Hope it's okay I didn't manage to get my selection in before the Thursday night game... Stole up on me a bit this week.
Normally I'd say it's absolutely fine.....but not with that scoreline

I saw this last night and wondered how this would pan out.

I believe rule change was designed to cover the small possibility of a persons defaulted "No Pick Team" playing on Thursday, picking up a good score, and the player choosing not to pick to receive said score, or picking another team if they did shite..... As Tom's default would be Arizona - He has picked ahead of them playing so clearly was not seeking to gain an unfair advantage......

That said - Rules is Rules - Nail the bustard!!!!!

OK Seriously - I'm happy with whatever Ankel calls...

I did wonder what I was thinking backing Clipboard Jesus and the Shite'uns... the Jags' ineptitude won out though, even if they did almost rescue it with an onside kick...

re Tom's late call

'the ruling on the field stands'

The points and the win will be recorded (we're only playing for fun after all). As rightly pointed out the ruling is designed to stop anyone gaining an advantage from their default pick, as they hadn't played no advantage had been gained.

The rule becomes especially pertinent in the playoffs. and so their will be no leeway in the playoffs.

So, picks in the regular season should preferably be in prior to the Thursday Night game but MUST be in prior to the first Sunday game starting. Picks in the playoffs MUST be in prior to the first game starting on the Saturday

Seems fair enough as it's hard to remember in time for the Thursday game... how about also saying no team playing on Thursday will be used as a default? E.g. if Arizona play Atlanta on a Thursday, then a person failing to pick gets Baltimore (playing Sunday) as their default?

I've never understood the default thing at all. And to think by forgetting, you could actually improve your score is just plain wrong.

I'd have a fixed -20 point penalty as the reward for forgetting.

Just realised our current week 8 picks mean Spiny and I are going head-to-head on the Rams @ Chiefs game! Have we had any other head-to-head picks so far this season? I can't recall spotting any.

It's unusual until the playoffs. It may have happened late in the season last year.

I'd rather people had some chance of a good result from forgetting.

Good idea, I'll implement this from this week.

Almost a clean sweep in week 6 with just Sport Billy failing to record a win, with the second ever tied game call thanks to Mike Nugent missing a 36 yard field goal as time expired in OT thus earning Billy the 'Chump of the week' honours. Titans pickers dodged a bullet as Jax scored a TD, recovered an onside kick and missed a game winning field goal try in the final 90 seconds.

Meanwhile Tom's controversial late call takes him to the top of the points table despite his below average 3-3 record.

Well the Browns capitulation certainly put the cat amongst the pigeons and the two tables now have a very topsy turvy look to them. Tom leads the points difference table but sits stone cold last in the win/loss table whilst Spencer4 and Sport Billy sit 2nd and 3rd respectively in win/loss but 9th and 10th in points difference.

As we approach halfway 1 game seperates 8 teams in the win loss, whilst there is just a 47 point spread from top to bottom in points difference.
