I was initially surprised at that, but I guess they do have a big lead on Roddick, and his record the past couple of years hasnt been that great. If they get drawn in the same 1/4 it would represent a great opportunity for someone further down

And it also opens up the possibility of Nadal having to beat Roddick - Djokovic - Federer to win it (obviously you can switch Fed & Nadal there)...........will be a interesting draw

Looks like this week will be a write-off for most with the number of withdrawals, injuries, forfeits & surprise defeats.

Im expecting Wimbledon to be the start of a steady climb up the leaderboard though, as those who've been unable to resist the temptation of the top players should begin to pay the price.

So who should we pick for Wimbledon then?
I'm thinking Federer, Djokovic, Roddick, Murray, Berdych,
Nalbandian (or Karlovic),
Nadal (but I've only got 1 tournament left for him, not sure whether to save him for the UK Open) or Youzhny,
Blake (in same quarter as Roddick but fairly easy draw to the 4th round) or Ljubicic (can he beat Davydenko again like he did at the French)

Federer, Nadal, Djokovic & Roddick (how lucky did he get with that draw?!) are definites for me. Im quite glad I dont have the Nadal issue right now (having missed out on his $500k at Hamburg!), but based on past performances, current form and the draw, I know what Id be doing if I only had one selection left

I'll probably go for Murray over an out of form Gasquet, and at the moment Im thinking Karlovic over Nalbandian, though he's not won a match at Wimbledon since 2004.

Beyond that, Im not really sure what to do. The Davydenko section looks so weak that picking the quarter-finalist is almost a lottery, and Im tempted to leave Federer's 1/4 alone, so Im not sure who the other two will be..........

Hope you had a good time.

Not the final you were expecting I guess, Ferrer a dark horse for success at SW19 ?!?

Had a great time thanks Cam......except for forgetting the sun cream & frying all day

Ferrer was really impressive tbh, though its not like he was playing Federer! Felt a bit sorry for him though - no Spanish champion on grass for 36 years, and then he wins one the week after Nadal

One week in, and I see none of us have having a great Wimbledon, though I guess thats not really a surprise with some of the results so far.

I toyed with the likes of Ancic, Cilic & Baghdatis - and managed to avoid them all. Federer & Nadal should still save the day though.

Im guessing that you are currently praying for a Youzhny win Matt?!

Yes I'm down to Federer, Murray and Youzhny so could really do with Youzhny beating Nadal tomorrow, unlikely of course but should be some good matches - I'm taking the day off to watch it on TV as I can't go up there this year.

Not many surprises so far in the US Open - most people still have all their picks left right? (I do) :) . A couple of my players have tough matches tomorrow - Simon (vs Del Potro) and Nalbandian (vs Monfils).

I see you guys are gradually moving up the leaderboard.

Congratulations Bagpuss I see you won the FISO FORUM mini-league, and finishing 155th overall (out of over 12000) is a great effort!

I was happy enough to finish 1100th, but got my strategy a bit wrong- hopefully will do better next year.

Cheers Matt. The nature of the game always tends to leave me feeling that I could have done slightly better (not to mention having to make my Hamburg & Madrid selections without seeing the draw) but I was pretty pleased to finish on the leaderboard.

I hope to see the game back again next year, the earlier in the season the better for me!
