NFL chit chat thread - week 3

Post by AKNel1 »

Apologies for missing Kansas City's thursday night success in Philadelphia. The Chiefs are starting to look like the real deal with Alex Smith at QB. Can they push the Broncos for the AFC West title - probably not.

This evening a stuttering Houston travel to Baltimore and whilst they should go to 3-0 this is no gimme. The Giants and Panthers will be hoping to avoid becoming the best team in the league with an 0-3 start. The Giants are unlikely to find a running game against a mean Carolina defence but can Cam Newton find enough output from a poor Carolina offense.

Cincinnati's visit to Green Bay is perhaps the pick of the early games and should be a points fest, although St Louis' trip to Dallas may prove to be just as interesting as Dallas look to open up a lead atop the NFC East.

Cleveland appear to have given up on the season after their 0-2 start with the trade of T-Rich to the Colts, which is great news for the Vikings who should run all over the Browns this afternoon. New England appear to be making the most of a soft early season schedule and should again have just about enough to edge past the winless Buccs.

Arizona's trip to New Orleans could well be another barn burner with both offenses set to light up the skies with strong passing attacks. Meanwhile San Diego will travel to Tennessee with both teams looking to be the surprise team with an early season winning record.

Washington will be looking to avoid a 30 point half time deficit for a 3rd week as they host Detroit. The Lions were looking good for a 2-0 start until Reggie Bush' injury saw them mail in the second half performance last week. Yet another game that should keep the scoreboard operator busy.

The late afternoon games see a solid Atlanta Falcons outfit heading to Miami to try to break a resurgent Dolphins who have started 2-0 and looked good in doing so. Buffalo's trip to the Jets sees another two teams on the rise in the AFC East in what promises to be a key divisional encounter.

The hapless Jaguars are 19.5 point underdogs in Seattle and even that may not be enough to cover the spread. Surely only complacency stops the Seahawks starting 3-0. The Colts will unveil Trent Richardson and hope he has learnt enough of the offense for them to make a game of it against a wounded 49ers who will be desperate to bounce back.

The late late games on Sunday and Monday once again look like mismatches with Chicago expected to win in Pittsburgh and Denver anticipating to stomp all over the Raiders at Mile High.
