Week 27
A full set of midweek fixtures with TFFO squad clashes galore, followed by the FA Cup 5th round. Here we go...!
Flange 1: Tuesday 19:45
Fulham v Burnley (20:00)
Man City v Bolton
Portsmouth v Sunderland
Wigan v Stoke
Tevez would probably have been the obvious star man here, with Bent the prime alternative - both have already rewarded their pickers at time of writing with a penalty apiece (both dubious: Bent's due to his manner of winning it and Tevez's because it really should have been saved).
Doubt there'll be many more players on show tonight for many TFFO teams, possibly with exception of a defender or two from Fulham or City, or a Duff or N'Zogbia or other similar cheapie mid.
Flange 2: Wednesday 19:45
Arsenal v Liverpool
Aston Villa v Man United
Blackburn v Hull (20:00)
Everton v Chelsea (20:00)
West Ham v Birmingham
Wolves v Tottenham
A few striker clashes tomorrow night I expect, with the in-form Rooney, Drogba and Defoe sure to provide a headache or two over who to select, let alone star! Fabregas, Gerrard or Lampard could all provide decent alternative star picks. Gonna be defensive clashes galore too with all the big four playing (first time in a while that phrase has been justified by their league placings!), as well as popular defences like Villa, Everton and Birmingham. Decisions!
Flange 3: Saturday 12:00
Chelsea v Cardiff
Southampton v Portsmouth (12:30)
Note the earlier than usual start. Possibly worth being around a computer to see whether your Lampards/Drogbas/Anelkas play, whether Terry is there or off in Dubai grovelling to his wife, or whether you'll have to depend on a Cech, Ivanovic, A Cole etc for your cover for this flange.
Flange 4: Saturday 15:00
Derby v Birmingham
Nice little standalone flange for anyone with a Brum defender! Or Bowyer, I suppose, could have made his way into one or two teams.
Flange 5: Saturday 17:15
Man City v Stoke
Will be interesting to see if Tevez plays here. He was rested in both FA Cup games so far, but there were Manc derby CC semi matches scheduled immediately after both. They have a league game three days after this tie too (against the same opponents) so Mancini might still rotate, but I'd not be totally surprised to see a fairly strong team as he tries to win a trophy.
Flange 6: Sunday 13:30
Bolton v Tottenham
Fulham v Notts County (15:00)
C Palace v Aston Villa (15:45)
A part-blind Sunday flange then, which we'll start getting used to again soon as the Europa League restarts next week. Probably safest to star a Spur here since you'll get to check their lineup, so Defoe will probably be the popular pick. Maybe a Milner, Duff, Kranjcar or a defender for the Defoe-less few or for the adventurous among us.
Tomorrow's flange certainly looks very interesting in particular, good luck to everyone with your starring and benching decisions! (Especially to the top few in the FISO league chasing FrankieFrog's league!)

Great stuff reds
You're not wrong about tomorrow, got clashes all over the shop! Did ok from tonights slim pickings but expect there's a load of similar scores, ISO managed 38 from the 4 players on offer which was nice. 38 (ISO), 28, 26, 28, 28.

Thanks for the write up Reds
I definitely see this as a week that could produce some unpredictable scoring…
Happy with my scores today though: Lowest 25 pts, average 32 pts and highest 44 pts. Mindvampire6 scored 31 pts.
Good luck for the remainder of the week

Re: Week 27
Only ISO putting up some grunt tonight with Scharner finally scoring CS's are obviously not discussed within the Wigan dressing rooms as I don't believe he has got me more than 1 since bringing him in back in late November Given also finally kept a CS but even that was a hollow victory with Schwazer keeping them at a rate of 2 for every 1 of Givens since that transfer
39 all up from 4 players for ISO while my other teams made up the numbers with 17, 10 & 7.

Re: Week 27
Good work guys, we're now 7 points up after a 16-point swing last night! Pretty remarkable given that swing is averaged over five teams each! FF can't be very Tevez-heavyreds363 wrote:Tomorrow's flange certainly looks very interesting in particular, good luck to everyone with your starring and benching decisions! 27 points and a drop of one place for my top team last night, relatively content with that though!

Re: Week 27
i face a big dilemma tonight wether to star Drog over Fab over rooney
..i know this is the season of the strikers....Didier and wayne are on scoring form
but being away matches....
Everton vs chelsea sounds like one of thos 0-0 matches and Villa v Man U...you never know what to expect.
though wounded over the last 2 and half games, Arsenal could still put an equally poor liverpool to bed with Cesc at the heart of the strings....
i believe this is the penultimate defining moment of the season for my top TFFO sqaud.
but i hope drogba starts on the bench, lol

Re: Week 27
Cheers for the write up reds.
Surprised to see us overtake FF last night as well as I've a feeling we closed the gap after Defoe's hattrick. No doubt he'll hit back tonight though.
Trickiest star man decision for me for months. I've already changed tonight's star man a couple of times and still not sure.

Re: Week 27
You could be right and I might regret these words, but as well as Arsenal being poor lately Liverpool have kept 6 CSs in 7 PL games, so personally Fab hasn't come near my star-man thoughts for tonight. Made my choices yesterday and not gonna think about them any more (barring any surprising team news) - fingers crossed!Fuseballah wrote:though wounded over the last 2 and half games, Arsenal could still put an equally poor liverpool to bed with Cesc at the heart of the srtrings....

Re: Week 27
Noting your Fiso vs FrankieFrog league debates, I actually have a team in each so helping both causes!
Not a bad night last night, went for the Drog on star in most teams tonight, was willing Cech to save that penalty!

Well what a disappointment after all that build-up!
32, 31 and 19 points for me tonight I believe.

Re: Week 27
Cheers for the preview Reds.
Sadly slim pickings from the full mid-week programme.
Fingers crossed for a few positive surprises in this weekend fa cup matches. Hopefully the teams lineups will be a bit stronger than in the prevous 2 rounds given that a victory would leave any team 2 games away from Wembley.

Semi's at Wembley is one of the reasons that the FA cup has lost its appeal of a few years ago imo.

Re: Week 27
Not much to get excited about FF-wise this afternoon.
This Cole injury is likely to cause a few TFFO managers a headache. Thankfully I only have him in one squad, but at a time when transfers are precious and clean sheets are less than plentiful, is it even worth replacing him?

Re: Week 27
Had Drogba in 3 squads starred in the early game, no one in my top team for 3pm or 5.15pm games though.
Re Cole I luckily only had him in my bottom team so didn't really need to worry, if he isn't going to play for the rest of the season he is an expensive player to keep, depending on amount of transfers left, I would think to get rid & use the cash elsewhere!
