Sané not in the squad, Sterling on the bench.

Re: Manchester City (inc KDB injury implications)
With this info it’s pretty safe to assume they both will start in the weekend. Although with this set up it’s of course possible that Sane has an injury that Pep just won’t publish yet. Genuinely I don’t think so.

Neither start, Sterling on bench. Looking good for Sterling captain and Sane vice.

Re: Manchester City (inc KDB injury implications)
I've just started an RMT thread with this as one of its key considerations but how are people feeling about Sane v Sterling v Aguero at this stage.
Sane must be sure of starts until Mendy's return next month. Aguero is well in form however. Sterling might be better than either?

Sané should be nailed until GW26/27 at least and that’s when City face Chelsea and have a blank. Mendy is not expected to be ready for action before February.

Re: Manchester City (inc KDB injury implications)
I have just Sane of the three and am very happy with that. Think they are all about equal to be honest, and he should get the most game time up to GW27 as people say.
I also have Ederson who has an annoying habit of conceding of late (especially just one goal!) after keeping so many CS's previously!

Re: Manchester City (inc KDB injury implications)
That's not necessarily so, Joccki, even assuming City beat Burton and reach the CC Final. It is just possible that the missing GW27 games could be brought forward and played in GW25. It may not be that likely - it would require that neither of the involved teams have a FAC4 replay and would also require the FA to move fast, something they don't often do - but it is possible. Managers with City and/or Everton assets could just get very lucky and the same goes for Spurs/Burnley or Chelsea/Brighton depending on who makes the Final there.Joccki_10 wrote: Sané should be nailed until GW26/27 at least and that’s when City face Chelsea and have a blank. Should Chelsea make it and get their GW27 PL game brought forward they would have an incredible GW25 DGW: HUD BHA. But I'd not put the chance of it happening above 10%.

Re: Manchester City (inc KDB injury implications)
What do we think about KDBs potential minutes for the next couple of games..? worth a punt (instead of Hazard) for New (A) & Hud (A)?

If you accept it is a punt, then it’s definitely worth it. Kid gloves or not, Pep is going to want KdB to be at his peak for the games next month...
If I was to guess:
30 mins v Hudd
Start and 60 mins v Burton
Start (75 mins) v Burnley
Huddersfield
Burton
Burnley
Newcastle
———————
Arsenal
Chelsea
Schalke

That looks like a pretty reasonable prediction for a player who came back too soon from a long lay-off.Zimmerman wrote: ↑16 Jan 2019, 13:24 If you accept it is a punt, then it’s definitely worth it. Kid gloves or not, Pep is going to want KdB to be at his peak for the games next month...

Which makes me think that he’ll just be back in form for the less attractive fixtures. £9.7M is a lot of money to risk for that

Thanks Zimmerman Finger hovering over the button, but back of my mind is thinking I am mad for going without any of Salah Hazard or Sterling in midfield

Re: Manchester City (inc KDB injury implications)
I’m no expert... do you need to be?
He’s started 6 games all season.
After missing 9 games, he’s since feature in 7 of City’s last 9 games:-
Everton - 15 min sub
Leicester (cup) - 71 min start
Palace - 28 min sub
Leicester - 70 min start
Southampton - 0
Liverpool - 0
Rotherham (cup) - 67 min start
Burton (cup) - 58 min start
Wolves - 28 min sub
Is he playing well? Hard to tell.
Starts in the games they won 7-0 and 9-0 make it tricky to judge.
As per above, sure the plan is to get him fully fit (and sharp) for February.

Okay, so Mendy is back. This definitely shades the prospects of Sane. A definite hold for now but it might not be a necessity to find space for him in case he’s not there yet. Even the looming DGW might easily end up being a SGW for both of them.

Interesting, that’s ahead of schedule if my memory serves me correctly.
It could nudge me towards Sterling rather than Sane if the DGW25 looks to be on.

Re: Manchester City (inc KDB injury implications)
He only started training last week.
It’s either to treat the Burton game like an easy training session... or just to get him back involved in the match day squad.
It’s over 10 weeks since Mendy last kicked a competitive ball.
I just don’t see him a) threatening the first team b) impacting the red hot Sane.
With a less fit and less marauding Mendy, Pep could opt for both in the same lineup and use Mendy in a more controlled (Delph) fashion.

Will be interested to see what (if any) involvement he has against Burnley on the weekend.
I can’t argue with Zimm’s call on Sane’s form.

Re: Manchester City (inc KDB injury implications)
Thinking about the mendy and sane situation
Mendy coming back into the city team will not cut sane game time
At the beginning of the season sane was very much out of form , competitive match minutes and general confidence
Managers with sane shouldn’t be concerned with the return of mendy
Sane unfortunately is like any other city assets in fpl
All are at risk of rotation

Re: Manchester City (inc KDB injury implications)
I currently have Sane and Sterling in my team and im thinking of bringing Mendy in alongside them both.
Sane has been Man City best player recently and no way he makes way.
I think its a positive for Sterling as well with Mendy back has he puts some many crosses in and that suits Sterling with him arriving late at the back post.
Im Sure it benefit Aguero/Jesus as well, but i dont have them so dont care

Anyone considering Mendy should probably hang fire... (Pep says he has some swelling in the knee, hence why he wasn't in squad yesterday)...

Re: Manchester City (inc KDB injury implications)
All right, so let's start discussing which City players are most likely to start both matches in DGW25.
Defenders: probably just Laporte and Ederson are likely enough so start both? Stones, Walker and Danilo may easily be benched for one match? What is the status of Mendy? I think the fact that he wasn't in the squad yesterday tells he isn't ready to start anytime soon, not to mention starting both matches in DGW25, right?
Midfielders: I think anyone can be rested for one match in DGW25. Personally I'm particularly interested in David Silva though, is he likely to start both matches?
Forwards: Surely it's very possible (perhaps even likely) that Aguero starts against Arsenal and then gets a rest against Everton so that he is fresh against Chelsea?

The loss should mean Pep cannot be too brave.
I’m thinking Walker is probably safe for both fixtures too.
Ederson
Laporte
Walker
Fernandinho
D Silva
Sane
Sterling
Start both games
Aguero id be fairly sure too (I’m probably doing Aubameyang to Aguero, so I hope so)!

I think from the midfield De Bruyne is more nailed than Sane. Sane has threat from Mahrez and had played a lot recently- whereas I feel De Bruyne has been given more and more game time recently since his injury to get up to peak for UCL/ARS/CHE so I expect that to continue.

But has also looked off the pace and not quite his efficient/effective self. He could well play both (I wouldn’t personally gamble on it).
Started 5/6 (all comps) playing a total 371 mins.

I'd rather have David Silva than KDB if they both played same minutes. He is cheaper and I actually expect him to score more points per minutes. But the question is which one of them is likely to play more minutes in DGW25?
