Re: 2018 McDonalds FIFA World Cup Fantasy
This pretty much mirrors the FPL game in terms of scoring and the idea of chips.
I seem to recall the M Donals game having all sorts of platform issues in the past. It’s still not up
And running. Note Wed launch date.

Re: 2018 McDonalds FIFA World Cup Fantasy
Thanks Geoff, I had searched for a thread yesterday in the Football talk and International forums, couldn't find one. This is the forum where it's supposed to be.
I also tried to open the above page from desktop PC, it just showed the fifa frame and titles, but the blue background remained empty, no content.
Even now from mobile, it keeps "Loading..."
*EDIT: here, it just needed 15 minutes, while I was tapping this post
There were indeed several issues last time in 2014.
I couldn't tell the difference with FPL at the time, as I only came to FPL after that
About the rules and scoring, my friends who were playing FPL told me for instance that if you get subbed off then your team concedes, you don't lose your CS in fpl but you still lost it in fifa. (*it's fpl-like now)
I remember you got penalised for a penalty-causing foul. (*and I see now you still are, as you still get only 2p for earning it instead of an assist 3p).
You got 1p for playing up to 30', 2p up to 60' and 3p more than 60'. This has been dropped and it's fpl-like too.
And there were several items which were individually rewarded with points, like "runs in the box", "passes completed %", "clearances and blocks", which instead only concur to BPS in FPL. There is neither, now.
Instead of short Gameweeeks playing over 2 or 3 days, in the group phase you only have 3 Rounds for gameweek, with each round spanning several matchdays (5 or 6; 4 for 3rd round) before all teams play in that round.
This led fifa allowing managers to manually change the Captain and the fielded XI, with someone who's yet to play in the round. Something you can't do in fpl, but we did in euro2016. And that significantly influences your XV team selection too (e.g., if Iran play early in the round, it's worth to pick them as cheap fodder, less so if they play in last match day in the round)
So, in summary, there were a few rules and scoring differences anyway.
Scoring has indeed become much simpler and mostly reflects fpl now.
No chip was there in 2014 tho.
WC got introduced in Euro2016.
The other two "Boosters" are a novelty for Fifa/UEFA.
BB is just like FPL
MaxCaptain automatically makes your highest scorer Captain. a few Fisoers had proposed it in one of the many chips moaning threads
It does NOT say you can't play multiple chips on the same round/phase tho. We'll see whether the interface will allow it.

Cheers Mose thats really helpful - happy to give it a go - think a lot of my fellow FPL league players want to play this rather than TFF or SDT. Interested if we want a League on here?

Yeah, I didn't any research on the wc squads yet, for now I just registered an autosetup team.
Btw the site it's still work in progress, it still begins with Round 3...
But I'd sure join a Fiso League if there's one

Re: 2018 McDonalds FIFA World Cup Fantasy
This is easily better than TFF and DT. I'm defiantly up for joining a FISO league
I would be very intrested in joining anyone's cash league for FIFA too. Never seem to find many for the FIFA games even on FISO. Surprising really as it the nearest one to FPL. Please let me know if anyone is running one

Your team is displayed on pitch in the direction of play, i.e. with gk at the bottom (like BBC line up pics)

Actually to be fair I got an email from FIFA or their marketing partner announcing that launch date would be "D Day" 6th June - today. Wasn't expecting them to keep to timetable though.

Re: 2018 McDonalds FIFA World Cup Fantasy
Interesting how different our subjective views of different games are. I subscribe to hayesag's view. The McDonald's game seems to me to be full of bells and whistles which don't add much to the essentials of fantasy football. Also considering that the game is aimed at a world-wide audience, the prizes, bar the first prize, are rubbish. DT wins this World Cup's best fantasy game award by a mile. Simple structure in which skill is important as it can be in any fantasy game, (luck always being a key factor), interactivity is good but not OTT, and decent prizes for the top 10 teams. TFF also has a good basic structure but is far too interactive and favours the large multis who enter hundreds of teams covering all block defences etc. The problem is that whereas in the TFF seasonal, other managers have time to reel in runaway leaders, here the time for doing so may be too limited.

To me the only good thing the DT has over Fifa is no goddam chips. Man do I hate the chips .Striker wrote: ↑06 Jun 2018, 17:20

DT doesn't compare to the format of FIFA ( or FPL). I hate the fact you get 10 teams to throw at it. Should be one team only and having a deadline before the WC starts would help . Block defences I don't like either. Prefer limiting players to how many they can have from one team at a time
Always found that FISO is predominantly DT whilst other sites don't touch it. FFS for example is purely FIFA ( and FPL). Not sure why that is
