Chalobah started in CM for Watford last night and played 89 minutes.

Is he likely to take a starting place? That of capoue perhaps?

Or Deeney\Gray?

He's one for the blah radar, having picked up Guen last night.

I'm not sure tbh. Capoue has done alright so far and with Watford winning 3 in 3 I'm not sure the manager will be quick to change it, just food for thought atm really.

Good points from both of you. One to watch anyway as he has the best attacking potential of all the 4.5s if he gets a starting spot

Haven't seen any mention of Danny Ward playing OOP as a CF for cardiff against arsenal and scoring

I heard about him in preseason and it sounded too good to be true and it was in relation to his minutes. An injury or 2 at cardiff and he becomes a very interesting player though up front while being classed as a mid at 4.5!

Their fixture run is pretty tragic atm but as I've wildcarded and tinkering he's in my team atm

Billing got a goal from a set piece, (so it is potentially repeatable if he goes up for them regularly due to his height), and seems stable in the side too. Ward is an interesting option for sure, playing more attacking than Billing but will probably play less. I guess this throws up the idea of what are we using the 4.5M midfielder for, is it just to get the guaranteed 2 points when you need them after your main 11 surprisingly doesn't play, (which Billing will be best at), or is it for the hope of a 6 or 7 pointer with the possibility of them getting you 0 or 1 point when they sub in due to not always starting matches, (which Ward will be best at).

Hmmm... :D

Chabolah back on the bench for Waford at the weekend too - could be the pick if he gets into the team.

If wildcarding now I'd go with Billing, but am stuck with Stephens for now, who, despite doing all that was asked of a 4.5m initial pick (by starting!), will drop in price sooner or later.

The problem with the 'guaranteed to start' 4.5M defensive mids, is that inevitably they will be at price-drop risk early on when the odd 4.5M midfielder scores well and the masses latch on to those players.

Yep, the problem is that if you pick a risky 4.5m mid/attacker that 'might' start, and then doesn't, you're very likely facing the same price change fate. And it's extremely rare for there to be a 4.5m attacker who looks assured of a place and is not just a defensive mid. Capoue a couple of seasons ago was the dream - get lucky and you can rake in a few 0.1m's.

The best strategy is definitely not just to pick a 4.5m mid/attacker that won't play though! For example, most of the 4.5m mids who haven't started have already dropped in value, yet none of those who have regularly started have dropped.

Any thoughts on hojbjerg? Seems to be doing well and is only 4.4 (should protect against a price fall at the very least!).

Romeu played the first two games (and JWP the second), with Hojbjerg missing out. Looks a bit unsettled?

Seri is by far the best FPL player in this bracket.

Every week he makes 60-80 passes with 90% accuracy so he regularly gets 20-25 bps without a goal or an assist.

I also added Milner this week (who is just outside this bracket).

I like the look of Seri but I don't like the look of Fulham's next few fixtures, Neves is cheaper and Wolves fixtures start to get a bit better now. I was looking at replacing Zaha with Mitrovic but was put off for the same reason.

Really this is 2 categories - 4.5 for the “8th attacker” or 5-5.5 for a budget 7th attacker.

Indeed would be interesting to hear people’s views on the best rotating pair in this bracket.

The problem with Seri is that for just 0.5M more you can have Schurrle who is a much better prospect. However is Seri a 5th mid and Schurrle a 4th mid and am I comparing like-with-like here, that is something I am not sure on? Maybe Schurrle's price just crosses over into a different category of player who you can't use as a 5th mid etc.

have been almost there several times but don't have anyone in this price bracket at present - expect to get one or possibly two in over the next couple of weeks, stand outs for me are Billing, Milner, Hughs and Kante...

You mean for you to select (as you can't get a 5.5 like Knockaert, who'd be my pick of the bunch)?
If so, I'd pick Hughes.

Yup... Thinking of bringing in Kane... Which means having a less than 5.3 mid instead of wallcott

Kennedy at Newcastle worth considering too now their fixtures are turning. Only 4.9.

Ings plus one from here or a defender - I'm not sure this price bracket works as a playing\rotating mid with the likes of Maddison, Rich, Schurrle not much more expensive and Laporte, TAA and Gomez similarly priced.

That typed, maybe I should keep an eye out for an emerging FPL God a la Milipenalotov.

Hmm, that woeful penalty miss and at least a half without completing a pass, or similar is etched on my only brain cell.

Cairney is back for Fulham now and is 4.8m. If I can stretch to that amount on GW9 wildcard I plan to have him as the fifth mid.

Bump! I think Josh Murphy (4.8m) is seriously flying under the rader. 0.3 xG p90 + 0.11 xA p90 is excellent for the price, and comparable to Brooks (5m 0.30 + 0.16). Cardiff's fixtures from now until GW31 are really good, with only four games against last seasons top six. I can't say he's more nailed than Brooks, who has Stanislas to cotend with, but Josh Murphy looks like being Cardiff's talisman on the evidence on the last two games. He's my wildcard punt.

Ha. I hear ya. Cardiff are bad, but not the worst. They aren’t in the bottom three for xGA or xG.
