sure is a record for me), I'm tempted to take one this week to sort out some value dropping issues though
I'm not averse to hits when they are warranted (so it's as much luck as it is judgement that I've not had to take one so far) but I'm also wondering how long I can manage without taking one.

Re: The No Hits Club
Taken 2, and 1 was this week.
Last season I had taken about 10 at this stage. It was my 1st proper season so was a learning path.

Re: The No Hits Club
No hits, but that's not a surprise - it would be an unusual season indeed for me to take one - although it's not unknown. As I commented in the aftermath of the Wildcard Strategy League at the end of last season, wildcard strategy aside, I did find it surprising the extent to which other managers used paid-for transfers. Of course, I try not to take the game too seriously these days, and many of you here would probably label me as a "casual", a view which my avoidance of paid-for transfers probably reinforces...

Re: The No Hits Club
Just noticed I haven't taken hits yet. I've been trying to avoid them after I saw it worked very well last season (climbed from +200k to top-3k in overall rank in the last ten rounds).

Re: The No Hits Club
Hit fee here too.
59k overall with 6 green arrows and 1 red arrow.
Slow and steady and all that!
Edit: I have, however, used my wildcard.

None yet, at 50k with a good TV. Happy.
(I will be even happier if Spurs keep a clean sheet today.)
In fact I would not mind all ten games finishing 0-0.
I could even miss MOTD and go to bed early tonight.)

18pts up on a 4pt hit last week. Being Hit free not always a good thing...

To be fair though, you're following a different tactic though aren't you with big team value?Weisenwolf wrote:Er, several, too embarrassed to give a figure

Re: The No Hits Club
Yes I am, but I'm going to have to rein it in pretty soon, otherwise I won't have time for the extra funds to claw back the points. The deadline is GW10 but if I can get away with no more hits for money reasons from now I will. It depends a fair bit on what Sterling & Costa do. Be nice to hit my deadline with a carry over.Mav3rick wrote:To be fair though, you're following a different tactic though aren't you with big team value?Weisenwolf wrote:Er, several, too embarrassed to give a figure
I'm not convinced it's a viable tactic but we shall see.

You've taken no hits? Your overall score must be garbage, or you're simply lying.

Re: The No Hits Club
Ville hasn't taken a hit yet and his current rank is in the top 2.5%.
I've taken 3 hits, in weeks 5,6,7, all of which paid off individually that game week, but I did have red arrows all three of those weeks. Nobody cares but I'm going to type this out for my own analysis.
GW5 - 4 point hit - Sold Courtois, Fletcher, Gray (they scored a total 6 points that week), bought Pickford, Antonio, (c) Lukaku. (total 34 points) - Net gain 24 points.
GW6 - 4 point hit - Sold Hazard, Redmond (total 5 points), bought KDB, Capoue (total 12 points) - Net gain 3 points.
GW7 - 4 point hit - Sold KDB, Lamela (total 1 point), bought Sanchez, Walcott (total 9 points) - Net gain 4 points.
Net gain every week, KDB was a failure but that's due to bad luck with the injury rather than poor judgement, but not to mention how much team value I've gained especially from Lukaku, Walcott and Sanchez.

Re: The No Hits Club
What's your league position? With the Aguero ban. Injuries to De Bruyne, Ibra, Hazard and Coutinho's up and down form, the emergence of Capoue and complete wastes of time like Mahrez, Vardy, Kane, I'm finding it very hard to believe people have avoided taking hits without suffering in league position places.Mav3rick wrote:Yes, those are the only logical explanationsZeroRemorse wrote:You've taken no hits? I'd argue the opposite - if you've not had to take hits it implies you have done well by luck or by judgement.ZeroRemorse wrote:What's your league position? With the Aguero ban. Re: The No Hits Club
Not a fan of these unless I know I can't field an 11 or I'm trying to make up points late in the season.
None so far (or wildcard) as I haven't had these problems yet. That said, I still have Luke Shaw, so make your mind up as to whether it's a good strategy or not.

Too many hits and with Walcott and Rashford flagged (and Antonio still in my team) will probably be more before the weekend.

Hit free and got a decent, if unspectacular score so far - although top of my work league. Have wildcarded though..
