If you had set and forgotten from GW1?

Post by raoul »

I just worked out where I would be now if I had left the starting GW1 set up in place. I did it manually - I guess there is a site that will do it for you and maybe even rank you, but if there is I do not know of it.

My actual current score is 1,524.

Set and forget would leave me on 1,533.

1426 but you would have to add in substitutions mainly for Mendy and Gray. However, my bench (Cairney, Ralls, Stephens) have also missed a lot so probably about 1460. Current point total 1586

far more reassuring game play than mine AR! (or, being optimistic, well done me for such a decent starting squad?)

My autosubs of AWB and Boly would have rewarded me handsomely given I needed defensive replacements virtually every week.

Set and forget team would have got 1403 with subs. The current team has 1606. So I've made some horrible picks to start off with but gone on to do pretty well to improve on my initial team

1360 versus actual 1460 (haven’t counted on subbed in players... but not worth the effort given they’d be Stekelenberg, Cedric, Romeu and Hudson-Odoi 😂)

My starting XI includes Guaita, Smalling and Jorginho too. So not a bad score for my 8 players.

1130 but that is calculated without any autosubs, dunno how much more that would add.

Currrently 1525.

Edit;

With Salah double points it is 1319

GW1:
Ederson
TAA Tarkowski Luiz Stones Robertson
Gylfi Salah (c) Barkley
Aguero Aubameyang

Aubameyang, Salah and Robertson is the only picks that stayed in the team the whole season.

Anywhere you can see how many points you’d be on?

How do you factor in auto subs etc. whilst calculating?

I think we are vying for the worst initial bench.

Or captaincy points for that matter. Lots of manual calculating I guess overall to determine this accurately.

I had a few duds in my GW1 starting 11. Niasse, Mee and Cairney (though Boly would have auto subbed in often). I got off to my best start in years, but doubt that early team would have elevated me to my OR 13000.

This will work it out for you with your GW1 captain but will not add autosubs.

1181 vs my current 1635.

Of my original squad only Robertson and Salah remain. Aguero and Jota went out and have since come back in.

That's partly because your GW1 team was far and away the best of those on this list (assuming people have done the calculation right). So that gives you plenty to work with, thinking how to do better next season.

Also got to take into account your bench which has all playing members. Many including myself went for one or two non-playing cheapos (knowing a WC was probably just round the corner), who will score zero when required as subs.

My team scored approx. 1320 including auto-subs, 300 short of where I am now.

You may also have a poor record of picking captains this season, like me, so Salah perma-captain would have worked out better. For me a Salah(c) every week and I'd be 10 points better off. Some people are a hundred captain points better than that.

My team:

Ryan / Steele (picked the wrong Brighton bench keeper  )
Azpilicueta, Davies, Bellerin / Jagielka, Tomkins
Salah, Cairney, Pedro, Jota / D Silva
Aguero, King, Rondon

Projection 1182

Current points total 1422

This will work it out for you with your GW1 captain but will not add autosubs.
interesting

GW1
Foster 102p
Ward 7p, Keane 84p, Steve Cook 70p, Tomkins 68p
Eriksen 107p, Mané (c) 280p [140 doubled], Mahrez 71p
King 99p, Agüero (v) 149p, Aubameyang 150p
Bench:
McCarthy 73p - Doherty 104p, Cairney 39p, Gudmundsson 67p

1187p / 1431p (1471-40p hits)

Ward(BUR) only played first 3 then got dropped, Doherty would have autosubbed from GW4 on bringing 102p
so 1289/1431, i'd stil lhave to manually check for the occasional other subs, and Kun VC when Mané dnp

I'd be on 1292, including set and forget captain Salah's points, but not including autosubs. Wan-Bissaka and Kamara on my bench though, so I think you could probably reasonably add another 30 or so points to that.

But then I'm on 1538 points now anyway, so good job I didn't!

Current 1545

Set and Forget inc Salah captaincy 1320 however my XI include Mendy, Tosun and Cairney with AWB & Doherty on the bench so not unreasonable to add a significant chunk of points to that I think for Auto sub

1047 Starting XI base Pts
+140p (C) = 1187
+6p (VC) = 1193
+145p autosubs = 1338

Pts from subs (used): 145p (42, 1.6 SpG) [ GK 0 (0), sub1 104p (24), sub2 19p (12), sub3 22p (6) ]
Pts definitively Left on Bench after autosubs: 138p (GK 73 +0+20+45)
ended to play 4 times with 10 men, and once with 9
FPL 18-19 GW1 dead team - MoSe gw26.png
Of course GW1 team was "optimally" (?) set for GW1 fixtures, not to "forget" it
Had we intentionally set and forgot it, we might have made different C/VC picks, and/or subs order, for the season

good point MoSe re GW1 not being a season-long plan (although I probably looked further into the season than I should have done).

Topics like this should be forbidden!

Current Score: 1517
SetAndForgetScore: 1589 hereof 176 from bench (Richarlison 102, WBA 67, Dale Stephens 7) and Salah(C).

The exercise confirms what I already knew. I have been terrible at managing especially my midfield. I don't know my average spend on mids but I am returning 4.8 per player, which I haven't seen worse compared to other profiles I've checked.

That I do well here is not a complete surprise as I unlike other picked team for the first 10GW'ish.

Turns out my opening day team was dreadful. Thankfully things have got better.

Current points: 1546

Set and forget: 1190, without taking autosubs into consideration, and assuming Aguero captained every week.
