Well with 2 l's it is unlikely to be anything to do with vacation type of holiday, more like Holliday Grainger or Doc Holliday. (I think Bilile only has\had the one l.)

Have you got any other clues and correct answers? Cryptic things normally have a level, which helps find answers. I remember trying to do a cryptic crossword from the Sun, or some such paper. It was like a bad trip :? :lol:

17 if looked on as dried grass land could be Hayfield, but like Hindhead it is more a village than a town.

Hay Heath uses 'grass' twice. Not sure how accurate the setter is.....

It could end ley or lea, which mean meadow, and\or dried could be arid or similar?

and "this meadow" makes me think it is a specific meadow rather than any meadow as it would have read "in a meadow"
