I'm confused now

If I go to Edit my Portfolio the first row is;
Cash - JP Morgan Sterling Liquidity Fund, which I can't edit.
Whats that all about?

If you invest in other funds / up your percentages - then this will go down by an equal and opposite amount ie this is the unapplied cash.

It's right that you can't edit it.
If you invest in another fund then the balance in the JP Morgan Sterling Liquidity Fund will drop.
As ity's your cash balance it only changes as you buy or sell funds

I'm now confused by their terminology?

I originally had
35% Specialist
30% Overseas Equities
10% UK Equitys
25% Cash

I wanted to buy 25% more Specialist

It wouldn't let me buy anything other than Bonds without breaking their 75% Equity/Specialist rule.

Is that right?

Yes - you could invest your cash in Bonds and be ok but not in equity / specialist as you are already maxed out in them at 75%. You may be able to up your specialist at the expense of equities a bit - maybe not the full 25%.

Cheers Knulpuk

I think it would have been a bit clearer if they had just said you can only have 75% invested in Funds, be it an Overseas Specialist Fund or a UK Equities Fund or whatever?
They're all funds after all.

I have until midnight to change my mind so I'll go and have another look.

Interesting. I've got:

9% Cash
35% Specialist
31% Bonds
15% UK Equities
10% Overseas Equities (half of this is really bonds though)

You didn't fancy any fixed interest/bond exposure then?

Strangely, their most popular funds are completely different when you look at last week versus overall:

Last week:

1 JPMorgan Natural Resources
2 BlackRock Gold & General
3 JPMorgan Chinese Trust
4 Newton International Bond
5 M&G Strategic Corporate Bond
6 JPMorgan Russian Securities Trust
7 JPMorgan Indian Trust
8 JPMorgan American Trust
9 M&G Corporate Bond
10 M&G Gilt & Fixed Interest Income

Overall:

1 AEGON Sterling Corporate Bond
2 Royal London Corporate Bond
3 AXA Framlington Managed Income
4 Old Mutual Corporate Bond
5 AEGON Global Bond
6 Norwich Union Norwich Higher Income Plus
7 AEGON Ethical Corporate Bond
8 Standard Life Corporate Bond
9 Henderson Preference & Bond
10 AEGON High Yield Bond

Not a single cross-over even though the game has been running for less than 2 days :?

Does this game have a major flaw in it?

I just looked at my portfolio and one fund was doing particularly badly.

I had invested 10% in it ( nominally £10,000) and it was down to £9,600ish

So I sold it, and bought a new fund ( 10% nom) which is valued at £10,200

I appear to have made £600 simply by selling a loss making fund and buying a profitable fund. The fund I sold was obviously worth less than 10% of my total value, but the game doesn't seem to take that into Account?

If I'm reading this correctly, all you need to do is keep buying the best performing fund and selling your worst performing fund and you'll `make'money every time.

Is this how the leader has made 20% already?

The trades pending, so it's possible that the figures will be adjusted at midnight. However, at the moment it shows that I've purchased £10,286 worth of funds, with £9,600 worth of currency. :?

Will do

Just to clarify, my total fund currently stands at £102,864.14p

The new purchase is £10,286.14p ( i.e exactly 10% of total )

The old fund that was sold was worth £9,656 ( originally 10% but now worth only 9.39% of my total fund). So in theory I should only be able to purchase £9,656 of the new fund.

It's the way they seem to have fixed the percentages, when in reality they are constantly changing that is confusing. :?
