Only two thereof played WC2, Bulgarche who maintained his 100+ score entering top 1k, and FFBA who instead crashed out with mere 43p
for the records, you can check Bulgarche GW1 team:
had he not played WC, he'd have got 60/65p in GW2 (depending whether Bertrand or Mitrovic had made his final XI after autosubs)
of course not considering how he'd have used his FT and eventual hits

his WC has gained him about 40p
true, he might have wanted Aguero in any case, and he'd have had to take (at least) one hit to fund the 4m upgrade from Rashford (say Salah to 9m mid, or Sanchez to Richarlison)
in such case his team with Rashford+Sanchez  Aguero+Richarlison-4p would have yielded a comparable score to the one he got with WC
but he wouldn't have had his team equipped with Trippier Mendy BSilva Kane Lukaku for next fixtures, to just name the most relevant changes

As I posted earlier, almost 6% of Fiso Leaguers played WC in GW2 anyway
you might disagree it's the best moment to play it in general, but of course it depends on each one's team

Regardless it was the right time for him to play it (his overahul seems to have set up a pretty better team than in GW1, well poised for upcoming weeks)
or he might have benefited waiting a few GWs yet ( :?: ),
he looks to be one of those who used it better in Fiso and got the most points out of it on the GW (double than SportBilly for instance, sorry SB)
(alas don't have the complete final GW data as https://ratemyteam.uk/Fiso/SideGameData/14226/2 is not working again... :( maybe tomorrow)

So, whether it was good or bad strategy is nothing more than one's opinion, and it certainly wasn't bad play as he looks to have managed it optimally as a start
To be verified in next GWs how much he'll suffer for having chosen to ditch Salah & Mané in the trade

Ha - what a weird coincidence. Great spot/deduction. :D

So 94% of FISOers didn't bother with the GW2 WC, so I doubt most agree it was a good move.

Even if it was a good move for his specific team, then that just means he has made poor choices to require an early WC in that way anyhow. Then some might say it was because he boosted his bench in GW1, in which case was it really worth gaining an SGW BB whilst forcing him to waste his WC early on in the process?

That last minute Mane goal was very kind to me to ensure I stayed at #1. Bulgarche would have stayed there had it not been for that goal.

Going with no Liverpool players is a big risk. I had initially tripled up on Liverpool and City but have subsequently changed Bilva for Mkhi.

I don’t expect to stay at #1 although I did finish in top 1k in 2014/15 but other times I have been happy with too 100k.

8th in FPL probably bigger achievement though due to number of players!
I was once 1st in TFF too.

Well played Bulgarche Image Hope you enjoyed it - no point playing if you don't celebrate the highs. Mind you, you'd only have been 9th if I bothered with this inferior game Image

Thanks razorblade for posting!
(I know you didn't it "for me" ;) but I'm happy that the Forum League #1 comes posting in the forum, and lets us know WHO he is :D)
I hadn't you in my "Fiso who's who" directory yet, probably because it's only your 10th post ;)

______

out of (personal) curiosity,
when trying to track your team in Fiso, I had found a nickoldale member, who registered in Aug 2013, never posted and last logged in Oct 2014. Then a nicko member, who registered in Aug 2014, never posted and last logged in Aug 2016.
Then you who registered two years ago, and I'm happy that you also started posting two weeks ago, as I had noticed your Oldale's Army in the top pages of the Forum League in past season too (last one you ended in Fiso top 200), and I always wondered who was its manager :D

wish you all the best in FPL as to other top Fisoers as well, and hope you keep on representing our Forum League at the top in FPL the whole season long

Where do you normally place? Overall, weekly etc?

Is this unprecedented for you, or something you aimed for for a while?

I've played for many years, some more successfully than others but always in and around the top 100k (the 1st year being the exception). As you can see from below my standout year was 2014/15.

Season Points Overall rank
2006/07 1,620 391,538
2007/08 2,131 36,052
2008/09 1,939 59,503
2009/10 2,330 11,636
2010/11 2,039 44,257
2011/12 2,158 14,137
2012/13 2,060 112,342
2013/14 2,308 70,995
2014/15 2,308 627
2015/16 2,136 132,825
2016/17 2,178 92,619
2017/18 2,248 50,946

I have already played my bench boost which will have helped my start (given I had Wan-Bissaka) but as the season goes on I tend to have low value players on the bench to save funds and so I don't always manage to field a full 15.

I usually end up wildcarding very early as my early season punts rarely pay off. They seem to have all happened in the same year so far so looking forward to keeping hold of it longer than normal!

Interesting, more consistent than me that's for sure.

I'm assuming no one on this game can consistently be top 10k, I may be wrong though.

Fiso most consistent viewtopic.php?p=3060405#p3060405
online sheet FISO Consistency 2017
up to 16/17 we had found
16 tracked Fisoers who got in top 10k in 3 out of 4 last seasons
5 who got in top 10k in 4 out of 5 last seasons
other 5 who got in top 10k in 5 out of 7 last seasons

Top Achievers (all-time since 06/07 until 16/17)
post in old STC topic viewtopic.php?p=3059480#p3059480
online sheet https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... CVisHLrtX4 (check tabs at the bottom)
Didn't do the tallies (and I won't add them now from mobile)
But you can see
atx1303, Sarky, Sutter Kane, SpartaBhoy got 7 top 10k finishes in 11 seasons
El Tel of Ealing 7/11 as well but in Top 2k (!)
tenpinterry 5/11 in Top 1k (!!!) as did pascalevans who adds a 6th in Top 5k
Several with 6/11
Kingcurtley down at row 118 did better with 8/11
(BTW razorblade is at row 158 but I didn't know his Fiso name yet)
theplayer 6/10
hancockjr 6/9 in Top 5k
Stemania 6/8 although none inside top 1k
and so on...

If you check also FFS HoF
https://members.fantasyfootballscout.co ... me/career/
you find there Jay Egersdorff at its top has 10/12,
Grant Barclay 7/8, Ville Ronka 9/10, our Ardrageen in 19th with 5/8, and many others

Well done Bulgarche! Keep up the good work.
Because the pleasure and joy is unreasonable given the circumstances. They are literally kidding themselves, and it's kinder to not let them get carried away surely? He's 8th place with poor strategy, (two chips used already), so he shouldn't be celebrating that.

It's a bit like in poker if someone get's all the money in with 44 pre-flop against a tight player's AA; and they suck out by hitting a 4 and then start celebrating. There is no reason to celebrate when it is poor play. That is all this guy has done, he's played poorly FPL-wise and after two weeks has sucked out on us.

So let's have some realism come into this thread why don't we. I'm actually helping them out whereas you're literally saying 'Well done' for bad play. That is not helpful to them.
The dude has been playing for over a decade. Let him enjoy his moment.

Having played a similar amount, I've seen some top season end OR's having played chips early. It's not poor play. Who's to say he can't do the same and tinker along until the second wc? Many a bb in a dgw don't work out.

Kudos Bulgarche!

So, you took the effort to average bulgarche's finishing position over10 seasons (!)
But not to check on that same page that his current position is actually 278
Just sayin'...

You gifted us with your first post in 2018 for that enlightening comment, your 27th in 4700 days since you registered (4699 actually), making it 1 post every 174 days, on average.
Curiosly, you only ever posted in August, over those 13 seasons (although not every season)
I'll welcome September coming in a week.

I know his current position isn't 8th, I've read the whole thread, sorry for the inaccuracy, it just made for a funnier comparison.

Also made me think about my own average, which I hadn't ever checked before - 84,000th over 12 seasons. Not boasting, not much to boast about really, just sayin'.

And I have no idea what you're talking about - an average of two posts a year over 13 years seems like loads to me.

Here I'll explain for you, he's pointing out that you give up posting in september - implying that your rank probably falls below what your ego can take and thus, you "try" again next year.

Your post has gained you one admission to the bitter players club however, so congrats on that.

He may have been implying that, but I don't think so.

As it happens my general modus operandum is to have an utterly horrific start to the season, steadily get better and finish strongly. If I could actually have a half-decent start to a season I might be dangerous.

You are of course free to disagree, but I'm definitely not bitter - I was just poking a bit of fun at the OP, I meant no malice towards him. So apologies to the OP if it came across like that.

I apologise yakflange for having lashed out my sarcasm,
having misinterpreted the meaning and purpose of your post

as a partial exucsation, LBE too read your post as a bitter one, as we had a couple posters from that club here already

I thought you meant
"Look, that guy makes a big fuss about being top 10, but he actually sucks, going by his 10 seasons record"

I didn't consider you could also be meaning
"you sucked for 10 seasons, what a big moment you're finally having now for once", but the "just sayin'" comment didn't exactly convey that, to me :?

Or:
"wow, you sucked for 10 seasons, how did you manage to pull such great start this one? :P "
:?:

So apologies to the OP if it came across like that.
with my first comment I intended:
if you took the effort to berate Bulgarche by remembering his bad 10 season record, you might at least have done it properly.
My nitpick about his actual current position intended to convey sarcasm, not actual nitpicking. That was before you clarified you didn't intend to berate Bulgarche.

with my second comment I intended:
if your single post for this season is a bitter one, luckily September will soon spare us from further ones on the same line.
Contrary to what LBE assumed, I never use someone results, achievements, performances, to judge the validity of one's opinion.
Now that you clarified I had jumped at the wrong conclusions, I take back that comment.

Bulgarche - was it always the plan to WC in GW2?

If not, what made you pull the trigger.

I’m also intrigued why you started with Alonso in your GW1 squad but benched him?

He used his bench boost in GW1, so it didn't really matter whether Alonso was on the pitch or not...
