At the moment I have only accepted the highest scorers, and as such (still with Paxton to join) we are on top of mini-league.
It is visible in the leaderboard now, so as things stand we have a super mini-league (I currently have not accepted applications from the lower scorers)
Let's see what it looks like after Sunday scores updated, we will still have time to get another one created if everybody looks onto the forum on Monday.

Probably won't be wanting me since I took a small chance and captained Scott this weekend - presume everybody else has Rory. Still, there is always scope for an implosion of Masters proportions I guess.

Pincher,
I went with Scott as well but the R&A are determined Precious wins the Open - they will not let anyone play in wind and rain esp Rory as he will implode.

Just have to make it up the lost ground over the enxt few weeks.

Just done a quick calculation of the 2 mini-leagues.

I have us about 600 points clear of them after the Open, and the fact we have more players gives us less volatility to our scores (i.e. we have more people that can cover for one players poor week), and with the higher players in our league (14CT and Battersea Bandits) having poor weeks and the lower players (fringo and Meglew) having good weeks, our overall scores have closed up dramatically.
I would say let's keep it as it is, assuming my calculations are correct.

Whoever is playing as Queens Gambit (3rd in overall league) could you introduce yourself.

I have accepted you into the mini-league (and increased our average at the same time)

In comparison to the other top team in mini-league, we have 2 players with better scores than their best, and all 10 of our players are better than their second placed player (aswell obviously as their 3rd, 4th and 5th players)
Still 2 hours to go before registration is closed, but as we have our 10 all in top 25, and due to new entry we are basically an average of 700 points ahead, so 7000 points in total we would have to drop against their average.

Currently leading the monthly in this game.

Thought carefully about my trans, eventually bringing in Danny Willett.

He's just taken a quad on the 17th hole

Nothing better than looking on the leaderboard where your player was, and then having to have to scroll down a couple of pages to find him

As least he didn't bogey the last to miss the cut.....I'd have put money on it!

Hopefully, last time I won something with a game run by SM had trouble getting my prize but got it in the end. Hope I have better luck this time.
Did you manage to get hold of your driver DD? And if so, how did you go about it? :D

Still not heard anything despite couple of E-mails. Still waiting for official notification that have won. Good luck with getting yours. Does say in the rules that prizes may be issued up to 3 months after the competition ends so there's still hope!!!

Well done Shaun!

You'll need to give SM at least 28 days before you can begin chasing and then as DD says perhaps another 2 months on top of that.

On the plus side I've never had any issues with NCG getting prizes sorted in the past so I'm sure all good things will come to those who wait!

Yes, I spotted it when checking the other leaders teams right on the deadline.

Like you I suspect, I have been using a downloaded list for picking my teams, which of course didn't have him on it :(

Yup - missed Mr Reed in the YGT game but didn't make the same mistake with NCG.

Thought it was +50% scores though!

Well I still think its a noddy competition but it kept me amused over the last 24 hours. Languishing down in 10th I don't think I can get in the prizes but doing my bit for the league  I did the sensible straight bat selections of capt Colsaerts,Willett & RCB early evening and then sat back and waited. By 11pm only half of the top 20 had made their selections so a cat and mouse game was clearly afoot - who would gamble who would play it straight.

Imagine the smile on Chris's (Forever) face this morning when he woke and saw the carnage ! what went on ? The gambles by Toffee and Smashing are fair enough but take a look elsewhere !

Queens Gambit - 1st - sensible selections but was either timed out or forgot to select a captain
Forever England 2nd - Capt Colsaerts,Willett & Lynn
Toffee 3rd - clearly a gamble on Jamieson -punting for the top
Shanks - 4th - no changes ! timed out, forgot, weird punt on the Shiners next week ?
Dougay 5th - as above ! (surely they have to be the same player don't they ?)
Fore Faye 6th - straight bat Colsaerts,RCB & Jamieson but a fat finger (?) captains Koepka !
Red Deer 7th - straight bat Capt Colsaerts, Willett & Jamieson
Smashing 8th - gambles on Willett
Swing Low 9th - straight bat Capt Colsaerts Willett & Lynn

Lower down its all fairly dull - though a few Capt Jamiesons and one Molinari (not two  )

Nice post Topspur :P

Think coryphaeus just forgot to allocate a captain (transfers were done early) - have nearly done that myself on a few occasions this year!

Must admit that it is confusing when only one of the two events count in any given week, especially when events both sides of the Atlantic have been included in previous weeks!

It will however result in 'samey' teams, making catching up all the more difficult :(

Come on Jamieson!!!!

Presume the leader did changes on his phone. When you do this is still leaves a legacy 'C' beside your previous player to occupy the slot, but I think this is something to do with memory cache etc. Either way, it leaves the door open for those of us doing the chasing.

Not sure what happened to the guys in 4th and 6th, but Dougay didn't do changes for the Ryder Cup either.

Perhaps everyone is just crumbling under the might of Fiso?

Touché!

Gave the 2013 ones to my dad - still playing with the Titleist set I won from NCG a few years back! 1st & 2nd both win irons tho, so there's room for us both. :-)

This little beauty arrived today, as a result of getting the highest score in August :D
    • Image
  • Timeline

7 Oct - got in touch with Silent Manager

7 Oct - passed on to NCG

9 Oct - passed on to Taylormade

10 Oct - Taylormade sent me an email, asking what spec driver I wanted them to order

    20 Oct - received driver

Can't complain about that at all, many thanks to all involved :D

Happy Days, Toffeelover ... enjoy it & congats!!

Interestingly, I am not authorised to read about the FISO Wales trip in March

Ok, I'll admit I'm a Paddy (now there's a surprise  ) ... but they let me into Wales the last time the Irish went over there to beat them in the Millenium Stadium (last year) ... and I'm a bit of a bandit off 18 if I hit one of my very sparse good days on a golf course ... and I havent been on a golf course in about 2 years ... any other reason that I would'nt be allowed?

I think somehow I'm in a special category .... like Gollum, for example
It doesn't matter what link in the Golf Soc Forum I look at, I'm banned.
Someone has seen my divots, no doubt

How do you apply to a forum where there is no visible method of applying and no nominated chairperson?
And the applicant is not a member of mensa & cannot figure it out for himself
