Re: NFL chat 2019/20 season
So it’s probably a case of waiting for a starter to go down injured for the spare part QBs?

I haven't fully caught up on the Draft, but I think only the Pats have an issue at the position (assuming the Rams and 49ers are sticking) so yep that seems to be the case.
Oh and bstrd 49ers getting Trent - I wanted him in Cleveland so the kid can have a learning year

Re: NFL chat 2019/20 season
Well, Staley was retiring so it was an urgent need... hopefully it’s quality over quantity with the draft picks, anyway.
In terms of QBs, this depth chart is interesting:
https://www.ourlads.com/nfldepthcharts/depthchartpos/QB
TB need a better backup for TB than Blaine Gabbert, and Seattle don’t appear to have any backup QB on the roster currently. And Pittsburgh appear to have four backup QBs, but they’re all shite...

Cam as a No2 sounds interesting? Imagine the peacock strutting to the bench....
Steelers look likely to need one - I'm not so sure Ben will be back at the level people expect after that Op.

Re: NFL chat 2019/20 season
Saw the Football Lives programme on Terry Bradshaw earlier. First three games, sacked for a safety in each one. First season, 6 TDs and something like 24 INTs. He was a bit crap for about 5 years, and yet ended up as a HOF QB with 4 Super Bowl wins.
These days, we see a newly drafted QB struggle for one or two seasons and he’s typically written off as a starter. Is there talent going to waste?

And he is heralded as an all time great.
But yes, just consider Rosen vs Baker. One on the scrap heap and the other not yet although we picked up a tasty No2?
Ticker on NFL just said Jameis is signing a 12 month deal with the Saints.

Re: NFL chat 2019/20 season
So the Saints now have Brees, Hill, Jameis and a potential new trick-play QB they drafted?
Regarding Rosen, I suspect there is more to it than his forgettable but certainly not disastrous on-field efforts on two very poor teams. There were always questions about his character, not in terms of off the field incidents but more in terms of uncertainty about his leadership and perceived lack of passion for the game. Maybe he just didn’t inspire, to the extent that teams weren’t keen to invest their futures in him.

Well the Cruds were all in on Murray....
Btw (without googling) do you know who were the most sacked QBs last season?

Re: NFL chat 2019/20 season
Definitely the first 2 (tied on 48) with a 3rd that I've forgotten.
Carroll should be sacked for dereliction of duty, and I don't know how BO'B is employed lol.
I assumed Baker and Fitzmagic would be top

Re: NFL chat 2019/20 season
I think Ryan was the 3rd.
Regarding the QB's: in theory Dallas may still want one, and pinnocchio (fook nose) what is going to happen in Green Bay - imagine AR12 in NE

Re: NFL chat 2019/20 season
I think they’re committed to Rodgers as starter for three years given his contract. That’s when the “Favre moment” will hit... he will be 39 but, like Brady, apparently wants to play until his mid-40s.

Same order, please, thank youforestfan wrote: ↑25 Apr 2020, 19:44As a hypothetical situation, what happens if there’s no NFL season before the next draft? Keeping teams in the same order would seem a bit generous to the teams who might well have improved... the only other option would appear to be a random order, but with someone like Trevor Lawrence who might be the most sought after prospect since Andrew Luck, the top pick could have massive trade value...

That would suck. I'm fully expecting the Redskins to earn the #1 pick this year.blahblah wrote: ↑26 Apr 2020, 20:22Apparently it is going to be 10-32 then 9 to 1Bob Newhart wrote: ↑26 Apr 2020, 20:18Same order, please, thank youforestfan wrote: ↑25 Apr 2020, 19:44As a hypothetical situation, what happens if there’s no NFL season before the next draft? Jags and Panthers are in the hunt apparently, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Pittsburgh challenge.
I haven't checked out your Draft yet, tbh.

Not even close to being as awful as the 'skins.
Riverboat will fix us, but it's not going to be a 5m job. More like 5 years to undo the damage done by Allen, Snyder and Gruden.

Re: NFL chat 2019/20 season
They still have about the best defence in the AFC, don’t they? This is a team that went 8-8 with no viable starting QB and having lost their leading RB and WR...

Re: NFL chat 2019/20 season
re Rosen, above: an interesting idea which has been doing the rounds is giving the QB the chance to fail ie a good OL and WR's/TE's so if he is pants it is his fault. I quite like the way the Browns have done this and brought in a reasonable back up - but if Baker stinks it up this season, then tank, tank, tank. I'd put the 2 next year above One Season Joe....
Can anyone point me to an article, or explain what went wrong with the Chargers for last season and the last match of the one before, as they managed to go from great to shite rather quickly.

Re: NFL chat 2019/20 season
The Chargers are just “Spursy” generally, but I think injuries largely wrecked last season for them. Rivers seemed to lose the plot a bit with lots of picks but may have been down to lack of protection for him.
Who’s the second top QB prospect for next year?
