Week 19 - part 1

Post by yoda1680 »

better late than never... here's a quick mid-week summary:

Flange 1:
Birmingham v Blackburn, 20:00
Bolton v West Ham, 20:00
Man Utd v Wolverhampton, 20:00
Sunderland v Aston Villa, 19:45

Hot tips for starman must be Rooney and Bent though maybe some will be tempted by Bowyer, Milner or Agbonglahor

Another clean sheet for Birmingham could be on the cards at home to Blackburn - a home win here sure to mount more pressure on Liverpool

Bolton playing West Ham probably won't feature on too many people's radars I suspect: 1-1 perhaps with Klasnic the only real scoring option of any value here IMO

Can Utd recover after their shock loss at the weekeend? You've got to guess so but with their injury ravaged defence and giggs set to miss out, who knows - maybe the boy milijas has more surprises up his sleeve to inspire Wolves

Can Villa pull off another shock away-win? Not sure - its a possibility but Sunderland's home form remains strong and with Bent back in the goals, this may not be a week for more points at the back from mr dunne and co.

Flange 2:
Burnley v Arsenal, 19:45
Chelsea v Portsmouth, 19:45
Liverpool v Wigan, 20:00
Tottenham v Man City, 20:00

Obvious starman seem to be Drogba / Torres / Gerrard and Defoe - though perhaps Adebayor will tempt some.

Can Burnley hold out against Arsenal? Even with their little forwards and a potentially rested Fabregas, you've got to imagine that Arsenal will come through this unscathed as they look to draw level with Man Utd

Will Drogba get a hat-trick to celebrate the upcoming ANC - I will be hoping so. Questions in the Chelsea defence though with Carvalho rumoured to be rested and Ancelotti clearly unhappy with Cech's form

Will this be the night I regret not having Torres? Possibly yes, I am relying on Gerrard but getting worried from here on in. Insua could again be out of the first XI which will I imagine be concerning some - still home win here looks a certainty.

Down at the Lane we could see the game of the night with Spurs and Man City pushing for a fourth place finish. Pavlyuchenko might get a start but the goals will surely be split between Defoe and Adebayor [with Bellamy out after his ridiculous red card at the weekend]

All in all, it looks like we might be in for a mid-week goal-fest with the big 4 [should i still be including liverpool in this?] with seemingly easy fixtures.

Perhaps some sanity will return to the Premiership - I'll just be happy with no red cards, mised pens or own goals

Cheers for that.

I worked out I've got 10 players out tomorrow night in my ISO team with no clashes! That is if Drogba and co pass their fitness tests. Need to be at the computer to dish out my armband on that one.

Wonder if there will be a pre-xmas rest for Rooney too? 2 nights by the computer.....

Nice one Yoda

Tonights fixtures seem fairly straightforward for my teams with Bent or Rooney as captain my only real decision. Tomorrow less so... as I have a few clashing teams with 3 from Torres, Drogba, Defoe and Adebayor... In particular, I can't as yet decide who will come out on top tomorrow from Drogba or Torres

Good luck everyone

All teams between 27 and 36 points tonight, imagine most people are around that mark.

Tomorrow could be very interesting, with potentials for high scores for Torres/Gerrard and Lampard/Drogba (if fit) :D

All along same lines here too 36 (ISO), 36, 35, 25 & 24. A couple of Drog/Torres starring dilemmas tomorrow, form & straight bat leans towards Drog but will probably do one of each.

PS cheers yoda for the write up :)

Best I could muster was 42 for ISO which is my leading team thankfully. (Sticking fat with Vidic payed off tonight, but I believe he's injured again )

Looking for Torres magic tomorrow :P

decent start to the week.....should have a full sqaud tonight, assuming Drogba is still not carry a knock.

Dilemma, don't know who to star

I don't see any Arsenal player doing extremely well at Burnley, Easy to think Liverpool will have an easy ride at home v. Wigan but anything is possible this season but i def won't star Rodallega (after the wknd minus points)

Hopefully if fit i think the Drog might bully that weak Pompey defence. :|

I had reasonable scores last night, both climbing.

Tonight I'll be captaining my Chelsea boys (one has FFL, one Drogba) if they start as I reckon they'll be up for it after the Everton fiasco. I don't have Torres though or it might have been a trickier call.

Ok scores for top 2 last night, both climbing steadily...

Will be Drogba on star in top 2 - Torres on star in bottom 2 - Providing they both start - Bottom 2 have gone though with regards to doing anything this season!

No Drogba tonight - How many teams does that affect?

Shedloads. Just over 50% according most selected players list, expect there's plenty stuck with him starred. Torres on bench too, a good night to check the line-ups!

Thanks for the write-up, Yoda! There was certainly a lot of starman switching required tonight.

85 so far for my best team, don't know if that's good, bad or indifferent. Overall scores ranged between 87 and 51.

Sods law really wasn't it

Worst case of this though was Adebeyor(ARS) comiing of the bench at half-time, 2 seasons ago, and scoring a hattrick at Derby County

I remember that one and a similar sinking feeling, thankfully not too much damage done earlier. Some paid off some didn't so mustn't grumble. 84 seems decent Mike, mine are on 70 (ISO), 54, 55, 74, 73 so unfortunately my crap sides did best, my better 3 sides all starred 2 pointers :(

Tonight scores: Lowest 19 pts, average 33 pts and highest 50 pts.
Poor star man choices hurt my average.

Including Tuesdays games, my scores should be: Low 41 pts, average 64 pts and high 78 pts.

Scores of 48 to 87 for the midweek games, averaging 67. Been a strange time recently for my top 2 sides (currently 18th and 45th) in that when one does well it's usually at the other's expense. Not that surprising though given that they only have one key player in common - just goes to show how many different combinations there must be in the teams in the top 100.

Once again I've been saved by luckily picking the right captain. 56 points is ok to keep my position in the teens but some of my squad is just useless at the moment. I was December manager of the month last year. That's definitely not going to happen this year. MindVampire, you seem to increase your lead every flange. Impressive stuff!
