Have got 11 left but need to bring Adebayor back in - So far I have used the following:

SEB  Carlton Cole (2nd Weekend)
Gudjonnsen  Mijhas (2nd Weekend)
Adebayor  Bent ((Last Week B4 Sunderland game)
Osman  Lennon (yesterday b4 3PM)

Still debating the Arshavin situation, he has got 1 goal in 6 games & been crocked for 2 of them. Fabregas on the other hand is getting points every game & would free up another .5 to get rid of Samuel.
Happy enough with the midfield now, Osman has been on borrowed time & doesn't look like he is going to do much this season... Bent hat-trick this afternoon might see a few of us shift up that leader board overall...

Okay, all my eggs have gone into the "I hope no-one gets injured" basket and I have very little flexibility should there be a couple of long term injuries or players sold in January but if the bulk of this squad can survive the next 8 months - 10 different clubs represented in the forward and midfield, 9 of which are very captainable (Bowyer may not be too shabby an option either) and there appears to be very good points potential from the backs in both terms of CS, goals and assists. Also generally there should be good options should I actually need to make a transfer or two in most positions. Next to bottom in the ISO league, I had to do something.

A 15:59 tinker for me. Defoe  Bent. Shocking decision really only had Defoe in a few weeks, but could do with the extra 0.4m and looks like I got lucky. Just hope it went through in time as I cut it a bit fine!

Looks like we all have got Bent then! Am hoping for Carlton Cole to score in the next 2 games before I get Ade back in (As long as he doesn't get another ban for the celebration vs Gooners) - I like you NM will have only had Cole for a few games but want to get Ade back which was always the case. I would have brought Bent in for Cole if Ade had not been suspended a couple of weeks ago but thought I might as well get those extra 3 games out of Cole with Ade being suspended.

Bold move Vid on those transfers - I like your style I just havn't got the balls to make that many this early!

Thought I'd been a bit trigger happy with the ISO transfers until I saw Vid's post  . As part of my ISO restructuring I brought in Vermaelen for Samba in time to star him in the Fulham game.

Transfer 4: Samba  Vermaelen.

It would appear that with 7 transfers made for the w/e I've made some good short term progress, up to 15th from 30th and 2nd highest score in the ISO league from the 9 matches played.

Still uncertain and not confident about conducting timed transfers. Tried setting this up on Saturday for the 17:30 (Vidic to Vermaulen) but appears to have changed it from the first kick off of the day so 12 points down

Saying all that 97 for the week sees me rise to 13th, largely based on Darren Bent :)

You can't do timed transfers this season. You could only do them last year with CleverTV's website (the one that locked in flange selections when making future selections).

This year it's back to the old system of transfers (no future setting, and when you make one it wipes any future flanges selected)

That's what I thought reds however when you read the rules it seems to imply that you can change teams between flanges.

I'm now reading that as meaning that you have to be physically in front of the PC between flanges in order to invoke the transfer!

Oh well never mind as I spent a very nice Saturday afternoon drinking wine with friends :D

Transfer No 3 - Gerrard  Barry

...shortly to be followed by Adebayor  Torres

Perhaps a couple of weeks too late, but it did gain me 5 points last night (3 instead of -2 for Tomkins*), and Torres is looking like a must-have. Barry should get a few assists and penalties - plus the odd goal from open play - and (if fit) will play in every game.

This also leaves me with some cash to upgrade Samuel and/or Tomkins.

A couple from me last weekend too.

Tomkins  Heitinga
Samba  Vermaelen

Just felt my defence generally was too weak especially after bringing in the never-present Fabio as an enabler, really thought he’d have made a few sub appearances by now. I’m reluctant to get rid of him despite his constant benching, with a lack of decent upgrades at FB it was Tomkins & Samba who got the chop. Feel much happier. West Ham look all at sea & I’ve never been comfortable with Samba despite his attacking prowess! Allardyce teams annoy me, means I’ll miss out starring him against Burnley but I wasn’t exactly relishing that prospect anyway.

Now the December TV games have been announced I've just been looking at coverage for my squads over the rest of the year. Overall not too bad but there's one number that sticks out like a sore thumb in my ISO squad and that's the goalkeeper clashes. I usually play the proverbial straight bat with my keepers - generally picking 2 of the big 4 keepers and stick with them throughout and I've never given keeper clashes a second thought in the past.

For those of us who have stuck with the original ISO keepers the fixture list seems to have been particularly unkind this year. There are six clashes and even when the keepers don't clash the Fulham fixtures are not always that appealing, particularly given their league form so far. Here's my thoughts on the remaining 2009 fixtures. Starts off well, but then goes downhill pretty rapidly!

Hull (h) - star :D
Man City (a) – no clash, but bench anyway :?:
Liverpool (h) - clash  bench
Wigan (a) - clash  bench
Birmingham (a) - clash  bench
Blackburn (h) – play (star possibility)
Bolton (h) – play
Sunderland (h) – play
Burnley (a) - clash  bench
Man Utd (h) – no clash, but bench anyway :?:
Spurs (h) - clash  bench
Chelsea (a) - clash  bench
[Stoke (a) to be rearranged]

So after the Hull game Schwarzer covers no standalones for me and I may only play him in 3 of the 11 scheduled games  .

With 300K in the bank it's going to be hard for me to avoid hitting the transfer button for the 6th time soon. Schwarzer's replacement would lead to at least 2 or 3 clashes, but would be someone I'd have more confidence in playing in a tough fixture, so potentially gaining 5 or 6 fixtures and a better long term prospect. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the info Chocs, most useful!

Must admit, I havn’t looked into the goal keeping clashes but agree Fulham havn’t made the best of starts. If Schwarzer is going to only be playing 3 of possible 11 games due to clashes & poor fixtures then I think it warrants a transfer. I have used 6 transfers also but I think after the Hull game it might be worth the Aussie keeper getting the boot rather than warming the bench until after xmas!

Blimey! Cheers Chocs. I’ve also only taken notice of my striker clashes, but that’s a lot of games to miss. I’ve already made 3 defensive subs so for me Schwarzer is in there for the duration.

Looking on bright side you could actually play him in 6 of the 11 if you wanted. I’d play him against Man U (H) and perhaps Man C (A), he never gets booked & I don’t think Fulham would get spanked so for me only a small risk of a minus score, plus there's always a chance of a penalty save. He was always going to be benched against Chelsea since we all have Cech. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for the next batch of TV games & he also played their FA Cup games last season unlike many keepers. At least the other 3 home games he’ll definitely play look quite nice, so I'll probably stick.

Transfer No. 4 Samba  Dunne
Transfer No. 5 Tomkins  Vermaelen

Time to ship out the dead wood and, having plenty of cash in hand, these ones looked pretty obvious. In particular, after Sambas -4 as Star on (last) Sunday, I didn't fancy any more minus points when he attempts to deal with Drogba this afternoon.

Next on the way out is JLS (nil points  ) - although it's harder to find an affordable and compelling replacement in the full back dept because Ashley Cole won't allow me to do the Adebayor  Torres switch when the later is fit again. Those 2 moves will only leave me with 8, so - barring injuries - that will probably be it until the New Year - then, of course, the ACON issue will arise.

but...Fabregas is beginning to look a better long-term bet than Arshavin. :?

I did transfers 4,5,6 last weekend:

Arshavin  Fabregas (partially fuelled by Arsh's benching but also as a better season-long bet imo, as AKN said above)

Vidic  Vermaelen (Vidic was out, Verm looks like a must-have, and it saves me loads of dosh to sort out Milijas/Samuel etc...)

Samuel  Baines (Bolton not looking like keeping CSs, no attractive cheap FBs. Regains my EVE cover after dumping Osman a while ago)

Swiftly followed by number 7  today:

Tomkins  Dunne (no explanation needed really!) :D

Despite Fulham having steadied the ship in the last week I still went through with dropping Schwarzer on Saturday. Brought in Friedel as a better long term bet and the extra fixtures gained due to only a couple of clashes.

Samuel  Baines (Bolton not looking like keeping CSs, no attractive cheap FBs. Regains my EVE cover after dumping Osman a while ago)
Phew, couple of lucky escapes! Vidic off last weekend, Samuel today. Arshavin red card next week?
