Device for detecting electric wiring or plumbing pipes
Sorry for posting this thread in pub talk, but there isn't a DIY forum, so there.
I want to avoid killing myself when drilling into walls, so I need one of those wiring, plumbing detectors (like a metal detector). I know they won't work on plastic plumbing.
Anyone know what these devices are actually called?
I've typed 'drill', 'wall', 'detect' and 'electric' into google, but get loads of crap results.
Has anyone used one? Any recommendations? How much should I pay?

No, but it's probably best if you shower first and don't dry yourself, before hammering the nails. That way you'll also know when you're "close" to wiring.cheshire cat wrote:You old wind-up scamp, you!anon1086 wrote:Have you tried hammering small nails into the wall where you suspect there may be wiring or piping
Shall I go and get a long stand too?
