Regrettably, in all the time I've been league commissioner, it looks like we have our first mid-season abandonment - Cornish Tinners seem to have disappeared.

Since I mentioned that Cornish Tinners have disappeared, they've gone on a 3-game winning streak

WEEK 8 RESULTS

Crystal Tipps 89 @ 107 Fulchester Fish

Forest Tigers 101 @ 145 Barry Crockers
Luck Skywalker 74 @ 81 Bookhouse Boys

Sadly, ESPN seem to have removed their trophy cabinet in the redesign of the site so I can't check back, but Barry Crockers' 145 points is certainly the highest score for many a season.

WEEK 12 RESULTS

Fulchester Fish 63 @ 93 Bruschi 54s
Forest Tigers 78 @ 72 Bookhouse Boys
Luck Skywalker 112 @ 61 Barry Crockers
Chingford Gingers 112 @ 84 Cornish Tinners
X-Men 67 @ 27 Crystal Tipps
Yorkshire Dragons 107 @ 120 Get It Right Next Time

Playoff scenario:
Sanders Division - Tigers have qualified for postseason, either as division winners or the wildcard, and Bookhouse Boys are going well for the wildcard spot too, if not the division title itself. Fish and 54s both still in with a slight chance of that wildcard if results in weeks 13 and 14 go certain ways.
Payton Division - the closest of the three, with Gingers, Crockers and Luck Skywalker all still in the hunt for the division title. Tinners are out of it, as the best they can finish is 7-7 which wouldn't be enough for the wildcard, and Gingers and Crockers, both 7-5, have yet to play each other so they won't both lose that game!
Brown Division - neck and neck between GIRNT and the X-Men at 6-6, and again as these two teams have yet to meet and therefore can't both lose both games to the end of the season, that means curtains for the Dragons as the best they could finish is 6-7-1. Tipps' hopes expired some time ago, sadly.

But, my traditional reminder that even if you're out of playoff contention, the more wins you get from hereon out, the more you improve your draft spot for next year - so, in the words of Herm Edwards, "you PLAY to WIN the GAME"!

WEEK 13 RESULTS

Bruschi 54s 59 @ 69 Forest Tigers
Bookhouse Boys 65 @ 104 Fulchester Fish
Barry Crockers 62 @ 96 Chingford Gingers
Cornish Tinners 75 @ 87 Luck Skywalker
Crystal Tipps 102 @ 75 Yorkshire Dragons
Get It Right Next Time 93 @ 85 X-Men

Playoff scenario:
Things are a lot clearer now, especially since I've remembered that the first tie-breaker is Total Points For, not head-to-head (this was decided by a large majority before season 11).
Sanders Division: after another win, Forest Tigers locks up the #1 seed. Bookhouse Boys will guarantee themselves the wildcard with a win next week, but a loss may still be OK - unless the Fish win (in which case, the Fish will advance with a better W-L record). If both Boys and Fish lose, then the Bookhouse Boys will finish at 8-6 and be in a fight with...
Payton Division:...the runner up in this division, providing they've also finished at 8-6. First things first though, a win for the Gingers will give them the division title. The only way they can be toppled is for them to lose, and Barry Crockers to win by scoring 37 more points than the Gingers (which is certainly possible), or for Luck Skywalker to win by scoring 122 more points than the Gingers (which, shall we say, is less likely)! If, as is the most likely scenario, Crockers and the Bookhouse Boys from the Sanders division both end up as runners-up in their respective division, both with 8-6 records, the points difference between them is minimal at the moment (Crockers have it by 9 points).
Brown Division: simple - unless Get It Right Next Time lose, and X-Men win, outscoring GIRNT by 101 points, this division will go to Get It Right Next Time.

WEEK 14 FIXTURES

Bookhouse Boys (8-5-0) @ Bruschi 54s (6-7-0)
Fulchester Fish (7-5-1) @ Forest Tigers (10-3-0)
Cornish Tinners (5-8-0) @ Barry Crockers (7-6-0)
Luck Skywalker (7-6-0) @ Chingford Gingers (8-5-0)
Get It Right Next Time (7-6-0) @ Crystal Tipps (2-11-0)
X-Men (6-7-0) @ Yorkshire Dragons (4-7-1)

WEEK 14 RESULTS

Bookhouse Boys 69 @ 114 Bruschi 54s
Fulchester Fish 71 @ 55 Forest Tigers
Cornish Tinners 71 @ 89 Barry Crockers
Luck Skywalker 92 @ 109 Chingford Gingers
Get It Right Next Time 108 @ 67 Crystal Tipps
X-Men 50 @ 123 Yorkshire Dragons

Playoff scenario:

Sanders Division - Forest Tigers had already won the division and locked up the #1 seed, so their loss was of no consequence to them - however, the win for the Fulchester Fish, coupled with a loss for the Bookhouse Boys, means that the Fish grab the wildcard spot at the death.
Payton Division - the one with the largest number of permutations, if the Chingford Gingers had lost - but they didn't! - so they finish top, and Barry Crockers' win was not enough to lift them to the wildcard position, courtesy of the Fish result.
Brown Division - the miracle scenario unsurprisingly failed to materialise - indeed, Get It Right Next Time gained greater distance over the X-Men, so they win this division.

So Forest Tigers, the #1 seed, will play the wildcard Fulchester Fish, in a very quick rematch from the previous week - and Chingford Gingers will play Get It Right Next Time.
All other teams still have matchups to play, and wins in these games will raise those teams up the final ladder and thus improve their draft spot for next season.

WEEK 16 RESULTS

Championship game:
Forest Tigers 81 v 84 Get It Right Next Time

3rd/4th playoff:
Fulchester Fish 92 v 112 Chingford Gingers

Consolation ladder:
Bruschi 54s 101 v 159 Barry Crockers
Yorkshire Dragons 68 v 85 Bookhouse Boys
Cornish Tinners 76 v 74 Luck Skywalker
Crystal Tipps 68 v 54 X-Men

Congratulations to Alan and his "Get It Right Next Time" squad. That's 2 wins, one 3rd place and one 4th place over the last four years, so undoubtedly the star man of the league over recent times. Looks like he's got it right this time!
A very narrow win in the final though - Patrick Mahomes had a decent game for the Tigers, but threw too many passes to GIRNT's Travis Kelce - but the real letdown for the Tigers was the complete no-show of Anthony Miller.

And I must point out Scott's Barry Crockers absolutely smashing the all-time highest weekly score record - back in week 8 when he scored 145, I noted then that that score was the best score in recent memory - I think we may now have one that lasts for the ages!

Season review:

1st - GET IT RIGHT NEXT TIME. Halfway through the season, GIRNT stood at a lowly 2-5, and a long shot for post-season play, but a combination of 6-1 for the remainder of the year plus the slightly good fortune of being in what turned out to be the weakest of the three divisions propelled them to the top, from where they had a comfortable semi-final victory over the Chingford Gingers and a nailbiter against Forest Tigers for the title.

2nd - FOREST TIGERS. Looked good value to challenge for the title pretty much all the way through the season, racing out to a 6-1 record over the first half and coasting home with the best record and the #1 spot in the playoffs. A big win against the Fish in their semifinal, but just came up short in the final. Can't be unhappy with the best overall W-L record though, a great year for the Tigers.

3rd - CHINGFORD GINGERS. Proving that 2 heads can be better than 1, the Gingers with the addition of a co-manager improve from last year's 5th up to a podium position this time around. A 5-2 record over the 1st seven weeks put them in a good position - then the next 4 weeks produced 4 really close games and 3 narrow defeats to tighten things up in their division - but the final 3 games saw 3 good wins to give them the divisional title. It finished for them in the semis though, with a not particularly close game against GIRNT.

4th - FULCHESTER FISH. Halfway through the season, a .500 record for the Fish, standing at 3-3-1. Bumped along for the next 5 weeks, and entering week 13 were a bit of a longshot to progress - but that's what they did, courtesy of two wins in the last 2 games, combined with 2 losses for Bookhouse Boys, to grab the wildcard. Having done the hard work though, they then put up a feeble performance in the semi against Forest Tigers.

5th - BARRY CROCKERS. A bit of a roller-coaster year, with just enough good results to put them with a chance of post season right up until the final week. They did win their week 14 match-up, but the Gingers also got a win that week to remain top of the Payton Division, and the Crockers final 8-6 record was half a game short of the wildcard spot grabbed by the Fish. Two wins in the consolation ladder games, the second with an unbelievable 159 points, took them to the top of this ladder, and thus the number one draft spot for next year.

6th - BRUSCHI 54s
. A bit of a sluggish start for last year's champs, coupled with being in the strongest division this year, meant that the 54s were always playing catch-up; finishing 7-7 really shouldn't mean bottom place in a division but them's the breaks sometimes. (In a personal aside, in another league I play in with 3 divisions of 4 teams, I finished 9-5 with the top points score, but only finished third in my division and missed the playoffs entirely - and the team with the worst record of all 12 teams somehow managed to outscore the eventual champion!). They had a thumping win in the first of the two ladder games, but then an even more thumping loss against the Barry Crockers juggernaut in week 16.

7th - BOOKHOUSE BOYS. 8-3 after 11 weeks really should have been a good enough record to guarantee post season action but the final 3 games saw 3 losses which, together with the Fulchester Fish getting their act together just in time, knocked them out of even the wildcard. 1-1 in the ladder games meant a midtable finish, but this was definitely a "what might have been" year.

8th - YORKSHIRE DRAGONS. Like the Fish above, absolute parity after 7 games standing at 3-3-1. The wheels rather fell off in the 2nd half though as they struggled to 2-5 over those games, and were out of playoff contention quite early. One slightly bizarre stat though - over the course of the regular season, the Dragons were actually the top scorers! So something to remember the season by.

9th - CORNISH TINNERS. An 0-5 start is a fairly deep hole to dig out of, and although they then went 5-1 over the next 6 weeks to just about get back in contention, they finished the year with another losing streak to end up at 5-9 and the 2nd worst regular season record. Two wins in the ladder games propelled them up the final table standings though, improving their draft position for next year.

10th - LUCK SKYWALKER. Off to a 4-1 start and all was looking rosy. A 4-game losing skid then followed, but right up until the last week or two, they were still in with chances of postseason action - but other results, coupled with their much lower scoring over the season (the first tiebreaker) meant that those chances were always slim. Two losses in the ladder games shot them down the final table a bit too.

11th - CRYSTAL TIPPS. The one team that really never got going this year at all. Just two wins for the season, and suffering one particular lossin week 12 with a total of just 27 points which I think is a record that no-one wants to own! The tiniest crumb of comfort - two wins in the ladder games at least lifted them off the bottom of the final table.

12th X-MEN. 5-3 after 8 weeks, and keeping hot on the heels of the eventual champs Get It Right Next Time in the Brown division - from then on, a bit of a disaster. Just one more win in the regular season (that week 12 game v. Crystal Tipps as mentioned above), followed by two losses in the ladder games, meant that X-Men sink to the bottom of the pile.

Season records.
Best W-L record - Forest Tigers (10-4)
Worst W-L record - Crystal Tipps (2-12)
Highest points scorer - Yorkshire Dragons (1330)
Lowest points scorer - Crystal Tipps (1054)
Highest weekly score - Barry Crockers 159 (week 16) - or, in regular season only, Barry Crockers (again!) 145 (week 8)
Lowest weekly score - Crystal Tipps 27 (week 12)
Biggest margin of victory - 73 (Yorkshire Dragons v. X-Men, week 14)

Draft order for season 14
#1 Barry Crockers
#2 Bruschi 54s
#3 Bookhouse Boys
#4 Yorkshire Dragons
#5 Cornish Tinners
#6 Luck Skywalker
#7 Crystal Tipps
#8 X-Men
#9 Fulchester Fish
#10 Chingford Gingers
#11 Forest Tigers
#12 Get It Right Next Time

That wraps up season 13 - thanks to all of you for another fine year of fantasy football, and hope to see you all again next time around. Happy holidays to everyone!

Rick.

Congratulations from Forest Tigers to Alan and his team.

I probably tried to get too cute with my final line-up, but doubt it would have even been close had Derrick Henry played.

Thanks to the commissioner, as always, on a brilliantly run league.
