The season kicks off on Thursday Sept 4th with defending Superbowl Champions Seattle Seahawks playing host to the Green Bay Packers.


BEST GAME OF WEEK 1
REVENGE OF FAIL MARY
The last time Seattle hosted Green Bay in 2012, we were all witnesses to one of the most infamous games of the century. Two words: Fail Mary. This year, the Packers return to CenturyLink Field in the opening game of the 2014 season. The Seahawks were an up-and-coming team back in 2012; this time around, they're the defending Super Bowl champions. Elsewhere in Week 1, Peyton Manning faces the Colts for the second time in his career. In Week 7 of last season, Indy dealt Denver its first loss.

I have made a couple of tweaks to last years rules, so please read on. I will also be capping entries at 16 (15 + me) so if you want to reserve a place, please do so on the thread below



Here's what you have to do. Pick one team each week to win and the winning margin will be your points score for the week. However you can only pick each team once. Anyone who fails to make a weekly entry will be given the first team they haven't selected in alphabetical order.

To close a loophole from last season all selections must be made prior to the first game of the week starting (almost always Thursday night)

If your team loses, the margin of defeat will be subtracted from your overall score.

As an added twist you will need to save the better teams for the playoffs. If you are unable to select a team during the playoffs you will be penalised either 30 points or the biggest losing margin of the week +5 points (whichever is greater) for each week .

At half-time on opening Sunday Forestfan and Tom QC must've been wondering how bad the week was going to get. An hour and a half later, they are 12 points clear at the top of the table. Meanwhile Mo Bot was busy throwing away 24 points - a 41 point swing in 30 minutes of Football, this game can change very quickly.

Defending Champ must've thought he was on to a good thing when Cam Newton was ruled out of Carolina's opener on the road to his pick (Tampa Bay). Funny old game, eh Spiny
