An idea for a new minileague in 2018-19

I am gauging interest for an idea I have for a cash minileague next season.

The idea is simple. A classic FPL league but with variable entry fee!

You enter and pay an entry fee of £10, £20 or £30. The more you pay, the more you can win.

It works like this. The winner gets 1st prize as normal but also gets the 2nd prize if he/she has paid £20 and the 3rd prize if he/she has paid £30. The same works for the person finishing second: they get the highest unawarded prize plus extra prizes based on their entry fee.

The plan is to take the prize pot and use 20% of it to award £200 prizes. 50% of the remaining is used for £100 prizes and the balance £50 prizes. Any spare is added to the top prize.

So now I am gauging interest. If you would be interested in joining next season, please select the entry fee you would most likely pay.

As an example: 8 people pay £30, 20 pay £20 and 50 pay £10. 78 entrants, prize pool £1140. I divide this up £240/£200/4 x £100/6 x £50. 12 prize slots in all. So, if you pay £20 and win you scoop £440 and second place, paying £30 say, gets £300, leaving 7 prize slots for 3rd, 4th etc.

Note: please do not send me any money just yet. If I decide to run the competition, I will start a new thread and include the required minileague warnings.

So, like, you're racing to grab melons, and you can buy 1, 2 or 3 bags at the start.
If in the end you race closely a guy with one bag and another with 3 bags, you of course must hope the 3-bagged one doesn't win
Say you bought 2 bags. If it's the sparing 1-bagged to win, you in 2nd can grab 2nd and 3rd melon. If it's instead the greedier 3-bagged to sprint ahead, he'll grab the 3 biggest melons, leaving you still in 2nd but with the 4th and 5th melon. I figure that could be frustrating!
In your example, with 12 prizes (regardless their structure) if four 3-baggers get in front, the 5th placed gets nothing

If those richest turn also out to be more skilled, there will be less left for others.
If the winners were thriftier, more players will share.
Like serving oneselves in turn from the serving plate at a dinner... "Hey, leave somethin for those who'll get served later" "You wish. I paid for 3 and I'll eat for 3!"

At the price points u mention Jeff i would be very tempted to enter all leagues (presuming ive read this right?). 30,20, and 10. If not i would go with 30 as this is a very affordable entry point with reasonable rewards

The idea is to have one league but you get to choose an entry fee. £30 allows you to win three prizes; £10 allows you to win one prize.

I'd probably play, always on the lookout for cash leagues. £30 would be fine.
