Cash Leagues for 2018-19 - Entry-fee Poll

Post by jeffmcgow »

I've decided to abandon my idea for a variable-entry-fee league next season due to workload.

Instead I will set up TWO classic leagues, both having the same prize structure: 35%, 25%, 15%, 8%, 7%, 5%, 3%, 2%

The first league will have a £10 entry fee; the second one will be decided by the result of the poll. I will go along with the price point which is acceptable to most voters (*).

Please vote for the maximum entry fee you will be happy to pay.

Notes: The games will launch next season and be open to all FISO members. I will include all the usual caveats regarding joining cash leagues. I've run FISO cash leagues before and can always be trusted to pay out promptly at the end of the season.

(*I'll take this to be 70% of voters)

Currently the poll is suggesting a £25 league to go along with a £10 game.

I'll keep the poll running until the official game launches.

More votes are welcome!

Currently the poll is still suggesting a £25 league to go along with a £10 game.

I'll keep the poll running until the official game launches.

More votes are welcome!

I've selected 60 as I think you get better games with more cash but less players like Grover' s league which is fantastic . I'm happy with any though so count me in mate

Agreed mate I think 20 or 25 will be the most popular to be honest. Not everyone has the budget for bigger games and FISO to me seems a bit more towards the Dream Team game than FPL.

Hope Jeff doesn't mind me sticking my nose in but it's worth noting As Jeff is doing the £10 one I don't think there will be a lot of difference between a £20/£25 one and his £10 one and it could more or less be a duplicate league with the same players and same winners . That's another reason I chose higher. By experience they are the most competetive games but it's all subjective. Good of him to run the leagues regardless. Easy for me to make comment but it's not me who's having to sort it and look after the cash ( although id be more than happy to help). Just thought it's worth mentioning.

I don't mind at all, DAREEL :)

Your point about the same players and names appearing in both leagues is a relevant one, and one I've been thinking about for a couple of weeks. It would be nice to have each league with its own character.

One solution I considered was to allow entry into one league or the other. Trouble is, I'd have to be in both in order to administer them. Perhaps I could enter a league without standing.

I'm actually not averse to having leagues at 3 price points and allow a manager to enter at most 2 of the leagues. Just a thought.

Could work Jeff If your running the leagues no one can have any issue with you joining both/all 3 surely. It may limit the numbers you get in the £10 one but that's not always a bad thing . Plenty of time yet anyway mate

The poll is suggesting a £20 league to go along with a £10 game, although I am still open to the idea of a 3rd league of £50ish should there be sufficient interest. (I do not want to detract from SuperGrover's league though.)

I'll keep the poll running until the official game launches, because I'm looking for many more votes before deciding the price point(s) for the leagues.

Poll suggesting £20 for the second league based on 70% of votes cast. There is also some support for a £50+ league with 6 votes.

Current weighted average of the votes cast is £38.30

One third of voters favouring a £20 fee for the second league, one third in favour of a £50+ league.

There hasn't been an overwhelming response to the poll, perhaps because I put it in the minileague sub-forum :(

So, I'm making an executive decision and will be setting up leagues at 3 price points: £10, £20 and £50. I was wavering between £20 and £25, but finally plumped for £20.

£10 League
£20 League
£50 League
