I'm surprised to hear they're not in the bottom three for xG actually. Which teams are worse? Huddersfield obviously, Newcastle maybe? Burnley?

Yeah, it surprised me too.

Huddersfield 4.75 xG (4 actual goals)
Newcastle 5.98 xG (6)
Crystal Palace 7.02 xG (5)
Cardiff 7.44 xG (4)
Burnley 7.69 xG (10)

The there's a biggish gap to West Ham, Leicester, Fulham, Everton and Brighton, who all fall between 8.73 and 9.52 xG. This is using Understats data, there may be other models that rate them differently.

Palace, of course! Any team that regularly starts Benteke must have an expected goals figure in the negative.

My thoughts exactly: but I thought they looked OK to good at Wembley and were unlucky to lose to Spurs.

I still wouldn't tough them with your barge pole though

Keep up: he has been injured for the last 4

0 goals at home is going some though - there must be a record for "how many matches before scoring at home"?

Is that relevant? He regularly starts when fit is what I meant.

Ah, with you. Maybe JAyew was meant to be a shiny new CF?

I'd toss Townsend into that pot of non-scoring attackers too.

dino1980 wrote: 19 Oct 2018, 01:41 Bump! I think Josh Murphy (4.8m) is seriously flying under the rader. 0.3 xG p90 + 0.11 xA p90 is excellent for the price, and comparable to Brooks (5m 0.30 + 0.16). Cardiff's fixtures from now until GW31 are really good, with only four games against last seasons top six. I can't say he's more nailed than Brooks, who has Stanislas to cotend with, but Josh Murphy looks like being Cardiff's talisman on the evidence on the last two games. He's my wildcard punt.
Great shout - he passed the eye test vs Burnley and Spurs for me. Looks hungrier and more capable than almost all of his teammates, also have a bit of selfishness to him which is always a good sign for FPL. Brought him in for Hudson-Odoi (long story) this week, and will probably play him 3 of next 4 games. Has to pull a Ralls to disappoint at that price!

Do any of our Brighton observers have a view on job security for Kayal??

On WC, and looking for candidates for my 3rd bench spot (which, coincidentally, is currently occupied by Stephens).

Why would you swap Stephens for Kayal? Stephens is the same price and much more secure. Pröpper is currently out with an ankle injury, he almost certainly takes Kayal's place once he's fit again.

Ok, thanks. Just WC tinkering. JS is most important for me for that spot. A (much) lesser consideration is the prospect of losing another
0.1 on Stephens (I have a harebrained idea about moving to a 4.5m forward in that spot in a few weeks time, and I would curse if that 0.1 blocked me from getting KdB, say).

If you are seriously asking about starting a mid for that much, then downgrade a Fwd to Jimenez\Ings and get a good one for 6m+, there are loads of them....

I've gone Kayal (BRI) for 4.4 and as long as he's playing I'm happy to have him on the bench for that price with Wan Bissaka. Seems to have made his way into the starting 11 and has 14 points from his last 3 starts... bit of a differential too and frees funds

Deulofeu is back ? A bit punty, but that's what you are going to get in that price range

I guess he might play even OOP this gameweek?

But how likely is he to retain his place in starting lineup beyond this gameweek?

Kenedy and Pritchard other punty options . Their teams are struggling but they are good advanced players and fixtures are nice .

Deulofeu looked good based on MoTD highlights, for me he seems underpriced at just 5.4. Considering bringing him in for Hughes maybe🤔

Who is looking the best budget midfielder at the moment, quite a few standing out:

Paterson
J Murphy
Kenedy
Snodgrass
Deulofeu

Deulofeu is the best player I think but West Ham have some outstanding fixtures and with the injuries they have Snodgrass looks sure to play. Proven track record of pushing 150 points when he gets the minutes, is 5.3m a potential bargain? Think he might be worth it.

I would go snodgrass . On some corners and presumably free kicks too

Snodgrass is on four yellow cards. One more and he is suspended.

Brady (5.4) is back after 9 months, played good despite being rusty. Burnley's set-piece taker. Their next 5 out of 6 fixtures are favorable. Ownership 0.0%.

If you have Arnie already would you still take a punt on Snoddy over Deulofeu?

There's also Fernandinho at 5.4, which I don't think is a bad option.

Yeah, I don't have any so that's probably where our thinking is differing!
