Irish Times Fantasy Euro Game

Post by scopsm »

Hi,

Is anyone playing this game? A Silent Manager one.
Experiencing the usual issues with points etc, when will I ever learn!
https://fantasyeuros.irishtimes.com/default.aspx

I had 60 points at the start of yesterday's games and was near the top (well 400th) and then noticed I had a total of 30 points during the Russia-Slovakia game!
Got an email from them yesterday with the first round game update on Wednesday at 18.12 with the following:
Team Name: Donegal Irish
Total Points: 60
Points Since Last Email: 31
Your Rank: 403

Today, I have 53 points (got 22 points in yesterday's games)
Round Points 22
Overall Points 53
Rank 1872 /7435

So if I add Points since last email, (31 points) and 22 points, I get 53 points.
But as I had a total of 60 points, I should now have 82 points.
Very confusing :?

Oh well, I shall persist and await Silent Manager's reply which I may get by the end of the competition at this rate.

Paul

Just about given up on the game, Silent Manager too slow to investigate the issues reported. Good luck.
They did manage to record that I had Ronaldo as captain last night successfully (giving me -2 points)

I'm in it. I had a similar thing yesterday. I had 141 points in the morning then out the blue with no games being payed since the last update six points disappeared from my total. I went through the points history and found I'm actually four points down on what I should have :?

My points just don't add up. My totals are showing zero for Giroud instead of the 12 it should be, but I'm four down not 10 so even that doesn't explain it. To make it more annoying I went through a few of the teams on the leaderboard and they all add up perfectly. That's probbaly why they're up there, they're the only players who've actually been given all their points

Let me know when/if you hear anything back. Good luck....

I am in this game and another silent manager game as well, everything ok points wise in this game but points missing for Giroud who is on nil point instead of 12 and 4 for CR7 who is on -1 instead of 3, team points are short by 8 though, makes no sense at all!

Oh. The option to change formation has disappeared.

Have you two changed formation when making a transfer? Maybe that's responsible for the points problems? :?

When I changed from 343 to 352 Giroud and Ronaldo (my two remaining forwards) had their displaying scores change to zero. Although my total didn't drop until several days later. Was planning on changing back to 343 for tomorrow but now I can't

Well, I emailed them "Hi, early on Sunday afteroon six points disappeared from my total. What's happened"?

Their replay "All transfers must be made before the published kick-off time of any match for the player(s) to be able to score points in that match. Players will only score points from the time/date that they are transferred into your team".

I'm not in the least bit suprised as I've dealt with them many times before. I'd rather they just replied "Tough, this just happens randomly and you'll have to live with it". At least I'd know where I stand and that they've actually understood the question.

This was my laughable response from them

Olivier Giroud's points - When you signed a player as your captain of the day, you must remain him in your team through out the day in order to score double points. (Not even gramatically correct)

Cristiano Ronaldo's points - his points were correct. He missed the penalty in that match (-3 points) plus 2 points for playing over 70 minutes = -1 point.

Although in all seriousness, i would be 23 points off the top of a competition with a first prize of a car worth £12,000 but for their cock up!

Hmmm, well the thing about the captain isn't true but at least they had a go at explaining it rather than just quoting something that could have been read in the rules section. I don't think the people dealing with emails are English because, even ignoring their grammar, they never seen to have understood the actual problem and just copy and paste a vaguely related section from their rules.

I'm guessing there's some kind of problem with changing formation affecting the scores. A competent company would have emailed everyone to explain this, Silent Manager simply remove the option and hope nobody notices.

I would be second in the win a car one and top in the JD sports one :x

This is my response from them:
'Hi there

Changing the formation after you submitted your team, you will lose members from your current squad. You will then need to complete your team by using your transfer.

Please note: where appropriate, the game will remove from your team the lowest-scoring players in any given position. For example, when you change from a 4-4-2 to a 3-5-2 formation, your defender with the least points will be automatically removed from your defence. You can make as many changes to your formation as you like - only the final SAVED formation and player selections will take effect.

If your captain was transferred out during the match/day, he would only score normal match points. Your captain needs to be in your team throughout the match day in order to score double points.

Regards
Support Team'

I have to spend some more time now looking back at what happened as this really does not explain why I lost 29 points in Round 1 and 2 points in Round 2. The issue for me definitely is to with formation changes. Hard work trying to get a response from them though.
It would be nice if they had put that small point about the captain in the rules a bit clearer, to me they are still misleading and not clear enough. In the rules, it says:
'Captain Submission Deadline
You can change your captain as often as you like, but only the player selected as captain at the kick-off time of the first match of that day will receive double points for matches taking place on that day. You can change your captain daily, however should you change your captain after the kick-off time of the first match of that day you will not receive captain double points for that player.'

I haven't touched my formation for Round 3 (too scared to touch it now), no points lost as yet for Round 3. Currently 2nd for Round 3 as things stand with 67 points (alas no prize for the Round)

Oh yes, I just noticed the formation option has disappeared as you say.
I have 31 points missing in total so would have 195 points (almost top 20) instead of 164 points (273rd).

Well, if I'd know that was the rule I'd have done things differently! It's certainly not that explicit in their rules section and is not how it's worked in previous seasons. Does that mean we could have transferred out Ronaldo and got the -2 points back?

I suspect thats not how it's working at this tournament either and the missing points issue is related to formation changes. I suspect someone at SM knows this too, which is why the option has mysteriously vanished.....

Yes, it looks like something's happened. In the JD sports one I've got my deducted points back and everything is as it should be but not in the Irish Times one where I'm still down. In the season ticket one I think I've been given my missing points back plus an extra two points :? Odd.

Not heard anything from them though so I don't know if they've looked into it and manually added the points or if it's just righted itself somehow. Although if it had fixed itself I'd have ecpected the Times points back too as I lost the points in all three at the same time and the teams were identical. Oh well, two out of three, I suppose I'd have settled for that....

How about scopsm? got any points back?

There's meant to be another transfer amnesty window starting from last night - no sign of extra free transfers yet though, my game plan is stuffed if am stuck with all the players not due to play until second half of the draw.

No, still missing my points.
From what I can tell, the midfielders that I had from my first formation (4-5-1) in Round 1 when I changed to 4-4-2 are all still missing points from Round 1. This change was made on 12/06/2016 16:32:51

Looks like the other games are sorted for now but the Irish Times one isn't then. I've sent them an email but it's a gamble as I think it's 50/50 whether they deduct another six points because my player totals add up to 221 and my total shows 227. Although I should actually have 233.

It doesn't help that they take so long to reply all the totals and team are totally different by then. Let me know if you hear anything relevant from them or get any points back. Cheers.

Well, got another reply "Thanks for the email. We have passed this issue onto our technical team and the problem will be resolved shortly. We are sorry for the inconvenience and hope you will continue to enjoy the game".

I thought I'd got my missing points back when I saw the update this morning, but they've just got the scores wrong again. I've been given a bonus 7 points for no apparent season. That would make up for my missing six points if it wasn't for the fact other people on the leaderboard have been given even more extra points......

'Evening - i've been keeping an eye on their games as have some winning chances (especially after tonight) - chroma/sm have 4 games open to the general public as far as can see - JD sports, S4C, greene king, and irish times - plus a few others in international markets, and some for corporate clients. Scores are not consistent across games at different times, hoping that they sort themselves out eventually, but some comps earlier today (at around the time we'd have been looking to make transfers, an hour before kick-off) seemed to have double points from yesterday's match. See if these rectify soon.

I assume the fact they haevn't updated the tables in ages means at least they're aware there's a problem. Makes life difficult for us though as you need to know how far back you are going into the last few games as it will affect your transfers.

I was top of the Green king and 3rd in JD sports going into the knockout games but the Belgium result was bad for me. Who's your team then quizking?

Yeah, I have given up keeping track and have decided not to do any more formation changes as they will only mess things up again.

My last email from them which doesn't clear anything up what so ever in my team!:

I have had some points reinstated but still missing 18 points from Round 1:

In Points history, it shows:

X. Shaqiri 12/06/2016 16:32:51 15/06/2016 11:03:20 0 0 0
D. Payet 12/06/2016 16:32:51 15/06/2016 11:03:20 0 0 0
P. Pogba 12/06/2016 16:32:51 15/06/2016 11:03:20 0 0 0

yet these players were in my original starting line up submitted on 09/06/2016 and no record of those points for Round 1.

Yeah, that's what happened with Giroud for me. He was in from the start but showed as being brought in later (I'm guessing the point I changed formation) and on zero points.

I think I have now been given my points back although they came after I'd made my transfers for the Wales game. If I'd known I was getting them back I'd have made the transfers I made in the greenking game instead of the more gambly ones I went for in this and would be 5th instead of 25th  If France win tonight I'd have been pretty much guaranteed a top two finish. So annoying.

It's such a shame that these games always have so many problems. I like the website, I like the format, they're free to enter with decent prizes, there's much to like but always so much trouble.

And my final communication email from them just now (I need a lot of luck if I have to deal with their crappy investigation):

Query Ref - 251427
Date Updated - 08/07/2016 16:28:48

Update Information :

Hi there,

Between 12/06/2016 16:32:51 and 15/06/2016 11:03:20 France did not play a match so you will not receive points for Payet or Pogba. This is also true of Switzerland so you won't receive points for Shaqiri.

According to our records your starting line up from the 09/06 did not include any of these three players.

Good luck for the final!

Kind Regards,
James.
