Excellent. Milano Sanremo, La Primavera. Always the same, always different.
I'll try and pick a team later today.

inner ring has a good graph on that, which I currently don't have the facilities right now to nick.unc.si. wrote:Excellent. Milano Sanremo, La Primavera. Always the same, always different.

300km with the decisive action nearly always within the last 7km, but it's all about how you get there...

SPR Racing will be in soon. Not sure how good I'll be at keeping up with transfers.
MSR is nice but really looking forward to the cobbles season starting in earnest. E3's a week on Friday!

Re: Velogames Spring Classics 2017
flahutes are in.
Struggled to find a lot of value tbh so I'm not that hopeful.
Looking forward to the race. Gets a bit of stick as the most boring of the Monuments but I love the rhythm of the race. Seeing who's in the doomed 10 minute break, the Turchino and its indications of how hard the race is going to be made and which sprinters aren't on a good day, the looking of rivals in the eyes on the Capi and then the end game.
Cipressa attacks are rare, but its always a possibility and if you're not in the right position and don't have the legs your race ends there. Then the Poggio. One of the best finishes in cycling. Easy enough to be raced hard, tough enough after 290km to take out all but the best. Its a real hardman descent off the Poggio and then that last flat couple of km.
You know it'll be won in the last 5km, but there are so many different ways to win the race that its probably the most unpredictable of all the classics.
Mind you, having said all that the best thing about MSR is that its only 2 weeks to Holy Week
I'm in Flanders just before De Ronde (unfortunately can't stay for the race). I was there a few weeks back and Boonen fever was already in full swing. God only knows what its going to be like at the end of March.

Re: Velogames Spring Classics 2017
Not enough spare Brain Cells to pick a team, but I'm looking forward to it....
Eurosport having been going REALLY BIG on Cav, do they know something?
I was looking forward to see how the Yateses got on - one of them won a Stage the other week in what looked like an MSR dry run, but neither start. Too young, being saved for Stage races?
So it will be everyone against Sagan?
Hoping for a break-type win by Cummins, OK a tad daft, but there have too many sprint finishes... Failing that Cav* in the sprint
Although I'm hoping he is preparing for a crack at P-R.

Shocked to be second ATM, got three of the top five. Simon got four of the top seven!
Few transfers to be made before we hit the cobbles.

Yes, the fun times start today. Quick Step with so many options to not win from dominating positions today. Was surprising to see them look like they knew what they were doing at Dwars.SPR wrote:So cobble season kicks off in earnest tomorrow. Should be fun although I won't get to see it live.
Sagan, Stybar, GVA, Rowe, Gilbert my top five. Shame I can't afford them all.

Re: Velogames Spring Classics 2017
Biggest day of the year in Flanders today.
Was there last week and everyone at work was finalising their plans and getting the sweepstakes in.
Sagan and Greg obviously the strongest, but you only have to look back at [2011?] when Cancellara was by far the strongest rider but Nuyens and VanSummeren won the races to know that doesn't guarantee victory...

Based on E3 Harelbeke Naesen is looking good. Not convinced about De Ronde but I've brought him in anyway.

Re: Velogames Spring Classics 2017
Great race. Ended up with 3 of the top 4. Might have been 5 of 5 if Sagan hadn't gone down as I had the top 4 chasers plus Gilbert at that point.
Boonen looked good and think he'd have been up there as well so selections came through in the end.

Re: Velogames Spring Classics 2017
One of the great rides to win de Ronde. Such a pity Sagan took out himself, GvA and Naesen, that chase over the last 10km could have been some finale.
Gilberts kit also looks the business.
