Chasing Starting XI Glory

Post by wizardoffire »

Eddie Elbows wrote: I was involved in the dust up for the starting XI prize a couple of years ago eventually finishing second or possible third. Why don't you tell us what your team is? It's possible that some FISOers will know the players you're up against so we can all enjoy the thrill of the chase.
As per Eddies proposal and the run into the business end of the season, I shall be updating this topic as the points roll in.

As of right now the team "Nova Scotia" is residing in 8th place with a score of 1443. The less said about its overall position, I rather neglected my teams before Christmas so could have been a lot higher up overall

Anyways down to business the Starting XI for this team in a 451 is as follows

De Gea

Valencia
Bertrand
PVA
Cook

Hazard
Eriksen
Mane
Barkley
Sanchez

Aguero

Somewhat disappointing that Mane is now out for the season so effectively playing with 10 and probably 9 unless PVA is back shortly. A lot of work to do being 40 points behind the lead but 3 points off 4th and just 20 points from climbing into 3rd and a money spot.

Lets see how my luck pans out

not making transfers during October/November/December

had the intention of swapping Aguero to Lukaku after he got suspended, never did, of course Lukaku then gets a hat trick

Can anyone be bothered to work out the perfect starting XI?

I know it's exceptionally unlikely anyone will get the 100K for it, but there are no Mahrez or Vardy types that would be impossible to pick.

Sanchez, Ali, Erikson, Hazard, Cahill and Lukaku will definitely be in.

Gibson and Keane are probably there based on points per million.

I suppose Son will be there or thereabouts after today, he would be a tough one to pick out.

I've had a quick look, here's my offering ... happy for it to be improved upon, £49.9m and total points of 1,759 .... as you say, the problem is the top scorers are all the most expensive players, no cheapies around to help out. (I'm sure this can be bettered :) )

Heaton BUR 2.7 95

Alonso CHE 3.8 147
Azpilicueta CHE 4.3 147
Cahill CHE 4.1 146
Keane BUR 3.0 120

Sanchez ARS 6.0 210
Alli TOT 5.0 198
Eriksen TOT 5.2 181
Hazard CHE 5.8 185
Snodgrass WHM 3.6 132

Lukaku EVE 6.4 198
49.9 1,759

That doesn't necessarily mean he wasn't available but he'd be unlikely to be picked. What I was asking was whether he was a Chelsea player at the start of the season.

Decent finish to the weekend with cleansheets for Utd and then a Sanchez goal, sees me move up into 6th spot.
If these combos can keep producing should hopefully see me moving in the right direction

Having an ever present and performing defensive block certainly helps over the course of the season.

Good luck - brings back good memories!

I'm up to 18th in this. Shame Fonte moved to West Ham as that's cost a few points over the season.

tonight could be interesting with just the one game... I fear for those around me and the potential of having Cahill and Costa

A couple of new names zoom up the leaderboard with what can only possibly be Spurs/Arsenal blocks
The Anderson teams gained just 1 point likely with Sanchez
Either way these few games are allowing for potential starting XIs to be worked out and that overall lead is suddenly coming down

I've only just today had a heads up (cheers murf) that I was anywhere in this comp. I really had no idea that my team lying in 14,494th place was doing a little better in another league.

I'm all nervous now.
