GW 5 : Who to captain? Vote inside.

Post by germainelefoe »

Tough decision this week with many potential large hauls. Aguero, Hazard, Aubameyang and Salah will all be popular choices and could all return double digits. Alonso and Mendy both look like potential clean sheets this week as well as the possible attacking points and are good "roll the dice" choices. Low owned (in comparison) players such as Lukaku and Lacazette are other possibilities.

It seems like the active manager community will be quite split this week on captaincy so a good decision could really push up the ranks with a large green arrow.

Aguero for me also, I thought it would be close between Aguero and Hazard for those who own both (I do not). Maybe it's just slam dunk Aguero captain but I am considering taking hits to get Hazard in as imo he could go wild at home to Cardiff.

I think it's just Aguero (C) Hazard (VC) for me but could switch them around.

Anybody looking to TC Aguero? Is it more of a risk right after the International break?

Initially thought Aguero but i'm now on Hazard. The extra point for a CS and a goal and the greater likelihood of bonus are a factor but the main one is not worrying about game time. There's always a risk with Pep roulette and there's also the worry that Kun could get hauled off at 59 minutes if City get an early lead.

Bookies favour Aguero quite heavily over Hazard, they tend to be right.

Alonso, played very minute of Chelseas first 4 games for super consistent returns of 11, 13, 11, 9, highest FPL scorer in the game by some distance and at home to Cardiff, with only 5% captaincy....????? am I missing something here?

for the record

Alonso (C), Hazard (VC)

Alonso has been performing very well, he’s also been very fortunate. Those kind of points aren’t sustainable, if they were he’d end the season on 400pts.

They said Leicester winning streak wasn't sustainable...

seriously though, I don't expect him to get 10 points every game, but he's at home to Cardiff :!:

I'm expecting at least a clean sheet and given his form and Chelsea's form think he is probably the "safer" pick than Augero who has had the one 20pt week but a couple of 2 pointers as well.

just surprised hardly anyone is captaining him when I'm sure most of those on here will have him in their team

Agüero (C)
Hazard (VC)

Does anyone know whether Kun was away on international duty? I cannot find anything about it. It would be my only worry, if he had to travel long distance.

Argentina played Guatemala on Saturday in LA but he wasn’t in the match day squad. They play Colombia tonight in NJ but not sure if he’s there for it.

Article says he’s been omitted from the squad.

I reckon he will have gone home though with a week and a bit off. Gone to see his family.

Thank you.

Since Jesus was dropped from the Brazil squad, both strikers would have had a rest. Therefore the rotation risk remains. :(

Argentina is starting a new process, getting rid of their +30 y.o. toxic players, so he won't be called any time soon (at least until Messi returns).
Back to the topic, it's a tough call between Aguero and Alonso, Fulham has conceded 9 goals in 4 games and Aguero is fresh and healthy (It won't last long I guess) so I expect a couple of goals from him.
If that's not the case, having Alonso as captain could be a good diferential, Cardiff at home are almost 12 points on the bag, plus the the chance to increase those points with some assist/goal/bonus.
Some food for thoughts I guess...

My caption choice for this week is Aguero (C), Mendy (V). But ... any chances Aguero will be rested completely for the Champions League game with Olympique Lyonnais the week following (20/9)?

Feeling a bit pressured to captain Hazard as I've read there's little value in owning high priced players without captaincy. That and his form is red hot.

Hazard(c) Aguero(vc) at the moment.
