Consider streaming weekly, perhaps. Might be the time to gamble with a 2-4 record.

Chingford Gingers (3-4) 61 @ 116 Get it Right Next Time (5-2)
Yorkshire Dragons (4-3) 90 @ 62 Cornish Tinners (6-1)
Fulchester Fish (2-5) 70 @ 100 Putney Gooners (3-4)

Luck Skywalker (3-4) 97 @ 73 Forest Tigers (1-6)
Bruschi 54's (3-4) 57 @ 82 Bookhouse Boys (3-4)

Last undefeated record (Tinners) goes down, but still a big lead for them in the Sanders Division at the halfway stage. The other two divisions much tighter, with the last team only two wins behind the top team in each.

WEEK 8 RESULTS

Yorkshire Dragons (5-3) 94 @ 73 Fulchester Fish (2-6)
Chingford Gingers (4-4) 89 @ 85 Barry Crockers (4-4)

Luck Skywalker (3-5) 52 @ 65 Bruschi 54's (4-4)
Forest Tigers (1-7) 58 @ 102 Bookhouse Boys (4-4)

Two new owners, Yorkshire Dragons and Bookhouse Boys, on a 4-game winning streak - conversely two stragglers, Fulchester Fish and Forest Tigers (both in the Sanders Division), on the slide with 4 and 5-game losing runs respectively. Tinners with a good 3-game lead in the Sanders, last year's champs Get It Right Next Time open up a 2-game advantage in the Payton Division, while the Brown Division sees only 2 games between first and last places.

New poll up on the league homepage regarding an Injured Reserve slot on the roster for next year.
An explanation, if anyone is in doubt about what this is - if a player has a designated IR (injured reserve), SUS (league suspension) or EXE (exempt) rating, this player can be moved to an IR slot on a roster - this is an extra slot. One player can then be added via free agency to the roster to bring it back up to the required size. This would mean that suffering owners of players like Aaron Rodgers, Deshaun Watson and Dalvin Cook for example would not have to drop them to waivers and thus lose the opportunity to use them as keepers for next year. Should a player lose their IR/SUS/EXE status, they have to be moved back to the regular roster and one player must be released back into free agency to keep the roster size at the required number.

WEEK 11 RESULTS

Get it Right Next Time (7-4) 77 @ 90 Putney Gooners (5-6)
Barry Crockers (6-5) 49 @ 119 Yorkshire Dragons (8-3)
Fulchester Fish (4-7) 77 @ 97 Bookhouse Boys (6-5)

X - Men (8-3) 105 @ 72 Forest Tigers (2-9)
Bruschi 54's (5-6) 83 @ 63 Chingford Gingers (4-7)

Yorkshire Dragons impressive win streak now stands at 7.
Three weeks to go, and already three of the four play-off spots look clearcut, with Dragons, Tinners and X-Men all sporting 8-3 records and three game leads over the rest. Just the Payton division looking fairly open.

WEEK 12 RESULTS

Barry Crockers (7-5) 98 @ 87 Get it Right Next Time (7-5)
Luck Skywalker (3-9) 81 @ 97 Bookhouse Boys (7-5)
Forest Tigers (3-9) 101 @ 77 Bruschi 54's (5-7)
Fulchester Fish (5-7) 117 @ 89 Cornish Tinners (8-4)
Yorkshire Dragons (9-3) 68 @ 56 Chingford Gingers (4-8)
Putney Gooners (6-6) 100 @ 98 X - Men (8-4)

Sanders division - a rare loss for the Tinners, but courtesy of the 54's loss, they are still champions with 2 games to go. The other 3 teams in this division, Fish. 54's and Tigers all eliminated from postseason play.
Brown division - Dragons go marching on and into the playoffs, with the X-Men just a game back. The Gooners are still in with a shout of the wildcard if many results go their way; two wins for them, two losses for X-Men (Gooners would win tiebreaker on head-to-head) and various losses from teams in the Payton division.
Payton division - this is the best race by far with 3 teams, GIRNT, Crockers and the Bookhouse Boys, all at 7-5. And it's looking most likely that 2nd place in this division will not be enough to grab the wildcard spot. Bookhouse Boys and Barry Crockers meet next week in a real battle. Odd man out in this division is Luck Skywalker who are on a 5-game losing streak.

The crucial Bookhouse Boys v. Barry Crockers battle going to the wire, with the Crockers needing 13 points from Joe Mixon tonight. Meanwhile Yorkshire Dragons need just 3 points from kicker Chris Boswell for a ninth successive win over the X-Men and their very impressive bench score :)

As a reminder for everyone but especially our rookies, just because chances of post season play may be gone, there's still something to play for. Good results in the remaining matches will lift you up the overall positional ladder which impacts on next year's draft position, which is determined as follows...
As is traditional. the four teams involved in postseason play will be drafting in positions 9-12 next year, the champion in 12th, runner-up 11th and so on. Of the other 8 teams, the team that finished 5th overall (ie best of the non playoff teams) will be rewarded with the 1st draft position next year, the team finishing 6th will draft 2nd and so on down to the 12th and last finishing team drafting 8th.

WEEK 13 RESULTS

Get it Right Next Time (8-5) 110 @ 104 Luck Skywalker (3-10)
Bookhouse Boys (8-5) 101@92 Barry Crockers (7-6)
Bruschi 54's (5-8) 88 @ 112 Fulchester Fish (6-7)
Cornish Tinners (9-4) 88 @ 61 Forest Tigers (3-10)
Chingford Gingers (4-9) 64 @ 75 Putney Gooners (7-6)
X - Men (8-5) 81 @ 90 Yorkshire Dragons (10-3)

PLAYOFF PERMUTATIONS

Into the final week and this is what's at stake.

Sanders Division
Champions - Cornish Tinnners
Eliminated - Fulchester FIsh, Bruschi 54s, Forest Tigers
This one's been sorted for a while.

Brown Division
Champions - Yorkshire Dragons
Eliminated - Chingford Gingers
X-Men are guaranteed the wildcard place with a win - it would take them to 9-5, and the two other currently 8-5 teams (Bookhouse Boys and Get It Right Next Time) are playing each other - the winner will win the Payton division and the loser will thus finish 8-6. An X-men loss in itself wouldn't mean the end of it unless the Gooners win - that would put the Gooners above the X-Men on tiebreak - Gooners would themselves have a chance of the wilcard depending on other results, X-Men would then be out.

Payton Division.
Champions - tbc
Eliminated - Luck Skywalker
The top two, Bookhouse Boys and Get It Right Next Time, play each other - the winner will be champions. The loser will finish at 8-6 which won't be good enough for the wildcard if X-Men have won their match. If X-Men lose however, 8-6 will be a record that will be enough, and the wildcard will depend on tiebreakers. It's possible that four teams over two divisions will finish 8-6 and if anyone wants to work out permutations they're welcome!

...Monday morning update...

The battle for the top of the Payton division is over - and by a single point, the winners are Get It Right Next Time.
It looks pretty unlikely for the X-Men to win their game, nearly 80 points back with just two to play.
Barry Crockers have a slight chance to hold on to their lead, but Luke Skywalker only need 7 points from their two remaining players to put the Crockers out of wildcard possibilities.
Putney Gooners neck-and-neck with Yorkshire Dragons, needing a win to stay in contention - 1 point in it, and each have a Patriot RB (Lewis v. Burkhead) to go.

So, all three division champs confirmed (Cornish Tinners, GIRNT, Yorkshire Dragons) - and at 8-6, Bookhouse Boys, almost certainly X-Men, 50/50 Putney Gooners and a slight chance for Barry Crockers.

Not been on the site for a while. Can I just check what was decided about the IR position. I had (at least) two that I wanted to keep - Dalvin Cook and Beckham. I had to make the choice and got rid of Cook but someone else picked him up subsequently. Not too bothered if I can't retain him but I would be wanting to keep him for next year if I could.

Had an absolute 'mare generally this year with injuries and choosing the wrong person at the wrong time - don't really deserve to be in the Play-offs and expect to get smashed to pieces by one of the steam roller teams with consistent studs if I do manage to make it...

Good comp tho :D

Rick Spangle wrote: 25 Jul 2017, 13:13 Lots of early replies to the first poll, and overwhelmingly leaning towards total points so, with apologies to the voter who preferred head-to-head, and as a majority has already been reached, I'll cut this poll short. So, moving on to my second minor change...
At present, it's a two keeper league with no time limit on the number of seasons that players can be kept. I'm in two minds on this one, just edging towards setting a time limit on how long players can be kept, but I'd like to see what other players preferences are. So that's the subject of poll 2.

Also, we're back up to a full league :D welcome to Phil Blackburn (Phil73) who has taken over the Caracas Firecrackers, now named the Bookhouse Boys - and to Dean Allen (yorkshiredragon) who has taken over the Crystal Tipps team, now named, in a real turn-up for the books, Yorkshire Dragons.

Can I also check about the tie-break - didn't we decide to do it on overall points scored rather than head-to-head? Grasping at straws I know...just asking for a friend... 8-)

You're absolutely right Stuart - apologies to you and everyone else - sorry, it's not been my finest year as administrator
Firstly, forgot about the poll closing date - it doesn't seem to have attracted much interest anyway, but as we're way past the cutoff time and we have a strong majority for an IR slot, that will happen next year.
More importantly, you (or your friend!) are correct on the tiebreak procedure - I'm sure I edited the league settings to reflect this at the time, but when I was checking the procedures while writing up the previous summaries, the first tiebreak was still showing as head-to-head. Looks like I forgot to save the change. This was definitely decided before the start of the season so that's what it's going to be, and sorry to anyone whose hopes were misguidedly raised - I've now edited the league settings to reflect this.
Just to keep track of the 8-6 and potential 8-6 teams "total points for" score...
Bookhouse Boys 1104 (finished)
X-Men 1145 (plus 2 to go tonight)
Putney Gooners 1003 (plus 1 to go tonight)
Barry Crockers 1050 (finished)
So after all that, the wildcard is pretty cut-and-dried - looks like the X-Men.

As an aside, I've never really checked the Total Points For section - a bit annoyed that my 6-7 record has produced more points for than my division winning Cornish Tinners with their 9-4 record

Thanks for the clarification - for what it's worth I think you're doing a fine job as administrator. :)

I think that as things turned out it didn't really matter but it would have been sad to have had one of the top four highest points score totals but not make the play-offs - and this has happened before to me so it's why I voted 'yes' and also why I had noted the change from the beginning of this season.

Having said all of that - qualifying for the play-offs is obviously just a precursor to getting hammered again by Yorkshire Dragons whilst prolonging the agony of making the wrong decisions for a further week.

Correct, Bookhouse Boys would be the wildcard under either system - but a tough result for you as it turned out. Phil's Bookhouse Boys added 97 to their 1104 total points giving them 1201. Your running total before last night's disaster was 1187, so only 15 points were needed from Tom Brady and the Pats DST for you to take the wildcard which looked a cert. Not so!

WEEK 14 RESULTS
Bookhouse Boys (8-6) 97 @ 98 Get it Right Next Time (9-5)
Barry Crockers (7-7) 66 @ 84 Luck Skywalker (4-10)
Cornish Tinners (10-4) 93 @ 84 Bruschi 54's (5-9)
Forest Tigers (3-11) 95 @ 107 Fulchester Fish (7-7)
X - Men (8-6) 53 @ 124 Chingford Gingers (5-9)
Yorkshire Dragons (11-3) 111 @ 108 Putney Gooners (7-7)

In the head-to-head battle of the Pats RBs going for the Yorkshire Dragons and the Putney Gooners, the Dragons Rex Burkhead just outscored the Gooners Dion Lewis to hold on to the win, their 10th in a row
The Gooners loss takes them out of the wildcard reckoning - the same goes for the Crockers who were hoping for a bit of a miracle against Luck Skywalker that didn't materialise, as Jarvis Landry and Stephen Gostkowski did the necesssary.
So we end up with only two teams at 8-6 - X-Men and the Bookhouse Boys - and the Boys take the wildcard by the extremely narrow margin of 3 more total points over the season after the X-Men's dramatic fall at the last. (They also beat the X-Men during the regular season for good measure).

So to the playoffs - featuring last year's champs Get It Right Next Time (getting it right again this time!), one of the original members Cornish Tinners - and two rookies Yorkshire Dragons and Bookhouse Boys. For the rest of us, two more games to climb up the overall ladder and improve our draft position for next year.

Phil's Bookhouse Boys added 97 to their 1104 total points giving them 1201. Your running total before last night's disaster was 1187, so only 15 points were needed from Tom Brady and the Pats DST for you to take the wildcard which looked a cert. Not so!
Failed miserably - and deservedly so... :D

Good luck everyone in the Play offs - Go Dragons! (Divisional support)
