Post by Ashers »

Thought it would be good to make a new thread for this game, so we can start from square 1.

http://fantasyfootball.dailymail.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Prizes are:

Main League Winner
£20,000 (highest overall points scoring team)
Main League 2nd
£5,000 (2nd highest overall points scoring team)
Main League 3rd
£1,000 (3rd highest overall points scoring team)
Mini League Champions
£5,000 (highest average scoring league)
Original Team League
£500 (team that would have scored the highest without making transfers)
Golden Boot League
£500 (team that scores the most goals over the season)
Highest Weekly Score
£500 (team that scores the highest number of points in any one week)
Manager of the Month
£700* (Highest score in each of the 10 months)
Chairman's Award
£500 (get 10 or more teams in your league to enter the draw on the opening day of the season)
*A Manager may win a monthly prize on no more than one occasion during the Season, regardless of the number of teams entered.

Rules for a mini league:

Prizes
The Mini League with the highest average score at the end of the season will win £5,000!
How to create or join a Mini League
It's quick and easy to create or join a Mini League and once you're playing in one, you'll wonder why you didn't get involved sooner.
1. Successfully register a fantasy football team in the game and sign-in
2. Head to the Mini Leagues menu item at the top of the screen
3. Choose to Chair (create) or Join a Mini League and follow the relevant instruction on-screen
4. If you're acting as Chairman, get all your mates to join you by using our 'Mail My Mates' facility (you'll need a minimum of 5 people to create a valid Mini League but there's no upper limit).

Rather than having one massive mini league, I think it would be good to start a new mini league once each one has 10 teams as the score is based on the average score of the mini league.

Caution needed on mini league entries gents - you can enter mini leagues up to the end of October I think and top performing teams out of your five would be best used with other top performing teams.

Think before you join mini leagues....ask andy ;)

What you on about Wilbert??
Only said ten due to:

Chairman's Award
£500 (get 10 or more teams in your league to enter the draw on the opening day of the season)

If any wins this would be split ten ways.

One of the Ten Commandments - Read & digest the Rules.

Slow down guys - You have till 2359hrs on October 24th to form a Mini League.

Not sure who organised it last year, but someone created Leagues of 5, with the Top 5 Performing Teams as at the middle of October in League 1, the next 5 in League 2 and so on.

Not sure who these leagues eventually performed as I was not involved as I played this game poorly last season.

ANYONE WHO FORMS A LEAGUE NOW WILL NOT BE IN CONTENTION FOR THE MINI LEAGUE PRIZE, as it is an Aveage overall score and not the average of the Top 5 as in the Telegraph.

@Ashers - the themed idea sounds right but going with 10 teams as opposed to 5 (which would really mess up the average) is not a good idea just because there's a £500 lucky dip prize, would rather go with skill/knowledge for a bigger prize than luck for a smaller one

Lets keep them to five then.

I know the rules stated we have until October, but I will only forget if I do not do it before the start of the season.

Miles - Art tried to set one up last year without much takeup

More popular was chrispyb's "tell me your highest scoring team and how many transfers left and let's build a few mini leagues" (two-decent-teams-in-mini-league-need-3-more-t80069.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

Some of these would have done really well had they not been carrying some deadweight who either messed things up really badly after great starts or lied about transfers/subs left at the end of October.

Anyone can get high in national standing by burning transfers and captain changes the Mail does not allow you to see how many others have left.

If I'm lucky enough to get a good start in acouple of teams I'll be selective who I join with this year.....

I have 5 quite different sides, and that is without any interesting real life transfers.

Each team can join 5 mini leagues, so can see no harm of getting these in early and adding them to stronger mini leagues if needed in October.

Unlimited transfers before first kick off :)

It's really nice to see some new interest and banter about this excellent game. It was only a small core that kept it going last year.

Ashers can you clarify what you mean by 'themed' - whole block defence? 6 players total? half block defence plus 2 others? thanks

I think that's down to it being one of the first to launch Wils, once TFF and FPL start we'll see this forum dry up, not too keen on the subs bench as opposed to one last season, lots of hard work
