NFL no chit chat thread week 4

Post by AKNel1 »

Well the 49ers bounced back with a bang on Thursday evening. After their slow start and a poor record vs St Louis last year (draw and tight loss) I thought the Rams may have took advantage. Sadly not to be.

On to today, Baltimore travel to Buffalo in a game that looks tough to call, Bills rookie QB Manuel has been able to keep them in games whilst the Ravens D finally showed up last week as they surprised the Texans. Bengals and Browns are two teams on the rise, although we tend to say that every year about this two sides before their seemingly inevitable slide into anonymity. Bengals rookie RB Gio Bernard could well be the difference today.

Chicago go to Detroit and the Bears will fancy their chances if the Lions are once again without Reggie Bush. Joique Bell spelled superbly for Bush last week but it's hard to see him having an impact on the Bears mean defence. Seattle travel to Houston where the Texans will be looking to bounce back, they have started the season very slowly and will need to step up several gears to push a dominating Seattle team.

Indianapolis get a bye week, well as a good as a bye week as they travel to Jacksonville who have looked largely inept to this point. The Giants have been almost as bad as the Jags and Kansas will be looking to extend their win streak to 4 - who saw that coming.

At Wembley, Minnesota 'host' the worst Steelers team in a decade, can the Vikings find yet another way to clutch defeat from the jaws of victory. They certainly have been fun to watch this year. The Cardinals, after a bright start to the season have reverted to type the last two weeks and could well struggle again in Tampa Bay.

The late games see the Jets travel to Tennessee in a game that will probably be decided in the final 30 seconds based on both teams early season games. Philadelphia are the latest lambs to the slaughter at Mile High stadium in Denver, whilst the Redskins at the Raiders was once one of the games of the season - trouble is that was 25 years ago.

Dallas travel to San Diego in what promises to be a very good game, the Chargers have been better than advertised and the Cowboys are doing just enough to be top of an unusually weak looking NFC East.

The late, late Sunday game sees New England take their 100% record to Atlanta who will look to bounce back from a poor defeat last week. The Patriots despite their 3-0 start do not look like a vintage Belichick team and may be struggling to make the playoffs if Miami, NYJ and Buffalo continue to improve.

Finally on Monday night/Tuesday morning we have the game of the week as Miami travel to New Orleans and we get another chance to assess just how good Ryan Tannehill really is.

Incredible game in Houston, where the Texans bullied Seattle on both sides of the ball and led 20-3 at the half.

In the second half, Seattle took the wind right out of the Houston sail and tied the game late in the 4th with a 58 yard int return from Richard Sherman.

In O-T a bonehead play from a Houston DB gifted Seattle 15 yards and put them in field goal range. Hauschka duly obliged and the Seahawks march on.

Houston on the other hand, drop to 2-2 and the crowd were voicing their displeasure towards QB Matt Schaub in OT.

I'd be amazed if Seattle go unbeaten through the season but they just don't know when they're beaten. #beststartinfranchisehistory #4and0

Great Wembley game, as well - came down to the last play when the Vikings defence forced Big Ben into a fumble inside the red zone as he tried to produce a TD to force overtime. A bit of Petersen magic that the crowd will have been hoping for, plenty of points and a dramatic finish.

Both teams came into it 0-3 of course, and there may well be another team coming to Wembley with an 0 on their record in a few weeks!
