GW7 Captain
Just realised we don't have the poll yet so here it is. Agüero(c) for me; I was seriously contemplating Lukaku but the latest episode from the United soap opera has put me right off that idea.

Aguero has armband pending any alarm bells from Pep's press conference. Kane the vice/alternative.

Aguero at the moment, but Hazard is on fire and could score big points against even Liverpool.

Re: GW7 Captain
I’m going for Kane this week as I’m worried Aguero will only get 58minutes or less.
I think if ever there was a time to start Jesus over Aguero it is this week, with weak opposition at home and UCL and Liverpool next week.

I think he will start
Trouble with your 58 minute argument is that Aguero tends to have the damage done by then

Aguero (C)
Lacazette (VC)
Would undoubtedly captain Kane though, if I had him.

The bookies say Aguero is more likely to score anytime than Kane (slightly). They will likely both score well but I would much rather have Aguero than Kane for sure

Re: GW7 Captain
Just a feeling. Starting to show signs of life, and it seems to be the kind of away game he typically does well in. Has to spring to life eventually. Would love to have him in my squad for this run of games, but unfortunately no space as long as Aguero is fit and firing.

Phew, I was fearing some sort of rational argument, then I would have to type that Hudds aren;t as bad as people think and Spurs look wrong....Notned wrote: ↑27 Sep 2018, 21:11Just a feeling. I decided to vote for Aguero. If it was a real football team my best captain (out of the ones on the list) would be Harry Kane.

Re: GW7 Captain
I have both, so no bias either way.
Random thoughts...
Aguero will almost certainly not play 90 minutes with two big games next week (UCL and Liverpool).
Eriksen is out, so reduces BP competition from 5 to 4.
Aguero is on fire, with 5.2 shots/game v's Kane's 2.8
Aguero leads SiB/game with 3.7 to Kane's 2.8
But Kane get more big chances per game 1.0 to Aguero's 0.5
Basically Ageuero gets loads of chances in a game and even in 60 minutes he get more shots than anyone else in Prem even compared to them playing for full 90.
However, Kane gets better quality chances. Still. It's just that so far Kane has only converted 20% of his big chances. He's been wasteful.
I think this weekend Aguero has a higher floor and Kane has a higher ceiling, I just feel that as soon as City kill the game Aguero will come off to protect him for next week.
I think if Aguero outperforms the gap between the two will be limited to 5pts. Whereas Kane may well get a hattrick.
There's not much in it to be honest. But I'm still favouring Kane tonight.

(K)un, Salah (vc) for sure here.
Even if I owned Kane I'm pretty sure I'd still captain Aguero.

Re: GW7 Captain
I think he meant "lower ceiling", but I agree it reads confusingly as, I too, like you, know the difference between a floor and a ceiling.From4corners wrote: ↑27 Sep 2018, 23:48 I know the difference between a floor and ceiling, yet can't seem to comprehend it in this context. Care to explain, pretty please?
Edit: Actually, on reading it back, I think the "lower floor" he talks about is the lowest likely score for Agüero this week, as in: Agüero is less likely than Kane to blank but perhaps also less likely to haul due to probable reduced minutes, whereas with Kane it's more a case of "all or nothing", 13 points or 2 points, that kind of thing.

I think Aguero will get 6 or 7. I think he would get subbed before getting 12+ pts.
I think Kane is likely to get 3-5 but has a chance of getting 20, he won't be getting subbed and has very little competition for BP.
If Kane scores he will probably get the +3BP, whereas I can't see Aguero getting any more than 1BP and even that I can't really see.
Basically I think Aguero will score and then be subbed off and get 6pts, Aguero has 2x must win fixtures next week and was out injured just last week.
Kane doesn't have this cap and will only be encouraged to press for more and more.
So Aguero has a higher floor + lower ceiling [6-7 ish], Kane has a lower floor and a higher ceiling [3-20].

Re: GW7 Captain
I think you are overdoing this. Aren't you the guy that said that micro-managing fixtures doesn't work?Stu255 wrote:Basically I think Aguero will score and then be subbed off and get 6pts, Aguero has 2x must win fixtures next week and was out injured just last week. Agüero's ankle knock happened 2 weeks ago. He was already back in training 3 days later and played 30 minutes against Lyon last midweek. He started last weekend, playing 60, and was rested this midweek with Jesus playing 90. So he has hardly been overloaded with minutes recently. The idea that he couldn't play 75 or 90 this weekend and be ready to start against Hoffenheim is silly, really, and there are 5 days after that before Liverpool.
I'm not saying that I know how long Agüero will get this weekend but don't see that 60 minutes and 1 goal is a cap of any kind.
I'd consider Kane if I had him, he's not a bad bet. But probably would captain Agüero anyway in home game against a team that doesn't tend to travel well. Kane's and Spurs' form hasn't been great, Eriksen is out and although Kane seemed to get better in the last 30 minutes last weekend, I'd want to see more than that before backing him.
