I have had a little change of plan with getting my endurance up. Before I was just going for a PB every one or two weeks when I felt confident with steady jogging in between.crispybits wrote:
Do you remember how hard it was when you first tried to run 5k at all?
You could dial it back for sure, or you could keep pushing. As long as you're not damaging your body in the attempt to go 11.5 then sure you may not finish a run or two, but just like when you first failed to do it at all, you'll be forcing your body to adapt even quicker to the new pace and soon enough you'll be doing 11.5k with the same (dis)comfort levels as you now do 10.5
Recently over the last maybe 3 weeks I have been doing shorter distances at a much faster pace so when it comes to trying to run 5km PBs then it feels a much easier pace. I'm going to carry on with this and see if it continues to work out
I still hate running but I know its doing me good so persevering with it. And as you mention - at first I struggled to run 5km now I'd say 28 minute 5kms are reasonably comfortable and I just have to push beyond that.
