Mahrez (c) - Sigurdsson (v).
I just don't fancy Chelsea in GW1. I think Ranieri's Leicester might bolt out of the traps. Call me bonkers if you like.

Oh my I keep forgetting they got Claudio
excpect uninspired humdrum, lot of excuses and justifications
altho he might want to pove something vs the Blues,
without Costa he might manage a goalless draw

..and the next bit of news breaking tonight is that Leicester have just bought another midfielder (+ a central defender). Now I'm unsure if Mahrez will even start. Me and my big mouth. Who can second-guess the Tinkerman? Back to the drawing board.

Re: GW1 Captain
Pretty sure Mahrez will start, the guy they have signed is a DM from what I read. King and Drinkwater (who started the last friendly in the deeper positions) are presumably most at risk. No idea which will start though.

Cheers Mav3rick! My faith is restored. Now if you could tell me who Palace's first-choice striker will be, I'd be eternally grateful.Mav3rick wrote:Pretty sure Mahrez will start, the guy they have signed is a DM from what I read. Their first choice striker is Cristiano Ronaldo, but unfortunately he's not available

Never nice having a player against your team but I'll be going Hazard.

Think of it as a little insurance policy. If you get hammered and Hazard scores, at least you'll have the FPL points to compensate.Les_Gomiserables wrote:Never nice having a player against your team but I'll be going Hazard.

I'm very tempted by Rooney, but terrified to go against such a clear favourite in GW1. Hazard it is.

Re: GW1 Captain
Chelsea don't seem to be firing in pre season at all while there is some negativity around spurs due to lack of signings and playing two friendlies in midweek before a lunchtime kick off on Sat. All this is making me favour Rooney.MPTree wrote:Think of it as a little insurance policy. Re: GW1 Captain
Theo for me.
I feel the need to own Hazard, but he is probably the one super-premium that I'm not afraid to go against the consensus with the armband.
He is consistent rather than explosive. His highest single GW score last year was 14 compared to Aguero (23) and Sanchez (19).
Walcott's cumulative PP90 for the last 3 seasons = 7.94
That's higher than Aguero over the same period

I'm going with:
Walcott (C)
Rooney (VC)
Although Lukaku for a one gw punt is tempting. Hmmm.....

I have Cazorla as captain at the moment but if Walcott is fit and healthy and a regular starter I will have him in for GW2.

Re: GW1 Captain
Hamstring surgery is what he might need and that puts you out for approx 6 months.mayweather wrote:the costa thing is doing my head in once again. it could hurt a lot of us. how can we have him in our teams if mourinho says hes not sure. im amazed he hasnt sorted out his gammy hamstring. what was he doing all summer
I think they took the option to ease him through pre-season and hope his hamstring strengthened...... it has backfired and now he will probably have to carry it all season.

Re: GW1 Captain
Where has the Lukaku love come ? Strange choice. Has he had a good pre-season or something?
I prefer a Sunday captain to avoid banging my head on Saturday, so Walcott for me.

Not really sure it's possible to 'sort out'. The intensity of playing competitive games again will only heighten the chance that his muscular deficiency will land him in trouble againmayweather wrote:the costa thing is doing my head in once again. it could hurt a lot of us. how can we have him in our teams if mourinho says hes not sure. im amazed he hasnt sorted out his gammy hamstring. what was he doing all summer

Re: GW1 Captain
In a way it kind of helps us out though as not many of the serious players are going to consider Costa now. Gamblers and casuals might profit in the short term of course. The Toon Man wrote:Not really sure it's possible to 'sort out'. Re: GW1 Captain
Rooney for me although Haz had the armband all week. I could still change my mind before the deadline of course
Interesting stat from bbc:
"Wayne Rooney has scored six goals on the opening weekend, more than any other current Premier League player. He has scored 10 goals in 15 league appearances for United against Spurs."
Surely worth the armband over Hazard? Although chelsea at home is always a tempting fixture...decisions!
