Money Observer's Investor of the Year competition 05/06

I'd forgotten all about this (after tinkering with my portfolio almost every day in the early days). And today I get an email telling me I've won the monthly prize for January (by 0.02%)!

A quick check on the site and the league table looks like this:

1 Pink Fluffy Dice £30,582.76
2 paul gray £25,526.62
3 Bristol League £22,524.46
4 Mr Tops £22,410.15
5 rnunn £20,644.42
6 CHRISTMAS STOCKING £20,169.10
7 Ashley House £19,660.86
8 imonskag £19,531.85
9 Cladger Nallocks £19,451.81
10 homer and marge £18,989.01

Not a bad month, I thought. Then I realised that that's the overall table! 7 weeks to go, a 20% lead and £10k to play for... stress, stress, pressure!!

I take it that means you're now 10K richer? If so, well done Sir! Will you be buying a new striker for Leek Town?!

Let me know when you set up as an Investment Manager. Hopefully by then I'll have cracked the Sun's DreamTeam game and have some sizeable winnings to invest with you.

Well done. :D

Thank you all. My face will be appearing in Sunday's Observer; you may wish to avoid reading it over breakfast.

No plans for the cash although I've had one offer to elope on a world cruise. Any other suggestions?

A - I've heard you can get 3/1 on Brazil for the world cup
B - Employ Dot as your betting specialist

Quality work bs!

Turning a profit of over 400% on one company and then holding on to win despite losing nearly half of that gain!!!

(Apologies for the nasty, cynical and probably miles from the truth interpretation of the article  )

A win without Henry in your team. Wow! Sounds like you also picked a CK who came good. Confession time?

Thanks all.

The article quoted me 3 times, and got 2 of them wrong! The rise I experienced on CSH was 248%. What the article didn't say (because I didn't tell them) was that I'd forgotten I was in the competition
