Re: Anti Depressants, or Happy Pills
Thanks to all, and yes it is a big help in my understanding my position,; and explaining "me" to others - although yep to the skill bit - and as if I can look at a pile of toothpicks and know how many are there
However, as with most Mental Health Diagnoses it is a vague wooly thing to pigeon hole people, with obvious stereotypes...
That said, I volunteer helping people with PI and ESA Forms and helped someone with Autism do their one. Her mother made her turn up and wanted to do all her talking (and she didn't want to talk): well we had an absolute scream talking the same language and the mother was lost....

Best of luck going forwards. Although a diagnosis or label in itself doesn't change much. You are still who you are but you can at least be positive that you are now in a better position to find a way forwards.
I diagnosed my TFF teams as being 'shit' the other week. I prescribed an injection of Kane then a concentrated two week course of Aguero and now things are looking better. This may only be a short term thing but I am taking each day as it comes....
(sorry, not knowledgeable to do deep on this so you just get rubbish FF analogies. The best wishes were sincere though!)

This does do my head in a bit. Tiny Spiny is on the autistic spectrum and goes to a "special school" and whilst he is nowhere near as poorly as many of the other kids does face quite a challenge. We have had many people who say on hearing about his diagnosis "has he got a fantastic memory" or "is he really good at art". He actually is okay at art but has a terrible memory and is the most untidy person on the planet. His real challenges though are all social and emotional.Moist von Lipwig wrote:As eloquently put by others above, I hope having a diagnosis puts you in a place where you can move on positively from here.
Funnily enough I did read an article somewhere this week about the lack of understanding of the condition and how many people with autism are asked what their 'skill' is!blahblah wrote: Obviously I'm not Autistic enough to be any good at this Fantasy sport lark
Getting the diagnosis whilst initially being a shock has proved helpful to all of us but the main thing has been to just carry on as normally as we can.
All the best to you blah. Going forward now may be a little different but you can still go forward in a big way.

Thanks, and to run with your analogy: lots of teams are like that, where a few quick fixes sort it out; however some need a total overhaul of the season long picks; and some are Fantasy Football sides entered into an Egg-Chasing Comp (not the Egg Cup here, but that Posh kid thing).murf wrote:Best of luck going forwards. I pleased for you Blah. My daughter is on the spectrum. Its generally a relief to know. Bloody challenging as a parent, but still a relief.
I'm probably most of the way there myself....
BTW, all the 'specialist' forums I frequent (actually just this and a car forum) seem to have quite a few ASD folk (mainly men). Coincidence? I think not.

Thanks for the update blah, as has been said, you now have a better idea of what you have to work with/ against, you analyse stuff, you'll analyse this, you'll find something that works for you, you'll keep going. Some of the posters earlier on aren't still here for various reasons, you still are, you took a break, you came back, plenty of people that don't really know you do care. Take strength from that and don't let murf get too far ahead!

That last comment was nearly a spurty beer moment.Vid wrote:Thanks for the update blah, as has been said, you now have a better idea of what you have to work with/ against, you analyse stuff, you'll analyse this, you'll find something that works for you, you'll keep going. I have always wondered how you get diagnosed with metal health problems. I have mental health problems and i am on sertraline right now for my depression and anxiety.
It like how can a doctor tell you have mental health problems like aspergers, soical anxiety , selective mutism, agoraphobia. You can tell them but they can't really diagnosed you.Well they don't with me.

I finally got diagnosed with Autism. I have suspected it for quite a while, but never been referred for Assessment, until my current Clinical Psychologist did a few months back. This is despite it having been brought even with CMHT bods, and while it makes a lot of sense, and has kinda lifted a weight from my shoulders I am starting to get annoyed* at the years that I have lost...
*annoyed is a rare sensation for me for the last however many years, as so little has mattered etc.

Oh referred to assessment didn't see that last time i read it.

I have noticed clinical depression is you want to die , don't want to get out of bed no mood to do anything but sleep . And anxiety you will have trouble sleeping and if you get to sleep you will have vivid dream and wake up every 2 hours. And have problems concentrating during the day. Also random crying and shaking
